I stayed til the end and I loved it. Also that last parting thoughts about not mixing up action and reflection (not the ass clapping) shared by John Paul are food for thought, and words to live by. Thanks for all that you do gang.

Wow this came at the right time. My gf who has been battling anxiety/depression for a long time just broke up with me because she doesn't feel the same happiness in the relationship and worried that in the future she can't guarantee that she'll be happy. When we started the relationship she was in a very dark place. I've been there throughout the relationship supporting her and loving her wholeheartedly bringing her to therapy and getting her out of this dark place together as one. We've gone through many ups and downs because it was really hard fighting mental health issues. But we were happy (so I thought ) Fast forward today she is in a much better place now. She has grown to a woman and is now much more independent. She is still fighting it no doubt but she has the tools now to help her cope with it. Few days back she dropped the bomb all of a sudden without prior notice without any time/chance to work things out. But we spoke and now we are taking a break. What do I do? I'm feeling broken, empty and lost into why is this happening? She has been everything to me I was everything to her. We've seen our future together a future that we were planning to build together. She says that she loves me very much but is not as happy anymore

Take the break and let things play out naturally, give yourselves some personal space/time. Do check up on her from time to time but don't force anything. Life works in funny ways, if it's meant to be it's meant to be and vice versa.

She has gotten better and said Heartbroken, thanks for your time and efforts. You have fixed me and now I want to move on so all the best in your life. You deserve happiness. Good luck next. It is terrible bro. Sorry that this happened to you. It is terribly unfair

She probably got together at that time because she felt she didn't deserve a more "eligible" guy After she recovered, she's now valued herself much higher and despite your loyalty, she has to put herself first to get even more happiness than a crutch could give her. In fact, the crutch is slowing her down, now that she can run. She may have "loved" u but true love never fades. Don't believe her words, she's actually trying to make herself feel better by making u feel better with lies Y ? well The abruptness shows that she don't give a fk and she wants nothing romantic to do with u as far as possible Let me tell u, even if u gave her a kidney it wouldn't matter U have to wipe her existence from your life , your phone , as if she never existed before Especially if u know u can't pull a girl like her normally Just don't fall for the trap of trying to pull another better or similar in terms of appearance Be smart . And yes speaking from experience. The new world today is toxic and superficial to the max u don't even know 1% of how bad it is. True love is 0.1% of the world now..virtually doesn't exist

Denise, definitely nothing wrong if/when you choose not to start a relationship with someone with a mental illness...lived through about 10years of from primary 1 (when I knew what was going on) to Form 4 Secondary school when my dad passed away...it was a bad time for my family...my mum especially...saw her with bruises many times, then had to go visit dad at mental asylum many times...when he's home on medication - light is on but no one is home situation. Even my mum eventually admitted she should have divorced him when she found out about his mental illness..it was a definite relief after his passing. Don't be a hero...your life will end up being a zero in this situation.

I’ve been battling mental health issues for years and the guy I really likes wants to go through it with me. I did give him chances and we’re still in the process. Thank you Daily Ketchup for the videos. They’ve really been a good thing and I’m still a student so I really learn a lot of things people my age don’t really talk about. I think it’s inspiring 💪🏼✨

Being with someone depressed and listening to them trauma dump all their issues on me made me fall into depression. I started to have a negative outlook on life and became jaded easily. Thankfully, I managed to distance myself and got out of that 'woe is me' mindset. I switched from waking up crying and anxious( it was horrible) to feeling genuinely excited, hopeful and grateful for the day. Because of this incident, I actively avoid trauma dumping to my family and friends because I don't want them to feel heavy or sad after our conversations. Once in awhile is fine (balance), but doing it all the time made me an overly emptional person.

I've stayed until the end and I'm FEELING strongly relatable to it. I once broke up with my bf because I self-introspected and knew that my existing (back when I broke up with him) status couldn't have him in my life because I struggle myself as a person. I was not depressed. I just felt insecure about my own future and life. And during that period, I wanted to have NOONE in my life - no friends and partner. I just want to hide inside in my house and not socialise anything. No person in my life = No responsibility about myself My bf felt devastated about the whole situation, yet because of his own health problem as well, he couldn't find ways to get back to me and he decided to let me go even though it hurt him so bad. Eventually, I got better and so did he. We were still friends and did contact to each other to ask each other's condition. And, yes, we got back together. Now, we try our best to work on ourselves and at the same time make a conscious decision that we do it together with a better understanding that supporting each other will be the better way than breaking up. (hopefully so)

To those struggling w mental health issues, seek help for your own sake; You deserve happiness, you have a right to seek it and its okay to have a partner while you are facing your troubles. For those who are afraid to be with somebody w mental health issues, you have a right to say yes/no. It is better to fear and have a sense of your own capabilities than to recklessly rush in for somebody/something you are not ready for. Its okay to want to save somebody, but sometimes we need to recognise that we are not the right "Help" at the moment & that the best thing would be to redirect to somebody who is!

Stayed till the end. Felt both sides of the dilemma. However, don't think there is ever a straight answer. This will always be a MCQ with all of the above. Even then there isn't a time frame for vibe-ing and tribe-ing, and Depression isn't a destination, Its a journey, a numb, papercut. A castle of glass, to burn it down, from the inside. Before I push you away. one step closer, rather push me away. Lost in the echo, lying from you. One more light. Given up. Bleed it out, crawling. Some where I belong, a place for my head. leave out all the rest. Every one is just, lost in a new divide. Is this depression? or an excuse for one?

Anyone out there who can offer some advice. My SIL has depression & always insist that her things are being stolen. My brother is having a tough time cos she feels like he’s not backing her. She has called the cops several times & even they are aware that she’s depressed. She refused to seek help. How can we bring her to seek help. They have shifted house several times becos she insist that the thief steals her belongings.

I'm not a therapist so take my advice with a pinch of salt. From what you told me, it seems like your SIL is showing signs of paranoia. Like someone is out to get her or do her harm by stealing her stuff etc. As far as I'm aware (i might be mistaken), paranoia is not symptomatic of depression. Depression usually manifests with signs of low energy and motivation and no willingness to do anything. Maybe your SIL's paranoia is a sign of some other psychological condition like schizophrenia etc. But like I said please take this at face value and consult with a psychiatrist/psychologist. It's really hard to convince people to visit a psychiatrist/psychologist because they'll assume you're calling them ''crazy'', but that's because of the stigma that still exists around mental health. Hopefully you guys can find a way to gently convince her to perhaps talk more deeply about what she's going through and once she feels safer and more understood she could be more willingly to consult with a trained professional. There's no way you or anyone can ''force'' a person to seek help if they don't want to. Perhaps start with helping her realize she might be facing some mental health issues and that it's nothing to be ashamed of and that there is help available. Provide her with the resources (hotlines/websites/reading material) should she ever want to help herself.

Sorry if this comes across as cold and uncaring but I think anyone who uses depression (or whatever mental health issue) to get out of something important like a relationship shouldn't be in one in the first place. And I say this because if you do that, the line often doesn't stop there. It can go on to more serious things like I have depression so let's get a divorce. Or I have depression so I'm going to quit my job or I can't take up responsibilities of caring for my child any longer. Slowly, I'm sorry but it becomes an excuse. Life is hard. It is for everybody. If you need help, get it. But don't give up your life because you can't cope with it.

My case jialat, she depression and needed to break up for similar reasons talked about here, i told her why not a break from seeing eacb other or something which she refuses and lets me go. Not even 3 weeks later i spot her with another dude holding hands at bus interchange when i was otw to school. I didn't even confront her about it cause i was in confusion. I decided to check her best friend's insta for anything and BOOM! IG story group photo of their clique and she was hugged by that same dude from behind. 🙃
