everything must be done from a *POSITION of LOVE*, our motives must be pure and hypocrisy must be avoided, but we are called to promote the things God calls good. I've had people 'correct' me at times in my life, and my knee jerk reaction was never good, but I'm so incredibly thankful I pushed past that and realised this person truly loves me and cares about MY walk with God. with gentle but firm encouragement things get ironed out. a very difficult situation regardless :) bless you

We can't judge the sins of those who are outside since we ourselves were doing the same thing. What we can do is to share the gospel with them every chance we get.

That is until it starts to become casting your pearls before swine. It is just as hateful to tell someone over a Ober again that they need yo repent as it is to mot tell them anything at all. Why? Because they harden their hearts in unbelief when instead of repenting at the word of God, they count it nothing special because you devalue it by always telling them. We have to make people see the gravity of these things and the way God has shown us to do so is to offer them their hope and let then decide what to do with it. I think the conversation with the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4) makes John’s point. It’s telling half of the story to note that Jesus talked with a woman (who was alone) and a Samaritan and a sinner. The other half is that one of the things he said was, “The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.” It’s such a direct statement that I doubt the average present-day Christian would associate it with being loving or even ‘speaking the truth in love’ which would seem to require more punch-pulling, mincing or evasion than we get here (or anywhere, really)… and this is love incarnate (which, incidentally, tells us how little we may know of what real love is). Piper is right. This is not the “chill with sin” pseudo-superiority of progressive pro-mercy thinking. This is Jesus Christ, the great physician.. it is the incisive surgical blade finding the very place. This has to go! Piper is also realistic enough to know that attempts by us (the less perfect son’s of God) to act out a careless and wrong-headed imitation of Christ in this encounter are as likely to end with us as her new boyfriend as with her as our new convert. It’s hard to think of exhortations to rescue others from sin in the New Testament that aren’t paired with warnings not to be tempted ourselves.

I would keep out of it. There are the obvious things that we should keep out of..dirty jokes and bad talk etc. People will notice that you dont join in, and might question you as to why. Its not easy, for calling out people they can turn on you and make you look very stupid indeed. We arent to judge, and there will come times that friends and family will challenge you on things where you have to stick to your principles. Its not up to us to convert anyone, but rather to live that new life. God will lead people across your path at some stage. Thats when you get to speak the Truth.

What is a Church Without Anguish! before doing anything put God in the midst; God put in us His Spirit to guide and helps us. Ask the HS to help you share God's love with your family and show the things that God don't approve.

Be a living example - join a church or fellowship of other believers who can help you - pray for God to provide true believers to help you and encourage you - ask that God would show you what to do. Confront them. There is no harm. The sooner you do it the better. There will be no pretence. It will all make sense to them. Let them hate you. Whoever loves mother or brother MORE than me is not worthy of me - Jesus said - to show - he did not come to bring peace, but a sword - amongst households. God will always be with you. Be careful of pride. it is the number one tactic of the enemy - for our souls. Today. Pride comes in many shades. Pride is fear - fear of man. - pride is anything that perverts the righteousness of God. Pride is shyness, pride is low self-esteem. @@user-rz6nt5yj1c shalom and blessings! Interestingly they may look at it as we are being prideful and difficult, narcissistic. I have really struggled as so many family members turn against me. I also have been unequally yoked with a husband who separated from me and now my children are so confused and it’s a tug of war. So many time I feel let them go when they are so opposing to me because their dad is in opposition and I just get met with resentment. They are only 13 and 10 and it’s such a difficult age. These have been such confusing times for me as the reason for him divorcing me is because of my faith convictions. Thinks I am too religious if I go against my conscience. At this point they are even farther away from God and I blame myself. I didn’t know what to choose- if I didn’t obey conscience I could still be with my children and they could be holy. They have been put in public school from homeschool and I am lecturing them and they just don’t want to hear me anymore. The worldly things have got their attention. Did I do the wrong thing? I had to pick God or my children. I have been asking Christ to bring them back to Him especially my oldest. Please pray for my family. It’s been so heartbreaking for me as their mother and I just have many nights with tears hoping they will love Him first. I keep praying for more Godly people in their life where I can’t control. God bless the Body of Christ. These days are difficult but our Savior is worthy of all the praise.

I love this question and the answer you give. Unfortunately this was posted five years ago and it’s even more difficult now to do this because many of us are working remotely. I work in technology and my job is nearly 100% remote right now. I probably couldn’t measure how fast I would get fired if I just casually reached out to a colleague to explain Christ to them. The technology sector I’m in means that I interact with other humans very very little. When I do I am doing my best to live the Christian virtues I should, but there is no natural or organic way to bring coworkers to Christ in my current set up. This is something I pray about from time to time. Thoughts?

Matthew 18:16 states that we should only be willing to reprove the so many times for sins in general before we have to question the legitimacy of their claim to Christ. @@LitoLochoss that is not what I am saying, but you're implying it. We can't judge a non-believer because they don't realize they're in sin, in the first place. Show them love and then, over time, they will ask questions. That's when you tell them they're wrong. There's a difference between judging them and letting them know what they are doing is wrong. That part, yes, we should do. But, how can a person know they're a sinner if they are dead to it? Judge in love for non-believers, but don't try and condemn them because I have witness Christians do that way too many times and it definitely doesn't bring people to Christ, but the opposite.

I do need some advice from you, however, regarding some other elements of God's Laws and how to follow them. 1. Leviticus 25:44 states that I may possess slaves, both male and female, provided they are purchased from neighbouring nations. A friend of mine claims that this applies to Mexicans, but not Canadians. Can you clarify? Why can't I own Canadians? 2. I would like to sell my daughter into slavery, as sanctioned in Exodus 21:7. In this day and age, what do you think would be a fair price for her? 3. I know that I am allowed no contact with a woman while she is in her period of Menstrual uncleanliness - Lev.15: 19-24. The problem is how do I tell? I have tried asking, but most women take offence. 4. When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odour for the Lord - Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbours. They claim the odour is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them? 5. I have a neighbour who insists on working on the Sabbath. Exodus 35:2 clearly states he should be put to death. Am I morally obligated to kill him myself, or should I ask the police to do it? 6. A friend of mine feels that even though eating shellfish is an abomination, Lev. 11:10, it is a lesser abomination than homosexuality. I don't agree. Can you settle this? Are there 'degrees' of abomination? 7. Lev. 21:20 states that I may not approach the altar of God if I have a defect in my sight. I have to admit that I wear reading glasses. Does my vision have to be 20/20, or is there some wiggle-room here? 8. Most of my male friends get their hair trimmed, including the hair around their temples, even though this is expressly forbidden by Lev. 19:27. How should they die? 9. I know from Lev. 11:6-8 that touching the skin of a dead pig makes me unclean, but may I still play football if I wear gloves? 10. My uncle has a farm.
