Baseball, football, basketball are the most popular but cross country running, tennis, golf, cheerleading, soccer, swimming are also readily available. Maryville is a booming town so there is a lot going on there...especially for kids!

I won't disagree with you on that. ;) However, when I asked my FB followers what were some cons about living in East TN, that was a favorable response.
@janhankins9113 жыл бұрын
Yeah, we lived in the Washington/Baltimore area for a while and "traffic" here isn't quite the issue you'll find in places like Atlanta, Los Angeles, Washington/Baltimore, Chicago, etc. I don't usually find traffic here too bad generally speaking, although sometimes the construction can be a royal pain in the patoot. BTW, I took a trip to Houston after having lived and driven in east Tennessee. I was ready to quit driving after two days in Houston. It was AWFUL.

We visited east TN this summer and we just fell in love with the area. Coming back to Houston was ughhh. We loved it so much, we've been discussing relocating. After doing some research, it seems 3 bedroom homes is more of the norm up there and smaller square feet. In order to get anything near what we have in Texas I'd be in the $600K+ price point. That's disappointing, but then again we don't have the beautiful Smoky Mountains.

I just closed my 10 acres in East TN today and moving there from OK due to the No State Income tax since I have a virtual job, Low property Taxes beautiful hills and lots of trees, Lake reservoirs and the 4 seasons not too cold. I am up on the Cumberland Plateau so it is about 1800 elevation. I like the Southern Hospitality and guns laws and no mandates for example. I am going to build a Barndo to retire in.

I love the nature and being able to hike, but also need to live somewhere with people around, so I could maybe meet the future missus. Haha, I also don’t like driving too far for my coffee and groceries. Any places you suggest living? Was thinking Knoxville, but that may be too busy for me. No idea where to start haha. Thanks regardless, as this was a useful video. I’ll be moving out there come April, dang excited for it!

I live in east Tennessee and don't have a iron in this fire, so to speak. I think you'll find that east Tennessee is very much like other places. There are places that are wonderful and safe and you don't really have to worry at all (assuming you are white and don't wear religious garb). Then there are other places where you really just don't want to walk through alone. I'm a woman and I was a runner for many years and ran through all sorts of places by myself with no problems whatsoever. There were other places I ran with one or two other people with no problems (but would have felt uncomfortable by myself--like more rural areas, but that a man would probably not have had an issue with). Then there were places I just wouldn't go at all (and neither would anyone else). Some areas are safe during daylight and earlier evening hours, but you see crimes go up during the "graveyard" hours. So I think "it depends" is the best answer. You can find very safe areas and then you can also find areas that aren't quite so safe.

@@janhankins911 When I used to run in rural SC I'd carry a pistol, regardless where I ran. Makes sense, don't you think? Honestly, a big City with lots of green space might be more to your liking. NYC and Central Park? Seattle? Though I can't recommend it, heroin and vagrancy are making the place a hellhole. But the communists love the same things you do, and are offended and outraged by the same things as you. You might feel more at home in a big City.
