Those are Zenoah g3800 clones, with 40.5mm bore and 32mm stroke. Probably with cat muffler. They are not strato nor clamshell. You can remove the base gasket and also deck the cylinder if necessary. I have Alpina C41 and Iskra GC401. I like them for doing all kinds of experiments and I think that are great value for the price.

Exhaust port is funny in these cylinders - eyebrow style "}". That tip of the exhaust opens at 104°, which is very different from Iskra GC401 saw: 92° aTDC. Iskra performs more lively for limbing. I got the older version s145 last year on a whim. Looks the same to me with different plastics. Not clamshell and not strato! But has a VERY restrictive cat muffler. Mine responded extremely well to a base gasket delete (got it to .018) and Ironhorse style pipe. IMO way better than the new strato poulans in that same market segment! Tho I've only ran about 6 tanks through mine. They're a zenoah clone, combination of g3800 and g4200. Actually, for the average homeowner, I'd say way better value than a stihl ms180 Probably stronger too!😂

I've had an S160 for three years. No problems. Wore the 16" Bar and chain out, and replaced with 18" Oregon. Been felling 24-30" trees and cutting up. Works great, cuts with the 18" bar no problem. I have the Craftsman s160, for 3 years now, and only used it for trimming limbs off small trees, probably 2 inch max diameter limbs and it did the job just fine, starts on the third pull every time when cold and once when warmed, being a novice lumberjack I'm not sure how often you should sharpen the saw, but this one needed sharpening every three cuts, and the chain had to be tightened every few minutes of use. It also leaked out all the chain oil while in storage - the shelf it was stored on is coated in chain oil. So time came (like now) when I had to cut down 8 dead trees - 4-6 diameter trunks - what a struggle that was - it wouldn't even cut them - at full power the chain simply rotated on the surface of the trunk until it smoked. I replaced the chain with a brand new chain and it very slowly cut through the first three trees but that was it - the tree trunks were 3 inches! On the 4th tree the chain just rotated on the surface of the trunk - no cutting whatsoever, not even sharpening the chain helped. Forget about levelling the cut trees trunk to ground level. I don't need a professional lumberjacks saw to do the work around the yard but I really would like a chainsaw that would cut. I just bought the STIHL MS 162 hoping that it would at least cut trees up to 6 inches in diameter, I haven't used it yet so cannot report on its tree cutting abilities, I don't care if it cuts super fast so long as it will cut them. I really hope it works, but before I use it do I really need a professional 800 dollars plus chainsaw to cut 6 inch trees or should I return it now?
@novicelumberjack6 ай бұрын
Okay, so obviously I should have started with this comment. Sounds to me like you are having real problems with your chain, not your saw. If the chain isn't cutting wood...stop blaming the saw. Blame the chain. Sound like you have it on backwards, are cutting dirt, don't know how to sharpen, or a combination of all. You probably don't need a new saw at all, just need to learn your way around a chain. And side note... most saws leak oil when they sit. Learn to put it away empty or sit it on absorbing pads

That is what I am thinking too. Ryobi and Homelite and Black Max are all the same 50cc 2 ring piston engine and a 20 inch 78 drive link chain that is not a low profile. So that is a price point match for a saw that is likely way better and comes with a case. Black Max is cheapest of the bunch but all are the same saw. The 2 ring piston is unusual to find in a cheap saw, likewise a chain not a low profile, and it comes with a case. Was one of these type saws already reviewed?
