I've recently gotten a Red-crowned Amazon He is so amazing, and loves to get head scratches and eat apples!

Congratulations! I certainly love mine. Be sparing with the apples. They are one of the foods highest in fructose which is not something they would eat in nature. In nature parrots eat unripe fruit that is low in fructose. Amazon parrots need more of a fat free and low sugar diet compared to other parrots. That way your zon will stay healthy and be a companion for a long time!

I want to get a double yellow headed amazon parrot but I will wait until I retire from the military. I currently have a sun conure and it's hard enough to have someone watch him during missions. They aren't often but it would be better if I waited. He's super cute BTW!

I think that is a wise choice. When you are gone on a mission, does your Sun get mad at you when you return? What's his/her name? We went away for ONE night, 24 hours. Our parrots were MAD!!! Thank you for serving~ I love my country (not the politicians) and deeply appreciate those who protect it/us. Easy to do when you've seen other countries... we are very blessed. I hope the politicians keep it that way, especially when there are people, like you, serving.

Is it OK to keep two males of parrots in the same large cage? I would prefer male and female but I don't want them mating and having babies. But I'm hoping two males would keep each other company and get along.

They aren't like flying rats, they are very smart and intelligent......but if you have seen videos of a cockatoo.... you might see that it's like having a 2 yr old
