£5.5k is too much. I paid £1600 for my 99 Spider 2.0TS in January. Done the cambelt, thermostat, radiator and down pipe and a bit of cosmtic work. Eveything works, no missing trim bits, even the ash tray works!

Still, it needs cambelt change, water radiator, front wishbones and not in best condition outside - laque appeal here and there etc. But still... The car is unique and such fun to drive... If it's never been welded and doesn't require any welding then it's a good base upon which to build a really nice spider from. Right now, with all the work needing doing it's a sub £1000 car though.

They are not, despite the noise around them being appreciating classics. Parts availabity s becoming big problem and some part prices are getting silly. Faded red ones are particularly challenging becuase they look awful but require 1000s to sort. In the real world this is a 1.5K car. A pristine TS is £6k in the real world..

Purchased my 02 plate spider in 2015 for £2700 sold it in 2020 for £2375. It's a £3000 car maximum. My black spider had similar fading paint. Then the engine fan packed up and it was time to sell. Great looking car, not particularly quick.

While in my view it isn't a £500 car it also isn't a 5K car (in the UK) at least. I've recently finished doing a full nut and bolt resto on a 1996 Ph 1 Spider and so have a inkling (as I'm sure Neil does) how much this car will cost to get it into a half decent state even doing it all yourself. You'll be into the thick end of £9K if you pay £5K for this, probably more if the sills are rusty under those covers.

At that price, it reminds me of the Harry Enfield sketch; "I saw you coming". At 5.5k, I would be expecting much more. Price seems based on the fact it has new tyres and a stainless exhaust! Maybe a bit steep. I paid 4000 euro (3500 pound) for a very decent 1997 2.0 TS with new clutch, no rust, perfect paint, and a dodgy roof. If the roof on this one would’ve been in good nick, I think 4000 would be a good price, considering that the paint/body needs quite a bit of work and that it has some mechanical issues.
@howardlake61782 жыл бұрын
Way…..too much money, but not a bad car by any stretch. The values of these and the 916 GTV are waiting. To skyrocket. But I think a couple more years before they do. If I sell my Alfasud next year, I may look for one, but it needs to be very good! It still astonishes me though, how the galvanised cars are completely betraying the rust myth 😂

It seems a solid car without any major issues, needing just some light recommissioning and cosmetic work. If the asking price reflects that (I'm not from the UK, so I don't know how much these cars are worth there), it could be a good purchase. Lovely "phase 2" model, which is my favorite. Late Arese-built car too!

Even clutch is a thing that anyway needs to be done in sometime. Paintwork and that stuff is perhaps the biggest thing to be sorted out, to get the car look good and balanced red. Now it looks like every panel is diffrent colour. If i could find a 916 with that small rust damages, i would buy it.
