I bought a T120 Black as my first bike ever at the age of 57 and it has been the best decision ever. I love how civilized it is in the city and it has been fantastic on the single lane highways and big freeways. I did change up the suspension, front and rear, to give it a little better feel. Overall, I am in love with riding and I’m glad I jumped at the opportunity to buy this bike. As a matter of fact, this channel was one of the reasons I convinced myself that a 1200CC bike was okay.

Triumph T120. I ride gravel backroads with an open face helmet for weekend joy. I know my T120 is not the best suited bike for those roads, but I just love the bike for all the reasons that T120 lovers describe. I am so grateful that I did not get a practical bike, but one that I love. And like BugMoto - I often think about my gorgeous bike when drifting off to 💤 sleep.

I like this advice a lot. Go with your emotions and heart and remember that you're human. When your emotions change, which they do, when you fall in love with something else, just trade it in or buy another bike. It's only money ... 😅. My very first bike was a 1970 TR6R. I kinda wish i still had it but don't regret for one moment moving on to a CB900F, VFR750F-L, KR-1S etc., etc ... today I have 3 bikes and don't entertain the question "what if you could only have one?" I've got a wife and two grown sons, no one ever asks me "what if you only have one?"

I went to two dealers to look at my freak bike - Indian Scout. I test rode two of them, 2017 and 2024 models and felt nothing. Then I went to a Triumph dealer to look at T120 and when I saw it standing there I had such a huge grin on my face. I knew I came to the right place. But then I looked at Scrambler 900 and instantly knew, it's going to be a Scrambler 😃

Great advice Bug! I’ve owned a Royal Enfield Classic 350 for about 3 years…… great little bike that got me back on the road after taking about a 10 year break…..yet I kept stopping in a local MC shop and was drawn to a Triumph Speed Twin 900. Visited that bike and sat on it about 50 times before finally just saying screw it!…. I want it!… so… i bought it…. What a bike!! Loving it! So you’re spot on….. go with what your heart tells you….. we only have one shot at this… And it all goes too fast… Enjoy… Thank you for what you do… Ride safe everyone!

When I got my first bike after a 50 year hiatus I was looking at RE Classic 350, Triumph Street Scrambler (900cc) and Triumph T100 (900cc). I ended up with the T100 and I set it up for easy good condition dirt roads with shorty pipes (British Customs) and 80/20 tires. I still love the T100 big time. But, a year later I ended up with a low mileage used Classic 350 for 3K as a second bike. As I get older the lighter 350 will likely start to take over my riding time. The T100 is still manageable for now. I agee with all this advise. Follow your heart. If your heart changes down the road, make a change. No worries.

That's how I felt when I saw the new Trident 660 in yellow. Pure love. It was like a cyberpunk vehicle designed with some retro flair and all of the modern tech. I was determined to make one mine, and when I visited the dealership to have a closer look, the sales manager was like "well, the blue and red just sold, so I hope you like yellow". I had to put on a poker face since that was THE color I wanted. And since there's only 1 dealer within thousands of miles, there's no way of knowing when another would be in stock. So I pulled the trigger and immediately sold my KTM. I really enjoyed the KTM, but the styling never sat right with me. The Trident, on the other hand, was a much better fit for my sensibilities. Then after hearing the sound, it was all over. :)

Like yourself, I have acquired a second bike that I also love and for a different experience/purposes to the Bonnie (Suzuki GSX 8R as a light sports tourer I can also take to an occasional track day). I'm fortunate that I'm able to afford the two of them, and if I could I'd have a third bike (dual sport most likely) for gravel-road touring. If I had to go down to one bike though...the T120 is the keeper.

When buying a motorcycle, as with everything else in life, you must be very clear about what your needs are and act accordingly. What is ideal for me may not be ideal for you. It is difficult to give advice when you do not know all the facts. When you know which motorcycles fit your needs, go and test them and decide with as much information as possible. That is my advice. I tested the T120 and the T100 and finally decided on the Speed Twin 900. For my needs and conditions, it is the best.

My perspective is it’s hard to choose just one, or more specifically, just the right one. Whether you have one bike or five, there will always be another bike that catches your eye. Different bikes ride and feel different from each other. I have a Cruiser and two naked sports and I absolutely love each one for their own characteristics, yet I still would own more if garage space allowed. My local dealership has everything from Ducati to Royal Enfield. Every time I’m there for yearly inspection or tire changes, I leave a trail of drool walking around. Just couldn’t imagine picking one and never wanting another.

When I was riding home from making this video I started thinking about the 1200 XE and whether I'd ever trade the 900 in for one... I rode one last year and it was a riot. I absolutely loved it. The only thing I "hate" about the T120, and it makes me think about selling it, is the wheels, specifically tube tires. I recently got a flat and it took the better part of a day to get the bike back home, rather than a 15 minute plug repair with a tubeless tire. Now I'm gun shy about riding more than locally for fear of another aggravating ruined day with a flat. My conundrum.

I’ll leave it to you youngsters to choose your wife and your bike with your heart and soul. These days I’ll choose both for practicality 😂

Your yellow helmet isn’t stupid. Visibility is important, so let the local “hard cases” sneer, they’re all riding Harleys or Indians anyway. As for the Bonneville T120, Bill is almost there. If you like the neo-classic, but don’t want the hassle of tires needing tubes, go with the Speed Twin 1200. Better bike for most of us, a little lighter, with a little more modern convenience and a little more “ hot sauce”. Best solution is to buy the one that speaks to you, and ride it until you aren’t in love with it any more, or you remain in love. I have a couple of bikes and they are both “da bomb” and I hope I never have to sell either. Meanwhile, I am plotting and planning for a 1200 Speed Twin. Buy the bike you love if you can. Don’t “dilute” your personal joy of riding by settling for less if you don’t have to.

What brand is that stupid yellow helmet anyway? Asking for a friend just n case he wanted one too

Tell your friend it’s the HJC V60 and that it’s wonderful. :)

You think a lot like me... so, after all, "great minds thinks alike", isnt it??? For now, I have a BMW F800 GS and Ducati Monster 797. BMW for longer distances, Monster for short bursts. Ride safe my friend!

Helmet/goggles question. Why? Over a full face? Seems less visibility, and another thing to fiddle with. 🤷♂️
@BugMotoChannel3 күн бұрын
Two reasons. The first is that it's just fun. I dunno what's fun about it, but it makes me happy in the oddest way. But second and more important, there is zero fogging up with this setup, and this time of year, all of my other helmets will fog up to some extent. Not this setup though. It remains completely fog-free.
@teslageek92573 күн бұрын
@ Fun is good 👍 I’ve used “pin lock” set up with my full face modular, eliminates all fogging. If you’ve not tried it, you might enjoy.

Oh look, I'm first here, I don't know what to do with myself. Oh yes, I know. It's to tell you to take the Scrambler across America, and leave the Tiger at home. Listen to yourself, you're going to do the ride of a lifetime, why wouldn't you do it on the bike of your life?

@@GoingSolo-sfs well if it wasn't raining, blowing a hoolie, and only 3° above freezing I'd probably be riding my Triumph Scrambler. So not a huge amount different.

All I really want to do is wander around the country on my bike
@tomoates85683 күн бұрын
On a bike like the Scrambler? I mean you could tour on it if you really wanted to, but it's going to be extremely uncomfortable on the highways of the US. It might tour in places that are more compact like Europe no problem, but imagine going 80 mph on the highway all day getting absolutely punished by the wind. Yeah a bike like the Tiger would be better and more enjoyable on a trip like that

First. Love your helmet. So cool. Second if motorcycles are your only mode of transportation then obviously practicality becomes relevant. Or you pick the tool to do the job. Having ridden bikes for over 50 years and owned over 48 motorcycles of every configuration I can say I have come full circle at age 65 and ride a Bonneville speed 900. Why? Because I no longer have a desire to do 3 week long adventures or cross the country several times. My adventures are more the 3 day trips or day rides. When I think back to my most memorable rides, the ones that come to mind are the rides where my bike was simple. CB400F. CB750K. So ya retro bike. Room for your ass and a gallon of gas lol. The big touring bikes were comfortable and a lot of fun but don’t resonate and find memories. Adventure was the simplicity of a reliable naked bike, go just about anywhere. Interstates are boring. Needed but boring. The most fun I have are exploring the back roads and byways. Those memories stick. In the end I agree with you 100%. Whatever bike makes your heart skip a beat and you can’t stop thinking about is the one to get. Practicality becomes relevant damned. lol. Great video bug. And once again I truly dig your helmet. Very cool.

Hey @AlexOnABoat, I was thinking the EXACT same thing after I made this video. I started contemplating which would make me happier (as opposed to which is more practical...) I imagined myself rolling up to the end point in Boston on my Scrambler and it brought a smile to my face... Then I got the crazy idea that maybe I should just buy an old Harley and really go for it... I guess I'll need to do this trip more than once.

T-120 too big? For who? The T-120 must be one of the easiest and most comfortable bikes I have ever ridden! My wife is only about 165 cm tall, and loves her 2023 T-120 Chrome edition.
