SL55 is lovely, well done. Think I prefer it slightly over the M3. It isn't a car for mods but definitely needs a stereo upgrade to android/car play unit, would modernise the interior also.

Boy oh boy!! what a find it is. Even though I have a very emotional attachment with E46 M3s, this Mercedes is just so beautiful and rare in such a great nick. Keep the merc on the promise that you'll bow down to every e46 m3 you see on the road. I do it (in my head) every time I see one since I sold mine.

SL55AMG, I remember these when they came out in 2002. They were epic...and that engine noise...oooo...I was in London one night in 2004 and I saw one that was tuned by Brabus. It had 3 exhaust holes on each side. The noise that one made sounded like a T-Rex...enjoy this one though. Looks really clean. And of course if you're doing a raffle for the M3... I'm in...

I sold my E46 M3 to buy a house. If I wasn't buying a house then it would have been a no brainer. For me a definite keeper especially after all the effort you have put in it. This is coming from someone who has been through the process.

An absolutely stunning example! I also own an SL55 AMG. I have owned it since 2008. Mine is a rare Brabus SL55 K8 one of six cars made for the UK. I love the red interior. I absolutely love it. Enjoy your beast!

I had one in 2003 and every drive was like a NASCAR race. The noise right behind your ears was just addictive and absolutely exhausting at big speeds so I sold it and bought a Rangie 4.4. Nowadays it needs a new Pioneer SATNAV and stereo upgrade. Also, watch out for the repairs but with this one the low mileage is worth the risk.

Wow, brilliant move, you will have more fun, more drives, less mechanical problems, a car for life, sit in that you become more connected with your car 🚗 and you will always look back and think, yeah it’s special 😏 The smug grin on your face, will remain permanently. I say that because I was converted to Mercedes AMG, having owned 7 BMWs from the early error, as the mind matures , so does your taste . Oh Hey 😎, I always have liked that shape SL, but if you do want one you really need the 65 rather than the 55 having 604bhp and 738nm of Torque seems a better suited engine for the SL. 😎

buddy I've never commented on an KZbin video before but you are a "lucky boy" you've got four of my all time dream cars and all with lowish mileage, that Bentley is awesome and the merc is up there, get rid of the M3 they are two a penny (every body building drug dealer has got one!) but I'd still take my chance if you raffled it off! Having owned a 2001 German V8 - brilliant car for weekends, but thats it, you cant run them all the time, or can you leave them idle for anything longer than 2 weeks as something will usually break/die/give in/rust or you can drive them but then something will usually break/die/give in/rust - saying that my E39 is still the best car I have ever owned and its a shame icons like the E34/SL55/E39 are getting rarer, this was a golden period for cars, where theere was a nice blend of tech/mechanics - naturally aspirated engines and direect steering.

I agree with you when you said the Merc would last you 10/20 years. I recently bought a 3 series BMW, 2011 with 4000 miles from new.It may be 9 years old now but has a good 20 years left in it.

It is by far the best colour scheme, I've been looking at upgrading my Sunday car to one of these... But every time I think, whow .. The ABC, then whow, the roof motors, then whow the electronics, then back to whow the ABC struts...800 each, then whow the bi xenon headlights, there a grand each... Both need deep pockets to own especially with the maintenance and running costs. I still prefer the SL55 a much more refined car with the added bonus of a folding hard top!! What a nice example you managed to resurrect!!

A friend of mine has it since 2003 as a daily. Bought the SLS when in came out, but kept the SL, and still has it, driving every single day for the past 17 years, and not a knock. But some rust!

Mate, you are my alter ego. I'm way too sensible to burn money on a luxury car that will cost an arm and a leg to service (and possibly an eye and a kidney to tax and insure), but you just go out and do it. I'm living several fantasies through you (in a gruff manly way of course...grr!), top marks for your bravery. I think you may be right about the Merc; an investment that may well appreciate with time, whereas the Beamer is harder to see as a collector's item. Any car that can top 200mph is special...it HAS to special to handle that speed. Specialist engineering that rivals the engineering behind an F1 car. I find it hard to get my head around someone spending so much dough on a beautiful car, then hardly ever driving it. The previous owner clearly has an immoral amount of cash in the bank. Cars are made to be driven, so few miles on a car like that is like marrying your fantasy woman only to get her to do a bit of DIY and cleaning around the house. Whatever, cracking motor, cracking content, keep it coming mate👍

I'd suggest keeping the AMG, given its overall condition for its age. Some tidy up work under the hood like fixing the engine name plate, alloy castings etc. In another 12 years, will be a rare car and in great condition.

Nice motor, Matt. Nothing beats the sound of a Supercharged V8,its like Christmas, dream girl and Lottery win all at once. Recently watched a Mustang 5.0 litre Supercharged 6 speed manual. When you hear that Supercharger whistling its just a wonderful noise, puts a smile on your face. Get the V8 mate, you will have no regrets, well maybe the running costs. :))
