I think Fear the reaper ending should be the canon ending, mostly because he storms arasaka tower by himself, which is impressive on its own.

However, they all have one thing in common, V raided Arasaka tower, and was never seen again not too long after

Not necessarily. I have a video talking about the exact opposite about that very same ending. V still did do everything they set out to do. Just because they got their implants taken, doesn’t mean their actions didn’t become legendary. IMO at least

it should not at ALL have a cannon ending. as the players WE are V meaning your first playthrough without any guide is YOUR cannon ending, if you’ve never had a playthrough blind before, then you don’t have your own cannon ending based on your choices, you just have whatever you want based on the information the internet has provided for you.

In my view, the game's various endings have more to do with the _emptiness_ of 'becoming a legend', with your only memorial a named drink at the Afterlife. The Tower ending of Phantom Liberty really drives this point home, if Jackie's death, Johnny's fade into irrelevance and futility, and V's eventual fate, whether it's going into Mikoshi, leaving Night City, or even becoming 'a legend' in the Sun ending...but losing love along the way...doesn't already make the point. It would not surprise me if Cyberpunk Orion establishes The Tower as the canon ending, and the Night City of 2079 becomes the setting for the sequel to 2077.

But gentlemen, don't limit yourselves. All endings are canon. That's why you can only choose one per game. And because of that too, the sequel will not take V into account, except as a name reference. The main character of the sequel will know the legend of V, but he will not know how he/she died. Just as V also knew the legend of David Martinez.

If they did a sequel they can just say V stormed the tower and mention nothing else. The Aldecaldoes leave NC regardless and Rogue doesn't run Afterlife either through death or selling to V who then goes on their space mission if you do it anyway but through the Aldecaldoes. So just have someone else run Afterlife and any legend ending can be canon.

I mean in terms of overall lore. Obviously I think everybody should pick what they want. But if Orion has any sort of connection to this game in terms of V, I feel like there shouldn’t be a solid ending. It’s cool having that myth exist with our V

No I dont agree , sorry ... but David and V are both as an old term goes " One Hit Wonder" , I might consider Corpo V because he actually put in 2 1/2 yrs into the Corp and then another 6 months as a Merc with Jackie , plus using the remaining 6 months he has left gives him a 4yr experience . However I still dont feel that this is enough experience of life and skills and jobs , unlike Morgan who had 10+++ years of service , so where is the Morgan Blackhand story?

Nah, David was nothing like a one-hit wonder. You forget there was a several year timeskip, and David Martinez was considered a Legend and 'Every Santo kid' knows about him. You learn this when V unlocks their quest and starts asking what happened to David.

I like to think the canon ending is either Don't Fear the Reaper, Temperance, or The Sun. DFtR makes sense because god damn, it would definitely make V a legend and there's no disputing that someone in their situation might choose the option that only puts themselves at risk. The Sun makes sense because fuck it, why not take the 6 months you've got and live it in peace among a family that loves you, and possibly also with your girlfriend? Lastly, Temperance makes sense because why not give the body to someone who can actually use it and take the digital afterlife with Alt?
