Those are Zenoah g3800 clones, with 40.5mm bore and 32mm stroke. Probably with cat muffler. They are not strato nor clamshell. You can remove the base gasket and also deck the cylinder if necessary. I have Alpina C41 and Iskra GC401. I like them for doing all kinds of experiments and I think that are great value for the price.

@@novicelumberjack I did some searching also and seems like Farmertec also has some clones in this cc range, like their JonCutter G3800. kzbin.info/www/bejne/epWpdHZmmc2CZ68 unboxing and test done by "DIY with Uncle Cy" I did some modifications to my Alpina C41 like removed the cat mesh from the muffler and removed the base gasket. Exhaust port is funny in these cylinders - eyebrow style "}". That tip of the exhaust opens at 104°, which is very different from Iskra GC401 saw: 92° aTDC. Iskra performs more lively for limbing. Torq? Don't ask, don't have any :)

I got the older version s145 last year on a whim. Looks the same to me with different plastics. Not clamshell and not strato! But has a VERY restrictive cat muffler. Mine responded extremely well to a base gasket delete (got it to .018) and Ironhorse style pipe. IMO way better than the new strato poulans in that same market segment! Tho I've only ran about 6 tanks through mine. They're a zenoah clone, combination of g3800 and g4200. Actually, for the average homeowner, I'd say way better value than a stihl ms180 Probably stronger too!😂

I've had an S160 for three years. No problems. Wore the 16" Bar and chain out, and replaced with 18" Oregon. Been felling 24-30" trees and cutting up. Works great, cuts with the 18" bar no problem. Haven't done any mods, all stock. Yes, it would cut better with muffler mod etc, but I've left it alone.

@artpatronforever
@artpatronforever Жыл бұрын
That is what I am thinking too. Ryobi and Homelite and Black Max are all the same 50cc 2 ring piston engine and a 20 inch 78 drive link chain that is not a low profile. So that is a price point match for a saw that is likely way better and comes with a case. Black Max is cheapest of the bunch but all are the same saw. The 2 ring piston is unusual to find in a cheap saw, likewise a chain not a low profile, and it comes with a case. Was one of these type saws already reviewed?

@@sethlozeau2962 Having easily available interchangeable parts from 3 different brands for the same saw is a good thing too. Black Max is absolutely the same as the Ryobi or Homelite but a lot cheaper for not having green or red plastic artistic trim color panels only supplied as basic black.

I’ve cut a 2 cord with it so far and it’s been great starts right up cuts fine not the fastest but I don’t cut for money just for my stove and with the free wood I’ve got the saw has paid for itself.

I hope it works out for you, because I just bought the Troy-Bilt 16" (TB4216) which I'm pretty sure is the same saw, but 16", of what you bought. I only paid $140 though. I figure for that price, if it only lasts a few years, I'm good, and if longer, then great. I'll probably fire it up tomorrow. I hope I'm not feeling the "buy once, cry once" mantra by the end of this experiment!

Copy of a Redmax G3800. The GZ4000 was the start of the Strato charged saws. Any "GZ" series is strato charged. If you could get your hands on a G3800, and do a muffler port like BLSnelling from the Arborist site. That little 38cc saw will blow your mind. I'm not sure what they are a clone of but they are the same as Troy Bilt and Remington saws. I've ported the 42cc version just for shìts n grins. If I can put a link here to a before and after vid I'll try. Its not a KZbin vid. The air filter set up is like not running one so you know. I ended up "engineering" a velocity stack on it and clamp on filter. I wouldn't run it without pulling the cylinder and chamfering the ports first as mine was trying to score right out the box. No strato on the one I did. Cat in the muffler. Removable cylinder. Transfer caps. I gave it to the brother in law and he uses the crap out of it.
