Cancel culture is nothing more than mob rule. Its not even democratic on its best day. Time and time again we’ve been shown how internet algorithms work to show people outrageous things. And cancel culture is the direct outcome of such algorithms. Its outrage politics. And outrage will only polarize issues and never bring us to a common ground. Although I agree with Stacy, I’m glad Tal was successful in convincing some people because that’s what debates should be about. About finding common ground. Great work guys!
@ThatKJGuy2 жыл бұрын
Stacy had some fantastic points. I’m not sure how Tal won, because even he said it is a “necessary evil”, which essentially admits it is evil. If it has a modicum of evil, then why would we want it? If cancel culture is a good thing, then it shouldn’t be considered evil at all. Stacy should have won.

Activism is still the only way you can make lasting change. You need people in real life willing to show up and protest. Anybody can hide behind social media create multiple fake likes and cancel stuff. There should be a conversation and complete information exchange on all sides to effectively uphold a decision "cancel or not". While I agree with the good results of cancel culture, this won't last. Activism has stood the test of times and will always triumph. Inquilab Zindabad.

Nas, I think that the winning system should be changed. Whoever convinced the bigger percentage of the other side more should win. For example if Stacy convinced 50% of the Cancel side, but Tal convinced 30% of the anti side, Stacy should win. The person with the lowest percentage in the beginning automatically gets an advantage because all they have to do is convince 1 person from the other side, and keep the percentage they already have, which is a little bit unfair in my opinion. To be honest, I believe that Cancel Culture has been a great problem in today's decade, because the right of deciding if someone deserves justice or reward or if someone need to be punished depends solely upon the number of people that support one view and not the true meaning of the entire debate. I mean suppose, if a country has 1 person who is extremely and unimaginably wealthy while all the others,I mean every single one is below the poverty line, then the country would obviously have a mean value,talking in terms of per capita,or income way more and huge economy which may not even be considered based upon the people at poverty. Cancel Culture's trend is exactly same, i.e. Quantity over Quality, and this is not ok, as it means that you're toying and moulding others life, in making them and others believe that the bad opinion (you may have) is correct and if they don't appeal to it, They are straight up CANCELLED!

Cancel culture is the reason why i ended up in the psych ward so no cancel culture isn't the best thing ever you psychopath. It's all fun and games till it happens you. Things you say 2,3,4,5 6 years ago. Jokes. Come back to haunt you ? That;s not right. People twist, and lie, and deem things 'offensive' yet engage in the most offensive and abusive behavior imaginable towards people. People are people. Johnny, Amber, who ever else. They're still a person. We can't forget that. Not everyone targeted is guilty and not everyone 'guilty' is a harvey winestine

Its our right to speak against culprits as we all are live in this world and are humans. If someone is wrong they need to be punished until they are punished they won't realise their mistake seeing this will not only give support to the right people but will also threaten the wrong ones
@kartikeypandey89572 жыл бұрын
But who will decide the punishment the outraged and offended people or some regulatory authority. Nobody is against someone speaking and also the wrong getting punished but it should be handled by the concerned authorities. For eg: Jhonny Depp was literally ruined by the media. Even if he was guilty (which he was ofcourse not) it should have been taken care by Judiciary. Not by declaring him a wife beater on social and ruining his life.
