It's worth keeping in mind that cost of living is often correlated with cost of labor as well. I was strongly considering Portland for my next move, but my employer told me they'd be cutting my pay by 10-15% if I did, which mostly negates any potential savings :(

It depends on how much money you make. Seattle is high-rise corporate living. Portland is funky but cheap.

True! Do you live in Portland or Seattle?

If you want City Life: Seattle. If you want Town Life: Portland. If you want cheaper COL:Portland. If you want a better airport: Seattle. If you want slightly better food: Portland (Although seafood, pho,sushi, & teriyaki is better in Seattle) Beer Scene/Bar Scene:Tie Better Paying Jobs/Job Diversity: Seattle If you want access to water activities/ferry hopping to islands/Canada: Seattle (Columbia River is a joke. Seattle’s mountains are better than Portland Mountains. I mean on a clear day you can see Adam’s, Baker & Mt Rainier in some parts of the city with the Cascades/Olympics on both sides of you…Portland has some hills & Mt Hood. Sports: Seattle Overall: Seattle for me. Portland to visit. Everything you can do in Portland you can do in Seattle…but not vice versa. And if Seattle’s too expensive…live 20-30 min away & pay Portland prices lol.

You could always defect to Vancouver Canada 🇨🇦 😊😊Vancouver is a very worthy opponent
@portlandoregonliving Жыл бұрын
Hahaha I like how you used the word defect. Vancouver, BC (not to be confused with Vancouver, WA, is an absolutely beautiful city! I've been there a few times. Thanks for watching!

@@portlandoregonliving ohh yah that’s why I made sure I put BC also , I mean going to Van Wash would be just like moving to Portland right ? 😁🤭By the way is the smoke from the interior fires of BC and Washington hitting Portland ? Today was the worse day here we thought it was over but not a!

Both cities are OK by me. in my eyes, Portland is more populated with trees and pine forest than Seattle.

Debs husband says either way you can enjoy the summer of love! Just be careful you don't step in it! 😂😂😂 Come one come all to the summer of love where everyone gets a hug and then hold hands and share how your feelings were hurt! 😂😂😂 I wonder if any of these people have enough sense left to realize just how ridiculous they look? The summer of love baby!😂😂

@lorrk1239 I live in Washington State, here's an UPDATE: ALL taxes are way too high; gas prices are the highest in the country; this a progressive/communist state and therefore crime is out of control, cost of living is very high, shootings everyday in King, Pierce, Thurston, etc. counties and elsewhere; road rage is a daily event. Washington State is a lumber capital yet the cost of home construction is out of reach for most residents. Competition for 'living-wage' jobs is extremely high so expect to wait at least 6 months (or as long as 18 months +) to land that job. Traffic is horrendous 24/7 due to the number of people who have moved here. High population has drove up prices on everything and lowered the standard of living for all Washington State residents. Example: a run-down shack of a home goes for $450,000 or more!!! Which is why the homeless population has grown exponentially over the last few years. Developers and politicians are destroying the natural beauty and displacing the wild life of Washington State in order to build large apartment complexes with no end in site...it's heartbreaking!!! DON'T MOVE TO WASHINGTON STATE!!!! We do not need anymore population growth!

Shrug i live in Seattle and really like it
@Cloudyconfusion9 ай бұрын
I love how you say all these horrible things that stem form people living in Washington form homelessness to home prices to nature being overtaken, and then say “we” don’t need more people here. Implying you’re happy with all those things since you live there but don’t want anyone else to come. So hypocritical
