Thanks Anna. This is the sort of advice that needs to be really widely spread. There seems to be so much nail damage going on in the name of beauty!

I agree! The trend right now is to “how to make the clients nails look good for social media”. Seriously. I just got an ad from one of my suppliers for a “Russian Manicure” class. No, the answer should always be “how do we make clients nails better, healthier and more beautiful”. I have to reply to them explaining why this mentality combined with such invasive technique is a bad idea. Ps. It’s a 5 hour class. It’s a big “no” from me

Thank you for your excellent explanations. I will not go to nail salons as their focus is on acrylics, gels and mechanical filing that really damage my thin nails. You are focused on nail care and l have learned much. Thanks!

Thank you so much for so many great advices. I so much would like some length on my nails but they always brake some how. I can now see why you are saying keep your nails sort even very short. 🙂🙃
@TheSalonLife2 жыл бұрын
When they are this damaged and weak at the end yes, the length is going to cause more bend to the nail and that will cause more pain and possibly more trauma to weakened nail plates. When the nails are too hard and they don’t have right flexibility they can break high up and that can be very painful and very difficult to correct.

Love your videos! I am repairing my nails as well! I had very bad eczema on my hands to the point where it ate my cuticle area, my matrix was sooo inflamed (looking back now with what i know from you they were veryyy inflamed and swollen) my nails were growing out ridges and waves but going horizontally. Everything was so sore, my nail bed and plate was so sensitive just the air breathing on it hurt. But this makes so much sense why my eczema kept getting worst. I am in canada and do you know if I can get dazzle dry here? Or should i order online? Also have you heard of glove in a bottle? This lotion really helped my hands heal!

Very informative. I’m working on better moisturizing and then will send some photos for your review.

If I go "naked" then my nails grow in a healthy manner with just occasionally applying nail oil. After three consecutive polish applications, they do peel from the tip. It has been this way for years. I can only polish for a few days and then take a long break or I get the bendy/peels. I'd love to know the product to use so I can shorten the "naked" periods. :)
@TheSalonLife2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lauren! Are your nail very soft and bendy?
@TheSalonLife2 жыл бұрын
Ps. This is not uncommon. Some people’s nail plates don’t do well with any nail coating
@LaurenW8882 жыл бұрын
@@TheSalonLife a little on the bendy side. They don't usually "snap" if I break one. More like a tear from the sides.

@@LaurenW888 I found The Salon Life when researching Dazzle Dry to decide wether to buy in 2020. I have to say I do love it, my nails were decent but always look better when I remove the dazzle dry. I have less peeling and the system bends better with your nails than traditional polishes. If you have the means it’s worth a try even the mini kits!

I have always thought soaking off gel mani isn’t damaging. I think most salons try to file off and over file which leads to nail damage. I didn’t think gel mani that damaging. Appreciate all these videos.
@TheSalonLife2 жыл бұрын
We don’t know how this was removed though. ;). Many people scrape off with force which is damaging and peel it off (talking here about some of my clients wink wink)

Hi Anna, in one of your videos (I can’t find it now) you mentioned using retinol to stay young. I was wondering what your am and pm beauty routines were

Yes, it was one of the KZbin lives. Prescription Tretinoin. Hi can explain more if you are interested. I keep thing very simple :)

Is it bad to use nail clippers? I noticed you mostly use nail files. Are nail clippers ok?
@TheSalonLife2 жыл бұрын
Clippers are ok unless the nails are very hard. I prefer to use file to avoid cracks when the nails are brittle. On toenails I usually use clippers. Make sure they are sharp though.

Muchas gracias 😉
@TheSalonLife2 жыл бұрын

So when a nail lifts like that, does it change the shape of the free edge forever?
@TheSalonLife2 жыл бұрын
No, well, hopefully and usually not. My nail is normal now. It has to grow out and re-attach

13:44 the silver lining: that our nails will grow out faster when there's damage 😅
@wormwoodc2 жыл бұрын
I think what she meant about the sidewalls refers to how the free edges don’t have a clearly defined point at which they stop at the corners like typical nails, the whole thumbnails look as though they’re in danger of lifting off the beds

OMG, Anna. NOW you tell me that rubbing chicken breasts on my butt won't give me that little bubble butt I've wanted for so long?! You could have told me sooner,. I've wasted about 40 pounds of chicken. 😞😡 🤣 Thanks for the very educational vid. I'm dealing with a bit of nail separation or nail bed shrinkage on both thumbs. Hugs

Oh trust me, I wasted even more chicken and my butt is still flat. So speaking from experience 🤣
