U kno what’s funny that I just learned. First off Bas Rutten is a devout Catholic (thanks guys) and that his good friend Kevin James is as well! A degree in theology from a catholic college and I completely missed this catholic fun fact

I can’t think of a worse nightmare than peering across the ring at Bas Rutten just before the bell.

It is very humbling to see another man, particularly one admired, a well-trained martial artist such as Mr. Rutten, going through the same struggles all men go through. But the one thing in common that is more valuable to me is not the struggle itself but the necessity of God that the human being has. In the middle of so much noise in this life, the challenge is to hear the voice of God, recognize it and follow it. It was beautiful to hear Mr. Rutten remembering "staring at the tree" as a child and then realizing the same call as an adult in a seminar. He mentioned Aquinas a few times, and the nice thing is how instinctively He was having an "Aquinas Moment" on the 2nd argument of causation and how that opened the door for God to "sneak in" (the joke is that God was always there..... that Omnipresence thingy). One only has to open the door. I'm happy to see Mr. Rutten following the call of sanctity that we all should aspire to as our ultimate vocation. God bless,

Yes!!😃 firstly, he should have self-control and be the calmer of 2 parties but if the other party engages he should know how to hold his ground.

I enjoyed this very much. Such an interesting man and conversion story. I used to take Israeli fighting and self defense classes and for warm-ups, my instructor would play a recording of Bas Rutten calling out punches (one, one-two, one-three, etc.) and sprawls (and he yelled "sprawl!" way too many times, in my opinion). I told myself if I ever met him I'd yell "SPRAWL!" at him.

I loved this. Wonderful. I am a bit confused about the kids in his house that went "thru the wall" and died?....... Anyone understand what happened.

Bas is such a wise, level-headed guy ( now ), and I just cannot understand how he believes the story of Christianity and buys into also, the supernatural claims of it ( or any religion for that matter). The contradictions in the bible and evils and complete immoralities ( killing first born children etc.) that the god character in that book commits ...and etc., etc., is evident to anyone who just reads the book/s. I love Bas and think he is such a great person, but damn, I find it mind boggling that he follows any organized religion.
