As a father...I believe it is your duty to teach your children...male or female....how to defend themselves....I'm not saying turn them into professional fighters...but they need at least a couple years of training on striking, submissions, and how to fight on the ground. There are sheep in this world and there are wolves. Teach your children not to be sheep so when the time comes....they are prepared.

main duty as a father is giving your kids a community where they don't really have to defend themselves - because kids, as the name suggests, are not ready to defend themselves hitting back a bully is not defense, by the way... it's just normal interaction

I do not have a cauliflower ear & I have & will fight when pushed. I have lost count of my # of fights. Never lost. Yes I may get hurt someday but I live without fear of any man. I am basically a welterweight. You do not even half to be half as goid as Bas, if you keep your head and are trained well, you don’t have to put up with crap and/or disrespect from anyone. I have lived the way I wanted to. No regrets. Cowards die a thousand times. I will only die once. - Dan PS my core training is aikido/aiki jitsu and boxing but I have other styles in my arsenal as well. Their talk about barfights reminded me of the time a guy I didn't even know spit on the back of my neck bc I was talking to his ex gf (who was a friend of mine for years). Needless to say the guy attacked me shortly thereafter and I was proud that I totally handled the guy without even punching or kicking him, just tied him up and hip tossed him to the ground in a reasonably gentle way. Then a bunch of bouncers ran up and threw that guy out of the club, and said they saw the whole thing go down, said I could have hurt him but didn't, that's why they let me stay and threw him out.

Cool story. I stopped a guy from getting in a fight in Gold's Gym Las Vegas. He was arguing with a UFC fighter back when it was bare knuckle, and few knew about it. Things kept escalating and I jumped in and asked the fighter if he was that guy I saw in the UFC. He said yes, and I shook his hand and said it was nice to meet him; then I said to the other guy, "Let me talk to you over here," and told him about the new pro, no-rules, cage fighters. He asked if he should go should go apologize; I said let him cool off for a while, because he's still mad, I could tell.

BULLY: My bully started selling drugs after school. He spent time. He got out and became addicted to that shit too. Last time I heard about him he was homeless. BAR FIGHTS: one night a random dude was drunk and bothering the girlfriend of one of my mates, he was too shy to react. I was sick of it and invited that guy to stop. He challenged me to go in the parking lot to “talk”. I said yes, and smiled. He saw I was half his size and my mates were laughing behind me. So he calmed down and said “no, I’ll be smashed” then he sat down and stop bothering us. He didn’t know, but he felt something. I was competing at European level at the time but we featherweight are never taken seriously 😂. I didn’t want to fight so I’m happy how it ended.

Cool story. I knew a a K-1 and MMA extreme fighter in Vegas who came back from the rest room to see some black dude chatting up his girlfriend. He told the guy he was her boyfriend to get lost. The black dude said he didn't like the rude tone of voice. My friend didn't apologize; then the guy asked him if he wanted to fight. My friend said sure; it was the only thing he knew how to do! -- he fought all the time, as pro kickboxer, full time bouncer, MMA, etc. Like going up to a pro golfer and challenging him to a golf match. My friend hyperextended the guy's elbow outside after taking him down because he felt like practicing submissions that day.

I saw him weeks later walk past me with his T-shirt up, stuck on the top of his sidearm. After I saw it, he pulled his shirt down to cover the pistol, but he made sure I saw it.

1:49 "I don't remember" is actually the worst thing a bully should say in this situation. Just apologize. Or at least say "I don't remember BUT I'm sorry if I've ever hurt you". If the guy you used to bully tracked you down, he's prepared and you're not. Bullies forget, because to them, bullying is "fun". The bullied ones never really do. Because, to them, it is a crippling trauma on their ego that needs to be exorcised. They hate your guts, they've been dreaming of hurting you for years and they're willing to go to unbelievably crazy length to get you. Just fucking apologize.

I remember watching Ray Sefo outside a nightclub in Auckland who was one of the worlds best kickboxers in K1 working as a bouncer in the early nineties before he became famous. He was squared up against this big guy ready to fight and Ray threw a mid body kick at this guy and then Ray all of a sudden slips and falls flat on his back. Probably due to some loose stones and the hard flat soled shoes he was wearing. The guy looks like he had just got a get out of jail or hospital free card and turns around and runs. Ray picks himself up looking very embarrassed with dozens of people watching. Moral of the story even the best fighters can have a bad day on the street, it’s so unpredictable out there and Bas knows that to.
