Just found two of these 2000 seadoo xp gems last summer / spent some $$ making them beautiful and perfect. I can’t go anywhere with out getting compliments on these machines. They are becoming more rare around my area and stand out better than any others on the water. Looks wise these things are gems and head turners. Fast and fun nothing like a two stroke power bann. It was an adventure getting them in 2022 but completely worth it. The fact that you actually get wet riding a jet ski again and that they are rockets with vts. You just don’t stop smiling and the old thumb throttling- nothing like it 💪🏻. Hold on……

It was definitely one of the coolest looking skis. Even to this day it stands out. I had a 97 w/ the 787 that I brought bike to life. It was fun. First suspension XP I rode was at the 2000 Seadoo dealer show. The 951 definitely had more grunt than the 787.

I only worked on a few 951’s bc the dealership I worked for was a Yamaha and Kawi dealership. But I remember people talking crap on how hard 951 was to work on. I laughed every time bc all I thought was “have you ever had to do a set of carbs on a xlt or gpr 1200? Lol” that Yamaha exhaust was a puzzle to get out and in every time. I probably removed 500 easily and some come out with ease and some will have you pulling hair and M-F….ing the world.

Have a 2000 seadoo xp and 2022 gtx limited 300. I’ll take the xp any day. It is so much more fun to ride. The hull design is unparalleled.

I have a 2001 gtx951 Di version and 2001rx di. The di versions run really well and are very fuel efficient, and really have had no electronics issues other than voltage regulators, and a starter relay. Freshwater only. Both however have had crankshaft failures and rebuilds at 100-150 hours, and cost $1500+ to rebuild with my doing the labor. No mechanics want to work on these things, certainly not carburetors. Stick with the four strokes for a far more reliable ride and long term value. If you want a vintage amazing experience buy any standup or the new yamaha superjet. Those 2 stroke motors are bullet proof and the new superjet has a superb 4 stroke. The standups are in high demand and prices for used are very strong.

Just bought a 99 gtx with a 951. Was just fully rebuilt and looks brand new. Can’t wait for summer

No one raced the XP the Kawasaki STX-R was eating its lunch. The 951 is also the least reliable 2 stroke Sea-Doo had, when worked at the dealership back then had about 10 a year with bad top ends or broken rods many with under 100 hours

My buddies parents bought new 1996 XP and GTX's as a compromise to get their kids of racing Motocross. We spent the summer dragging them to all of the lakes. The XP always felt to small to me being 6'2". It was fun to throw around and jump, but oddly wasn't any faster then the heavier GTX in most water conditions.

1999 XPL 951 is a solid machine Personal Opinion best looking design light weight fast , Carb Model also have a 95 XP 787x Race Model best of the best light weight and very fast ...

Not related to this video but does Seadoo publish fuel consumption numbers as Yamaha does in their manuals? Can’t find the Gti 130 and 170 numbers for gph.

Actually because it’s a two stroke a new motor is 1,000 with exchange and rebuild it yourself much cheaper. Just went through it - bought a new motor and jet pump as well as impellers on two 2000 xps. After everything with 2010 double trailer I’ve got 8,000 into them and new graphics kits. But now for 8 I have two iconic jet skis that will only become more rare and sought after. Nothing on the water today rides as thrilling as one of these beasts. They will become the banshees of the watercraft world.
