Should kids be banned from Socia Media?

as a former kid, I don't think kids should be allowed any handheld device first and foremost, and secondly, definitely no social media

Yep, as a parent, I totally agree. Plus, giving even MORE personal information like IDs, facial records, etc to a malicious and predatory company like Facebook is a BAD, BAD, BAD idea. And what Facebook might consider artistic, like showcasing a transgender kid as being creative and artsy, is NOT my idea of OK. Talk to some de-transitioners who are trying to undo the awful damage done to them by adults; sadly, it can't be undone and now they have to live with this man-made handicap the rest of their lives. This video's sample just PROVES what a bad influence social media can be... just as they delineated in the beginning of their video.

Many countries have tried. Many are still trying. But it just doesn't work. Enforcement is impossible - close down one site and ten more crop up. Demand is just too high, and even if all the commercial sites are somehow shut down people will eagerly set up their own shadow communities. People just really, really like porn.

Enhancing controlled access mechanisms is likely the most feasible way forward. Children of this day and age need to acquire digital skills early on. Thank you for the insights.

They don't need to just acquire digital skills. They need to be taught digital skills. There's a difference. Letting them run free on the internet is not the way to do it: It's something that must be actively taught in schools.
