As a believer in Jesus and in my walk . i just got on some deep seeking and understanding the word and bible study . we all fall short of the word of God and ive made secular music before and I'm also a music producer but now I'm using this gift that God gave me to spread the gospel for the kingdom of God . i wanna take this walk seriously now more than ever and ive learned allot .but now its all for the kingdom . so since i make my own beats im a christian rapper . and will only want to work with christian rappers . its not about me no more .its all about God . 💯

I’m a producer/engineer and I just started my walk with Christ about a year ago and the moment I started it I felt conflicted on what I should do with my life. I’ve recorded, produced, and even sat and wrote songs with so called “secular” artist. Ive always wanted to write and produce music for the kingdom; I just never knew exactly where to start. Watching this video helps me a lot because a friend and I talked about my take on this and asked if my heart was drawn to changing what I do. I was torn a bit because the conversation didn’t go the way I expected but it laid a precedent on my heart to ask God for answers. My relationship with God has gotten stronger and I can say in good faith at this moment in my life that He is still showing hisself in me and my heart changes every day because of it. There have been moments (before my walk) where I straight up did not want to work with an artist because of their lifestyle and behavior. I feel as if God has gifted me the heart to read other hearts and in music, that is the main machine to creating it. I’ve been using that to determine my next steps in being a creative as well as a Christian. My take on this is trust what God shows you and tell you. Thank you for this video!

Hey DeAngelo, I think the best way to decide on this issue is to remember that as a Christian, everything we do should honor and glorify God. So if you make a beat or mix/master a song for an artist who is singing immortality to world, do you think God will be honored by that? I like the chick fil A example but the difference is that when u serve food, the person who eat the food does it for themselves and doesn't influence others. But when it comes to music, that influences other people's spirits and that can build or destroy peoples lives depending on the music that's being shared.

This is a good question and I thank God,Jesus that you seek for answers. ------------------------- 1- The Bible says it is God that puts in us to will and do for his good purpose. (phi 2:13).So the ability to understand and make music is a gift that should fulfill the good will of God. In my humble understanding of the scripture it is not the will of God, Jesus to advance the secular music industry. However if he does advance that industry it will be as a judgement for those who rebel themselves, but not for holiness. So, they can believe more their lies (2 The 2:10-11). 2- A Christian can work with a secular we do it at our jobs and Paul says it in (1 Co 5:9-10), However, when it comes to the things that are holy like praises/ melodies/books/prayers/etc that the lord inspires us, there should not be a coalition/mixture with the world. For we can not sit at the table of God and at the table of Demons (1 Co 10:21). Just as a spring can not produce fresh water and salty water (James 3:11). We should not sell the things that the lord inspires us as (Mat 10:8) says. I do not want to contribute in the advancement of satan kingdom and industries with the gifts God gives me. Because music is to reach the soul, It can either pervert it or uplift it in God, Jesus direction. 3- When we sing/ i prefer worship, we give back to God the treasures/revelations he has laid in our hearts. Simply as in the parable of talents in (Mat 25:10-26). Why shall we now take God's talents and give it to the enemy of our soul? Now, if we are simply talking about music theory like mathematics it is not a problem to teach to everyone and they will decide what to do with it. We can even get paid by giving such courses. However, when it comes to the things of the Lord let us keep it Holy and not conform ourselves to the current age ( Romans 12:2). I hope this helps, as a worshiper I work hard to keep that separation.

I love the question. My opinion coming from a ex hip hop head is dont compromise. I deleted over 30 years worth of hip hop/worldy music after I was saved. Music is so much different then most things like a chicken sandwich for example. Music can heal and it can be the theme music to a drive by shooting. I dont know many gangsta doing drive bys to Christian rap or gospel. What I'm saying is be proud to be a Christian and or a Christian producer. Trust God, open your bible and pray that God brings you the right artist for your music/ faith. He can do all things right? So if you stay faithful to him threw your businesses, threw your music his blessing will be so much more greater. Knowing that you never had to go outside of his will, will be the greatest reward looking back. To many Christian artist/ producers are trying to be more like the world. Instead of the world trying to be like them. It's hard being a Christian, we have to be better examples. Lecrae is very talented and I remember something he said in an interview it was something along the lines of not considering himself a "Christian Artist" just call him a Artist. Some might say that's fine, my opinion differs, we need people to stand up and say yes I'm a Christian Artist and everything I do I do it for Jesus. What's the point of walking with God if you deny him in front of the world, make songs with the world, act like the world. It lowers the bar, it thumbs down the faith. The line has been blurred and blended. The music industry is Luciferian and death, sex, pride of life, and anti christ mockery. I.E. upside down crosses, sun worship, eye of horus worship, baphomet worship, queen of heaven worship, pentagram worship etc. We have to distance ourselves from these things. Lift up the name of Christ even if it means that the world hates us. They hated Christ they hung him from a tree. Just know even you make a stand for him he will make a way for you! It's not necessarily a bad thing to produce clean secular music without cursing and provocative language but the main thing is to make Jesus known in everything you do as a Christian. We have to remember that words are influenced by something and will influence someone. I believe that if you part take in producing a song that has cursing in it then your joined to that song and some what supporting the message. On the flipside if a Christian who goes into a circular studio or uses a circular producers beat, it's different matter because the message of Jesus is being preached and influences the listeners and the producers. I believe it is so important to not compromise your faith because that comes before your gift and should be the fuel for what you do. I’m new to music production but I think it’s okay for Christian’s to produce for secular artists if they’re main goal in the future is to work mainly with Christian’s. I just wanna keep believing there’s gonna be enough Christian musicians and Christian artists that I can genuinely survive and make a living from making Christian pop music but it’s either that I’m gonna have to cater to other genres of Christian music that are much bigger than Christian pop or just produce for secular artists. I just think I haven’t looked enough because I would love to find a lot of Christian artists to work with so that I would be able to sustain myself in the music industry doing what I love.

Hey Dutch Smith, I know how you feel I have been in your same situation. One thing that I do know is God is faithful and if you feel in your spirit that he is calling you to do music for the kingdom you should follow that. The reward will be much greater and the impact that you could have will be beyond you can imagine. When you are creating your music don't try and please man just do what you feel the spirit is leading you to do in your heart and everything else will work itself out. Honestly if one is truly a Child of GOD, one should not work with such individuals that create music with such content as mentioned in the video. Why? 1. The Christian Faith speaks against such languages, encouraging Christians not to speak that way nor encourage such . Ephesians 4:29 (NLT) 29 Don’t use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them. 2. Also you working with such artist mean, you are encouraging that kind of Lifestyle. Romans 1:32 (NLT) 32 They know God’s justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too. I used to be in this position, but as soon as i took CHRIST Serious and Believed, it all came to an end and saw that it was indeed wrong to use my Gift for CHRIST JESUS and for the Devil at the same time. I agree in just making music. I give all of my efforts to God. Even if I'm playing moonlight sonata I play those songs to glorify God. I don't listen to secular music anymore I just mostly listen to different jazz styles to get different expressions I can use as a musician. I know it sounds strange but its very few gospel songs or music I listen to now. I don't care about rap music, I don't really like modern gospel regardless of style. I just believe in the scripture of Psalms 91:1. As a believer I've heard the real sounds of heavens Angel's. That's an expression of music I allow God to minister to me about and sometimes I have no understanding what they are saying in the heavenly language I just know it's sacred.

No they should not. A musician of God is sold out to God for His Glory. Unless you want to be a secular artist who does Gospel too. You already know the answer, you just want to hear someone say what you want to do so you can be ok with it. It's your decision. Free moral agent. A Christian/Gospel/Worship/Praise artist does not perform they are worshipping, praising... Read the Bible about the musicians who played for God. The secular musicians music is not dedicated to God nor does it glorify Him. Some artist straddle and you don't know who they are for. Christian Music is a service for The Kingdom of God. You ask because you are attracted to worldly music because it sounds good and makes your flesh feel good. This is your journey...Your relationship with Christ. Your decision. Ask Christ the same questions. Sometimes you may have an opportunity to do music for a movie...like The Prince of Egypt and you work with secular artists to produce a score for that movie...but it still has to represent God. But to create trap beats for a trap artist nxt hit CD is WRONG. To create club music, twerk music, lay a Trac for a singer talking about fornication...you know. But you will be tempted and tried. You have to make that decision. We all do. I wondered away from God with my music. Brother, if you belong to HIM...(and not everybody giving you advice about this subject is His child no matter what genre they sing) HE WILL HAVE HIS HANDS ON YOU.
