Wow! 14 degrees is a lot. Excellent job of showing and explaining the difference.

Perfect and informative explanation of the difference between the different grades. My opinion is that mid grade will keep you in the lower section so pick a side. I always run as high octane as I can at the pumps. 93 or 94 if I can find it. The best part of this entire video for me was the charts. The numbers never lie!

Thanks for the feedback back. I’d have to agree with you on “picking a side” and going with it.

Mid grade is only a mix. The stations have 3 holding tanks. Diesel, 87 octane and whatever they offer for premium (91,92 or 93). So if they offer a cleaner in their 93 then the mid grade will get some of that cleaner since they use Premium mixed with Regular. Parents built/owned the Exxon on on Hwy 31 in Longview, north of the Mac truck dealer. I had to stick the tanks to make sure the level was correct and check for water.

Yes we do! It needs to be more readily available.

So I have a 2000 Chevy Tahoe with the lm7 5.3. If I run 91 octane I'll get more power? It gets up and goes already no knocking I recently had a code for Bank One O2 sensor I guess being bad or not reading correctly hopefully it's not because of the gas I don't think so because never happened before . Being that old does my truck still have that timing adjustment stuff you said?
@whiplashtv20222 жыл бұрын
Yes, your truck still has a high octane timing table and a low octane timing table. Yes you will still gain horsepower and performance if you use premium. On the 02 sensor, they go out with age. You need to see if it a Bank 1 Sensor 1 or a Bank 1 sensor 2. Bank 1 is your driver side of the engine and Sensor 1 is upstream of your cat, and sensor 2 is downstream of your cat. Sensor 1 is very important and should be changed right away if it has gone out because that sensor affects the air to fuel ratio.

@@whiplashtv2022 ok. It says. P 0420. Catalyst system Efficiency below threshold Bank 1 That's exactly what my code reading says
@whiplashtv20222 жыл бұрын
@@superior3384 Ok, so it is saying that your driver side cat is not performing as it should according to their emission standards. If the vehicle is running and driving fine and isn’t sluggish then you should be too concerned or worried about it.
@superior33842 жыл бұрын
@@whiplashtv2022 oh so it's the catalytic converter? Ok so I'll see if I can redo my exhaust setup. It still has the old exhaust headers and everything is still stock except for flowmaster super 10. I want to run an exhaust set up like yours but I'm worried about emissions test with the catalytic converter. I also don't want to smell the exhaust. Bro thank you so much for helping me . You explain things so well. I will stay subscribed to your channel and support your channel for life. Thanks. Also do you have the place where you ordered your speed engineering headers from and your whole x-pipe and all that I love that setup.
@whiplashtv20222 жыл бұрын
I ordered it all the Speed Engineering stuff straight from Speed Engineering. The mufflers are in the description of the video along with the exhaust clamps, spark plug wires, spark plugs, etc. It won’t smell like fuel until you put in an aftermarket cam.

So if I’m tuned on 93 I can safely put 87 in it?
@whiplashtv20222 жыл бұрын
No, that is not what this means. This is a look at the stock tables and not modified spark tables. If your tuner has told you that you are tuned for 93, then he is the only one that knows what timing he has put in those tables and if it is safe for you to run 87. MANY tuners who say they have you on a premium gas tune will actually copy the high octane timing table and paste it into the low octane table. So basically you have no separate low octane table because both the high and the low octane timing tables have the higher octane timing numbers in them. This is NOT something that I do when I tune.
