Applying directly to new jobs on the company website or LinkedIn does not work anymore You either get auto-rejected or aren’t differentiated from the +78 other resumes. Increase your odds of getting an interview by using creative outreach: 1. Identify your list of companies you would be most excited to work at (ideally they are actually hiring for a role you are capable of doing). 2. Avoid auto applying to random companies at all cost! 3. Search LinkedIn for the sales managers and recruiters who can influence the interview process. 4. The sales managers want great reps for their teams and the recruiters get paid to hire people (you are helping them by reaching out). 5. Send cold emails, cold call, & LinkedIn DM each person asking if they are still hiring and presenting why you are a good fit (BE BOLD). Creative outreach proves you have the sales skills required to do the actual sales job Do the job to get the job

From what it sounds like, it's that you have unfinished business. You have a lot of what if questions regarding your past with the company you got laid off from. You are not sales and sales is not you, find out who you are. But if anything, go back into tech sales and chase down the goals you didn't get to complete. You are a lot more experienced now, you have proof of concept that you do have what it takes. Financially wise, you can never go wrong with buying property especially if it's for yourself. 28 is still very young and money is not everything, you can have 250k in the bank rn and lose it tomorrow. So let money not be the sole driving force and instead do what genuinely makes you feel whole and proud of yourself.

Hey Trent, I stumbled onto your channel a little while ago and then was suggested this video about getting back into software sales. I thought I may be able to offer a little value here. Like you I started in tech in ICT and software. Long story short I earned a huge sum of money doing it, I got over confident, I left my role, took on the company I worked for, got crushed and let it get to me. I sat on the fence starting many other businesses over a period of 14 years, it sucked because my heart was not in it. Finally I got back into tech and afterwards thought what the "F" were you thinking? Tech is your thing, it makes you happy and it's what makes you money. Moral of the story, the longer you wait to get back, the more a career in tech gets out of your reach and the less you will earn over your career. You only have 439 days away, I would say get back in fast! Good luck : )

Yes you should. Your channel has felt more and more less relevant to me the longer you have been out of software sales. I have been a follower since 2021 and recently was considering unsubscribing as I got to the point where I don’t watch much of your new videos whereas a year ago I would get so excited when my KZbin feed told me you uploaded a new video. Thanks, Trent, for always providing authentic content. As an enterprise BDR in martech, I've watched almost all your videos and still feel like I have so much more to learn from you. If you have unfinished business in software sales, go for it! Just remember it can be a never-ending grind and take a lot of mental and physical effort to be a difference-maker, but it's also incredibly rewarding.

I took I time out of software sales to finish my book and be promoted to a BJJ blue belt. Well, I have achieved both those things and something was still "off". I made enough savings to have a full year of only writing and training but somehow I missed sales. I was hesitant to come back until you made this video and I realized I wasn't alone. I'll be back. @@ElCalifornio619it’s more lucrative and subscription based so you can’t technically run out of pipeline because things can always be updated, new things come out etc. but there is other roles that are very lucrative. Payroll, SaaS, Luxury Car sales, medical device sales, etc. find what’s your niche and go for it. In sales YOU are the job, because you can work anywhere really. Whereas normal jobs for example being a mechanic is what do somewhere specific. Sales you can take with you
