Should Metal Gear Solid be made into a movie?

I would love an animated series that each season delves into a different game and each season has a different animation style, also after watching Arcane i would love a MGS series like that ( but after hearing they spent 250 million on that one it seems like and impossible thing to do). It would be kind of strange because i don’t think Kojima would be able to participate as a consultant or anything, so at the end Konami would have the final say and i don’t know if i trust them.

I feel like there are some things that can be brought to an animated series and it do very well. However, I feel having a live version of Metal Gear would definitely convey the human element needed to have some of the plot and action sequences hit just a little harder than an animated story. It doesn’t need a movie or tv show…the story has already been presented fantastically in the games. I don’t think watering down the story for a 2 hour movie or limited series will do it any justice.

I agree with you 100%, but when it comes to the world of MGS, I'd love for my non-gamer friends to enjoy this story. Since longform story telling is a thing now, I would agree that a 2 hour movie isn't enough. A TV show would be great.

It basically already is, i love the games but there are points where it just feels like kojima may as well have just made movies, especially when it comes to mgs2 and 4

I see what you're saying there. You can tell he loves telling a story, and when it comes to MGS, I really don't mind the long cut scenes.

I agree. A TV series adaptation will be way better than making a two-hour movie. They would end up getting negative reviews if this movie was made. Not only will they receive negative reviews, but fans will be disappointed with the length of the film. All they need is to make Netflix animated series because it is fit content when making TV show adaptations. I'm autistic and I love Metal Gear Franchise. This is one of my favorites all the time. I think we should send messages to Hollywood to tell them film adaptation isn't going to work well compared to The Last of Us TV shows on HBO. They need to change their courses or not make adaptation at all. We want good faithful in this adaptation, not awful like the Super Mario Bros 1993 film.

I think the stall in development is more of a blessing in disguise and even though Konami technically own the gaming franchise we’re not sure how that translates to the licensing of the movie/show creation. If the studio has a full license and Konami already got paid, it could mean they don’t have any real say-so on the creation and could legally hire Hideo for the project. Even Kojima said he’s afraid the movie would not add to the lore of MGS, but a tv series would definitely allow for more of the lore to fold out. An animated series would be cool and cost effective but a live version is something I’d want to really see myself.

@@redomagnus4762 6 episodes equates to about 4.5 to 5 hours of story telling. Honestly that doesn’t sound like a bad idea with Portable Ops and Peace Walker getting their own movies. Usong those movies as flashbacks for MGS 5. Not a bad idea actually n

No fuck it i dont think they will be creative enough to play or effect your emotions like hideo does in this series like phantom payne how your never really are shure who you are in the story, or hideo making you kill all your infected men who are prepared to die fighting for diamond dogs, executing all of them, they die seeing their leader not extending the same curtsey.

The blueprint is set. Hideo has left all he can for anyone to adapt this to a TV series. His ideas will forever be cherished in the games. I actually believe Hollywood will be creative enough to be able to pull that off, my friend, though we know who the true architect of this emotional rollercoaster is.

@@emansworldofgeek I agree there's alot of cannon but to try and arc a story into a movie or TV series will be challenging. Resident evil had some success with films early on so maybe and silent hill was excepted as a movie or taken seriously. 🤞 hope you're right I'm too pessimistic about franchises on film Spawn movie let me down big time as a kid remember thinking they never get a character right except batman and spawn animated series.
