Could you imagine a Disney airline operating an MCO to SNA flight package complete with a coast-to-coast park hopper ticket?

SNA to MCO would probably have to be weight restricted due to the short runway at SNA…

There was once an operational runway on Disney property back in the days when Disney himself was planning things - had that continued things could have been different and Disney might have had its own airport, bypassing the need to transport guests to and from MCO and keeping guests on property.
@flaps1019Ай бұрын
Fascinating - that would have been a huge differentiator

This was great man, love the setup and how you lay it out. I would love a Disney lounge at airports flying to MCO most and you can get in when you show your Disney park reservation. Really get the trip started the right way.

It used to though, they did a partnership with Eastern Air Lines, then later with Delta Air Lines after ending it’s partnership with Eastern, idk what happened with events between the 1980’s-2024 that involved Disney and the airline industry

Here me out. All CRJ-200s configured in a 1-2 with 30 seats. Similar to JSX with the E-135. This way they can fly out of business jet facilities rather than terminals
@deltafox757Ай бұрын
I’d start out with A220-300s.
@flaps1019Ай бұрын
@@TJsWorld7 the long haul / widebody angle is tempting especially considering all the demand from UK… we see 4x daily nonstop to London alone and soon will be 5x with Delta in the mix later this year

@@flaps1019 The A330neo would be a perfect fit as it is both relatively cheap and it has a small backlog compared to the 787.

One other possibility is that Disney could buy parts of an existing airline say JetBlue but only convert a part of JetBlue into a Disney sub brand with a Disney package, experiences etc
@pendolinofan643Ай бұрын
From the part of the UK I am in you can fly: TUI Airways UK (Charter airline) Virgin Atlantic (Full service) Aer Lingus UK (English part of the Irish flag carrier) TUI is a tour company and has Disney package holidays, something very European and so dose Virgin Atlantic’s sub division Virgin Atlantic holidays. Virgin Atlantic being 49% Delta owned 51% Virgin group.
@majid7925Ай бұрын
A crash would be a disaster and a delay a major headache. Imagine the mindset when you have a delay and now people ask for refunds for the whole experience as delays mean a lost day at the resort or expectations of refunds at Disneyland as well
@MarylandbronyАй бұрын
I actually agree with you, and you do make great points. Although i would probably have it as a subbrand/partner to an existing airline. Have a Disney brand & all that jazz as your airline, but it's run by a United or Detla.
@flaps1019Ай бұрын
That could work - have the airline experts manage operations, then Disney handles the aircraft/cabin design & passenger experience aspect. Not sure United or Delta would be too into the idea though - as they're pretty focused on maintaining their premium/luxury image at the moment. Might be better to just hire some veterans from one of those companies to handle operations and just go to town on the theming
@Starz10pАй бұрын
I think it would work out for Disney to do this, but also have a hub at SNA as well as orlando. And maybe operate a flight or two to Toronto and Vancouver to access the Canadian audience

Not sure if it would be logistically possible or even legal but theoretically they could collect their cruise passengers from the plane on Disney busses, take them through a dedicated secure immigration check, then drive them straight to the terminal and give them a dedicated entrance that allows them to bypass security since they wouldn’t have been out of a secure area since leaving their origin airport. Regardless it would be the ultimate step in making a magical baggage experience: check your bag in at your origin airport and it will be at your hotel that evening. They could probably offer a service similar to what Emirates offers where you can check your luggage in from home.

Partnering with a breeze or avelo first maybe the best way before completing becoming Disney Air maybe the easiest route. I believe breeze has a SNA-MCO flight. The target customer would have to be the Disney fan/group that would want to package everything together, especially if they're not already loyal to an airline. PS: if Disney were to partner/take over an existing airline, I'd imagine they could leave the existing team to run the airline which would leave Disney to handle the marketing.
@flaps1019Ай бұрын
The Disney-to-Disney flights do sound pretty epic although I'll bet it's a pretty niche crowd - probably why Breeze is only going to operate it 3x per week, at least at first

@magnustan841Ай бұрын
I don't know, lovely idea, but to mix family fun and characters with the stressful environment that is domestic US air travel, sounds like it could annoying pretty damn quick. I think they could dellve back into airline partnerships and offer special disney-themed flights to/from Orlando, much like EVA has done with their Hello Kitty flights. It would be very difficult given how huge the domestic scene is in the states, that disney-themed plane might need to be deployed elsewhere at short notice, but its worth a shot.

Heck no! Nobody in their right mind should be in the airline business LOL! It's one of the most cut throat industries there is where it's really difficult to turn a profit. For many major airlines, their loyalty programs are worth more than the company itself! If I were to join an industry, despite how much I love it, I would avoid airlines!

It’ll never happen…the airline industry is incredibly volatile, always has been, super high costs, small profit margins, there’s a reason why hundreds of airlines have gone bankrupt since the Deregulation Act of 1978. Every once in a blue moon the industry will get a very prolific entrepreneur like David Neeleman who have a long track record of founding successful airlines which stayed in business (he founded JetBlue, Breeze, WestJet and Azul Brazil, as well as Morris Air, which was the first to introduce e-tickets, that airline was sold to Southwest for that technology). But without someone like him, Disney will never take that risky of a gamble.
