@@samwhite7693 YES. Some reason, when i first used the AUG in my first ever csgo game, it was actually fairly easy to use and i got a good set of kills with it. Unlike the spy, where i had to train hours upon hours learning trickstabs and how to use the spy normally. I still sort of suck at the spy today, I cannot really do any trickstabs either. But I am still good at spy to a degree. But with the AUG, It was easy to just pick up and use, but with the spy, players will go into the spy without knowing how to use him or what to do and they choose him just because he looks cool.

ThatGuy That’s kind of implicit here. If you’re using the AUG instead of the m4a4 then you’re probably not going to have it equipped. It’s been known, since the crazy rifle update a while ago, that the a4 is better than the a1. The DPS is higher, you get an extra magazine, etc. So by comparing the AUG to the A4 it validates having a silenced rifle for one way smokes, sneaky plays, or longer ranged duels as it’s S P R E A D is considerably better. I've been using CZ,Aug,SG since I bought the game. Reached DMG in 3 months and haven't progressed from there in what has been a year or so. For a new player, I'd definitely recommend M4A4 and AK just because these rifles are more versatile. By no means am I a veteran, but I kinda feel like elements like Pre-firing angles and Retaking bomb sites feel easier with m4/ak rather than scope. For a person who just got into csgo, I'd suggest refraining from buying SG/AUG if you're going to be engaging at short range (example catwalk on dust 2). PS- Forget the m4a1s ,it's trash .

The Aug is based of an Australian rifle called the Steyr AUG which is also used by the New Zealand armed forces. It’s made very cheaply with plastic parts everywhere, but that’s NZ’s defence busk ect for you

I think if CSGO was released today, as it is, with all new players, the "COD/grill-gun" meme would be much less relevant (especially if we were to look at it with entirely fresh eyes and not carry over preconceptions from CSS or 1.6). So I absolutely think people would use it, and I hope new players will start feeling more encouraged to use the scoped ARs. Because one day (hopefully), we will have an entire new roster of pro CS players, you know, the kids who are just old enough to start playing now but will one day become mature and wonderful adults, who have mastered the game. And I am so looking forward to seeing the way the scene and the game will develop alongside each other. There is one point you missed in both this and your SG553 vs AK video, it isn't just which weapon is better, but which weapon you don't want to give to the enemy. Similar to the auto-sniper.

Even assuming the enemy CAN use it, every gun has a counter in csgo. Using an autosniper when attacking, for example, makes no sense with that long-ass scoping time (add to that the fact that it is rather low damage) and you'd be much better off with an AWP. Most people still can't use the SG as well as they do with the AK-47, and if they did, you could always flank them or flash and then peek. It's not like having an autosniper or an SG makes you invincible.

You need to also factor in changes in meta over time. Right now, the AUG just crossed the ‘viability’ threshold, but what are the chances it will remain here for the long term? The M4A1-s/M4A4 will always be in the meta, but the AUG can be changed out of viability very quickly! Right now, the advantage over the m4s is just not great enough to warrant the investment it is to REALLY learn the weapon.

I feel that with the current meta, the pros are already too accustomed to the m4/ak spray patterns, having practiced that for hours. It would be better to see the meta a few years later, when people who have grown with the choice of the scoped rifles over the unscoped rifles choose one over another.

Nope. The M4A4 is way better than the A1-S. The M4A1 shoots really slow while the A4 has a faster rpm. Though the M4A1 is more accurate, the accuracy difference of both guns are so small

I think it's more important to learn the M4A4, because lots of rifles are going to have similar recoil and it's good to get in those habits, because the AUG has a tight climb in scope and since it's there, it makes you REALLY not wanna make counter strike man hipfire

AUG is easier to learn because other fps games usually has scopes so new players that has played other fps before can adapt more easily
