Strikes are similar to seatbelts, airbags, etc.. The idea is to keep you safe and alive. The difference is the legality. At the same time, do they need to put in all that thermal management when charging? Why not just make the car charge faster and let the battery catch fire once in a while? It is your reputation, and the company reputation. Until it is fully FSD, not betta, supervised, ... They still have a say. They are still your mother at this time.

IMO, since driver supervision is critical to safety Tesla needs to monitor, and provide consequences for "inattentive" drivers. Counting on law enforcement to enforce this will not be effective. It would be nice if Tesla had more physical controls that did not require looking at the touchscreen. However, the only strikes I have had were when trying to re-route navigation while driving. Using the physical "one wipe" button to bring up wiper control mini-screen helps me to minimize time with eyes off road. Wipers might be the only control I need while driving; I can't think of any others. Tesla's old system, where you lose FSD for months or years until they do a general reset of strikes for everyone is certainly not fair for FSD owners. The new system where you lose FSD for only one week after 5 strikes, and one strike is removed for every week of driving without a strike, should still be effective and a lot more fair for FSD owners, IMO.
