Great video! I love the brother's keeper attitude also! I hope that when I get my company going that I remember that, and keep it in my values. So, as a beginner who is earning a youtube degree in detailing, what I have learned is that I should never clay a car that I am not about to machine polish. Claying leaves scratches. It does remove contaminants, but it still leaves scratches. I won't clay unless I am about to go full paint enhancement. That seems to be the most widely held belief among all the videos (like a lot) that I've seen. Like I said, I am just starting, and only just a couple days ago got my polisher, so if I'm wrong, I'm here to learn too. It might be helpful to look at though.

Great advice about doing the interior first. I always focus on the customers primary concern first. Everything else is complimentary as far as the customer is concerned. It’s irritating to get out of your routine. However, a customer like this only has one motive for booking an appointment. Get that out of the way, and you will have completed your service.

Louis, no hate, just some constructive criticism. In my opinion, this goes hand in hand with going above and beyond. When doing floor mats, I would say to put the mats somewhere that is not on the floor. As a customer I would not want to see my floor mats on the floor. I fully trust that you will take care of it and be careful ,but for some customers they may not think the same. I would still do the 2 bucket method and still take time and care on the customers paint even if you can tell they do not care about the paint. I think it speaks volumes to treat every car like its a lamborghini or similar. Great work on the detail and looks amazing.

@@daltoncrawford4849 totally agree with you. 100% Reputation is more important than money. You’re so right. 99% of detailers miss. The most important part of the interior detail is the drivers seat area. That’s the place they notice the most and pay the most attention to. Plus usually the driver is the owner or breadwinner/alpha of the family. Famous detailing expert Yvan Lecroix said the exact same thing.

I had something similar happen I had a van with dog hair removal quoted them 60 per hour and the customer wanted 1 hour I said I'd only charge 60 and do what I can it was the last car of the day. after I was done and also ran out of light. Customer asked how long I spent I said 2.5 hours and they gave me 120. next day they said I missed a spot and didn't like payingn 120. I apologized and offered for them to come back and I'd hit it again. should I have even did that since they're the ones that asked me how long I worked on it?
@eyecandydetail Жыл бұрын
Id say maybe don’t charge per hour. Instead think about how long it would take you and determine how much you’d like to make per hour. That way they know what they have to pay instead of them checking on you take make sure your not dragging time. They actually owed you $150. Also when they ask how long the job will take tell the an average time depending on your speed. Tell them “ the detail will take as long as it needs to bring your car to a satisfactory level. My main concern here is tuning in a job I could be proud of and a job that you’re so happy with that you would want to recommend me to others.” You did the right thing on offering to go back even if she haggled you. Your reputation and professional matter more than money. Some jobs are Ls and we just have to be able to know how to size up the next customer that gives you the same red flags. You dont have to please everyone. You spot a red flag? Respectfully decline and let the next person deal with it. Hope this helps (:

What happens when you come across a customer who refuses to pay after car has been detailed?
@eyecandydetail Жыл бұрын
Thats a super good question. Check this out I personally have never had this happen to me but i don’t doubt that theres detailers who had this happen to them. Here a few tips you could use to make sure that this doesn’t happen. 1.Size up your customer. If he has weird or bad vibes I would not service him 2. Whatever you guys agree on, have it in writing like text/email so that when when he agrees its all there to refer back to. 3. Upon starting detail, have the customers give you keys and let him know that he will get them back when the detail is done and invoice is paid.

Questions for y’all detailers here, currently thinking about leaving my full time job to do detailing full time, been having a hard time being able to service people only on weekends don’t have a enough time for everyone. Is everyone part time here or full time ? I’m kinda scared to make the jump, but I would probably grab a night time job just to keep consistent income Any input would be appreciated!
@eyecandydetail Жыл бұрын
I recently moved to full time. Before this I had a night job and also would do side jobs like construction/moving when I wasn't doing details during the week. I worked hard because I wanted it so bad. I disciplined myself and no matter how tired I was or how stressed I kept pushing. I built relationships with my clients and began to see growth. I was scared too as you should be when doing something new and taking a risk. Think positive, work hard and never limit your thoughts. You're going to be okay and the future will be even better for you! Everything you go through is part of the process of learning the business. I hope this helps you.

idk i feel every car should be treated like it was brand new no matter the condition it is in. some people only can afford beaters and to them thats there BMW, lambo etc etc. i got a corolla with okay paint, a few rock chips and some other defects...... if i came outside and saw you contact washing with a foam cannon and 1 wash bucket and mitt and it wasnt a rinsless wash i wouldn't hire you again. the paint may be shit but theres no reason to add to the shit
@eyecandydetail Жыл бұрын
I respect that brotha. I always determine my plan before hand and see what I can do to save the paint. Also she wasnt looking for a detailed wash. She literally told me that the car is beat up so she needs something quick. Me not adding the extra bucket or an extra dwell phase would not at all make the paint any better or any worse. The outcome would be the same. Take a look at a car wash. How many people pass through it a day and how much build up it has before you take your car in. The fact that i rinse it foam it and use one bucket to remove debris from my soft microfiber mitt will cause even less harm compared to a car wash. She didnt pay me to do all the extra things. She paid for me to give it a quick wash and focus on the interior. So thats what we did. If your paint is done for id recommend services to bring it back to life. Your input is valuable! Thank you and God bless. 🙏🏽

I am starting a detail business & would like to know how to offer my customers the clay service without needing to polish the paint.

As long as you lubricate the clay youll be fine. Theres clay that is more aggressive that you should stay away from because the risks of marring are higher! I have done clay on brand new paint and the paint is still flawless. Its just technique
