As a survivor, please release this song. It might save a life. It takes so much strength to leave the person you swore to love and the life you have built together. You pray when he promises as he cries that it will never happen again. Then it does & even worse. It takes a doctor seeing his boot print in your pregnant stomach, threatening to take your kids from you to wake you up. His father was very wealthy & threatened me constantly because I dared to make his family name look bad. I not only had my ex but his father to fight. When you live in a small town and get no help from the people who are supposed to help you, it is even worse. I know now that police are not always safe and that judges are not always for the truth & justice. Hard lesson to learn when you are an innocent young woman with no life experience. I AM A SURVIVOR!

Totally with you on this! I’m 61 and I also stayed way too long. I’ve been alone since 2005 and never remarried. He did. And she left him yesterday. Time moves on whether or not we are part of it or not and then one day I wake up and realize I have less time here than the yrs I’ve already been here and it’s a heartbreaking realization. Maybe someday I can feel something again for someone.. I’ve been so numb so long I don’t know where to begin. I stayed in a state of constant survival mode, fight or flight and self-preservation that it took years for me to realize this… God bless you on your jour bet! 🙏🏼🩷

No, no, no, your hopes and dreams are NOT gone !! Find something you love, I have gardening, houseplants, learning propagation. I have my pets, I have peace ! You did not leave to be in despair, you left to fly, fly, fly. Find peace and don't let him take from you any longer !! Meals on wheels, blood drives, children in the hospital, find it and please FLY, because your wings are no longer broken ! I love you, we are survivors and survivors do not give up !! 😍

❤ Yes! It’s sad, but it may help someone to stop forgetting who they are. Relationships should never lessen your worth….if anything they should be a reminder of how important you are, whether in a couple or standing alone. Your worth isn’t measured by what others think of you…it’s measured by what you think of yourself, by the way you look in the mirror and see kindness radiating from your soul. I love your voice Matt…best wishes in your career.

It’s hard to take your kids away from their daddy . There are tears and guilt and pain . But down the road there is a new life waiting to begin . I didn’t make it out of town 3 out of 4 times . I, too, am a survivor. I had my face slammed through a plate glass wall and all the police asked for was an autograph from my athlete abuser. After a years’ worth of surgeries, my mouth being wired shut, I found out I was pregnant and I refused, REFUSED to allow a little one to live that way. I won’t say what I did here but I can say that my daughter is now grown with kids of her own and a REAL man to call dad. I have issues to this day with the wires and screws in my head and face but the surgeons did a wonderful job. I’m happy having survived him and cancer and even happier that we found this wonderful man who loves us. Please release this song. Your voice is our pain! Please tell this story for us.

@@t.wesenberg4554 Bless you and all the others that have responded. I am 80 and also am a survivor. I became an advocate for women of domestic violence.for 11 years I heard stories like yours over and over. A leopard does’t Change its spots. For those still in their relationship GET OUT. The average times a women leaves and goes back is 9 times. Please don’t believe the honeymoon phase when he convinces you it will never happen again. It may just Be the last time before you leave this world. Mine went to anger management. They called me from the group To tell me to take the kids and run because he was on his way home.He left their parking lot digging holes in the gravel. The most important thing I can leave you with is:: after you leave you think you miss him and that pulls you back in. You are NOT missing him, you are missing the adrenaline. Adrenaline is addictive and if you can remember How far apart your abuse happened, know that is when you will feel the pull to go back. Find a constructive way To produce your own adrenaline and stay away from him. The book that brought my self worth up was. “Women Who Run with the Wolves” stories that will help you see the different personalities of the Abuser. I may have been able to get free but the result of being in that relationship followed me for years. Breaking the control even when he wasn’t there. The fear of being found. Thank you for this song and please release it as It is profound.

If your a Christian maybe you have FAITH in JESUS. You can only fix yourself. You cannot fix them. Maybe your married & believe the words in sickness & in health, for richer or poorer, etc. You don't have to get a divorce. You can split up & let the Lord assist you in getting you back together. If he decides to Take the road of Jesus Christ, you will see the change. Only then will you return. Jesus does not expect you to sit back & be a punching bag, physical or mentally. He loves you.

I have a daughter that is living this life & afraid to leave due to being with this man for 9 years. Even with the amount of physical threats, she will not leave him. It has impacted my life tremendously for fear she'll end up coming home in a body bag. I'm so lost & continually wonder where I went wrong raising her on my own. I get that she still loves him, just not the reason why. Definitely not the life I wished for her to have.

Yes, it’s very true. The only person you can change is yourself. Maybe by leaving the other person they may wake up, but don’t hold your breath. We are all responsible for ourselves to be healthy and happy. It’s not anyone else’s job to create that but US. Beautiful song, the truth will set you free❤

I have lived through both physical and verbal abuse and I can tell you first hand verbal for me was worse. Broken bones and bruises go away but the mental damage verbal abuse causes is real. I will be 60 this year .i have felt this way. I still have not found my true self but i can say i am a survivor. I even lived in my car for almost 2 yrs . Love this song.
