This was great and simple preaching on the subject. As an alcoholic I struggle with this. Glory to God that He has broken the chains of bondage from alcohol and has granted me faith and repentance to stay away from it. I thoroughly enjoy a lot of Mr. Prince's preaching, though I don't agree with the Pentecostal "speaking in tongues".

I don't think it is wrong to drink alcohol occasionally, like Psalm 104: 15 calls it : "wine that gladdens a man's heart" It's a problem when it's a 'go-to' when things get you down, I have been there in a small way. I got to the point where I wanted to stop all together and told the Lord I would never touch it again, and I haven't, and I am so happy I did it! Jesus is my 'go-to' in times of trouble (at all times, actually!😊) "But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life." {John 4:14} All Glory to Jesus! 🤲🕊✝️❤

I agree with you that this is a great question to ask. Unfortunately, the answer the Bible gives us is that NOTHING we do for the sake of glorifying God is seen other than filthy rags. So, I propose another way to ask this question: knowing that all our works are as filthy rags, can we use any circumstance to glorify God? It’s a subtle difference and it’s in the heart’s attitude. Will God be glorified? I don’t know. But can I try to glorify Him in all that I say and do? Yes! “All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭10‬:‭23

To me, it’s not important. One of the main reasons I don’t drink is that it’s a downer. After a while when all the laughter and silliness wears off, I felt like something just sucked the life right out of me. Not to mention two that you’re also just pissing your money down the toilet.

Alcoholics need to have Jesus touch that shame so they can be healed. Having a glass of wine isn't going to magically make you an alcoholic. It's either trauma, genetics, or a process of bad choices that become habits. As he said, walk in the middle of the road and not in either ditch.

I mean yeah but you have to remember context in that fresh and pure water was limited in those days and they lacked refrigeration. Fermentation provided safer fluids to drink. Becoming drunk/drinking more than the body needs is where the problem is, but it is not necessarily unfair to argue that in modern times any alcohol consumption has become unnecessary and therefore sinful. I personally think each person needs to search their hearts and motivations to know whether they ought imbibe or not.
