Somaliland is a region of Somalia. I can’t fully watch this video. Please take it down. You need someone to teach you practical lessons. You’re talking about something that doesn’t concern you. This is our issue, and it’s up to us to handle it. Let’s talk about dividing the American states into separate countries-how would you feel about that? Stop trying to gain views by discussing sensitive topics. There are better topics to talk about.

@@oneOonethreeeight Dividing a country is not a simple debate topic; it’s a highly sensitive and complex issue that directly impacts people’s lives. If you think this is just an academic exercise, then imagine how Americans would feel if the topic were about dividing the United States into separate countries. Would it still feel like a harmless debate? It’s important to approach such topics with respect and sensitivity, especially when discussing regions or issues that involve the identity, sovereignty, and struggles of real people. There are plenty of other meaningful debate topics that don’t risk trivializing sensitive matters.

@@Moe-v2j You gotta go back to 1967 to know what I’m talking about. When the Western countries were giving “independence” to African countries the french, english and Italians promised to release our lands so that greater Somalia can reunify. Ofcourse the French only decolonize in name so they asked the people of what was called french Somaliland at the time (Djibouti) and ultimatum, get independence and reunify with the rest of Somalia or become a new country under the control of france. The French knew what the somalis would vote for So on election day they asked the minority Anfar group to to come and vote at 8am as a whole and closed the voting stations by 9am and declared that the people voted for the latter. So a new country was formed out of French Somaliland called Djibouti because the West and specifically france wanted to keep control of yhe red sea. And to ensure that the people would never rise up and kicked them out, they invited the whole of the western countries to have their own military bases as well as some asian countries. Today if you go to Djibouti the residents will tell you they constantly feel like their in s military state and or a refugee camp because of the amount of multinational military camps, condtant gunfire and military aircrafts they see and hear.

You spent a lot of time on Al-Shabaab. Generally, the very weak government in Mogadishu did a number on them, effectively putting them in a small territory in Somalia, in addition, do you think that if they are effective, they would have created chaos in Somaliland (They did a terrorist operation in Hargeisa once, and were dealt with for them not to show up in Somaliland), so this lecture is given them a lot of weight, in my opinion.

Great video 👏 I like to point out the following: There are few important pieces of information missing in the Somaliland section: 1- The union with Somalia didn’t go through legally. 2- The first act of union wasn’t ratified. 3- The referendum on the last act of union was rejected by Somalilanders. 4- There was a coup following the attempted union. 5- This was later followed by the Isaaq genocide. 6- According to Somalilanders, this isn’t a case of secession or breaking away (terms we find offensive). Instead, we see it as a case of state continuity-similar to the Baltic states and their "separation" from the Soviet Union, where the union was also considered illegal. Don't just take my words for it, there are references on this topic such as the african union fact-finding mission 2005 and research done by Joshua Meservey from the Hudson Institute This takes care 90 of the risks mentioned

The Somali government exists only at Mogadishu’s airport, propped up by corrupt UN policies and billions of dollars in U.S. taxpayer funds that benefit elites rather than the people. Meanwhile, Somaliland has proven itself as a stable, self-governing democracy that secures its territory and ensures peace. Recognizing Somaliland is in everyone’s interest-especially for securing the Red Sea, a critical trade route. A functional, legitimate partner like Somaliland would bring stability and prosperity where Mogadishu’s failed regime cannot.

The debate surrounding the separatist agenda of Somaliland is misguided and unproductive. Ongoing conflicts, such as the clashes in Ceerigaabo/Erigavo, highlight resistance from other communities against the secessionist ideology of the Isaaq-led Somaliland militia. The events in Laascaanood last year further demonstrate the fractured nature of this separatist project. Historically, the former British Somaliland territory was never a homogenous entity. It comprised diverse clans such as the Harti, Samaroon, and Ciise, each of whom opposes the separatist agenda and has taken steps to reclaim their regions from the Isaaq-dominated movement. The Isaaq clan, concentrated in parts of Waqooyi Galbeed, has been accused of creating instability by fostering tribal divisions and chaos in the region. Allegations of Somaliland’s collaboration with extremist groups like Al-Shabaab in Sanaag, the largest region of the former British Somaliland, underscore the security risks posed by this agenda. These actions threaten not only Somalia’s unity but also the stability of the broader region. Kindly stop this misleading, misinformation and propoganda projects you got it from the Somaliland regime..

The African Union fact finding mission in 2005 stated that "union between Somaliland and somalia was never ratified" and also malfunctioned when it went into action from 1960 to 1990, makes Somaliland's search for recognition historically unique and self-justified in African political history. Somalia's argument is weak. Somaliland receiving full recognition will not impact somalia because somalia's government can't control any areas outside it's capital. Somaliland has been de facto independence for decades and somalia does not receive taxation money collected plus somaliland does not contribute in somalia's armed forces. Al shabab was present before the MOU. Somalia's government and elite in mogadishu fear that recognised somaliland will be the confirmation of their failure because somalia has lied to the international community consistently to receive more aid with hardly any stable government. The more somalia has become unstable the more money the international community through at it. Elites in mogadishu and some individuals from AU UN and other agencies benefit from this choas in somalia financially. That is the reality and sadly somaliland has suffered because of this. Even though somaliland is a safe country, it is still technically under somalia and tourists and international investors are warned under tge umbrella somalia. No access to world bank and IMF is another obstacle. Good news is the world is changing due to geopolitics and the eyes of the international community are on somaliland. UAE and UK has invested hundreds of millions in the strategic port of berbera and berbera airport plus 110 million USD on a new road berbera corridor connecting landlocked Ethiopia. Many international companies signed up to berbera free economic zone so things are beginning to change. Politically the u.s congress has passed the bill somaliland partnership act. These kind of investment cannot be implemented in somalia due to security reasons. Many countries are lining up to engagement with somaliland and dash aside this "one somalia policy" nonsense

I am very impressed at depth of research you made. SSC Khatumo is always omitted in this discussion. Somaliland is essentially just one tribe who want be recognised as nation. When they refer to stability of somaliland, it really just reflects 2-3 cities that was able to self govern (hargeysa, Barbara und maybe Burco). Other city where the Isaaq tribe do not live have been completely ignored or even punished for daring to trade or do business with Somalia.

You're completely wrong by the way. There are 8 different tribes that reside here and just cause 1 is acting up and call themselves SSC don't mean anything 1 is less than 8 so they can cry me river all they want but they will come back begging for mercy like they did in 2007 so nothing new here but a temper tantrum by SSC. All the land they claim is not even their's other tribes reside with them and it's not solely their's so what is there to talk about at the end of the day. Mr. Study

While I agree that SSC is not mentioned as much the information given is misleading. Most of Somaliland is still under control and more cities are safe. With the SSC also SSB gets left out of the story.

@@maxamedmaxamudmusa9759 8 tribes 😂😂😂 my friend can you list them out please. Also to call this a “tantrum” is ironic because the same argument you used literally can be used to dismiss the existence of Somaliland. It’s just a “1 tribe that acting up call themselves Somaliland, it doesn’t mean anything” In international law, sovereign states must have a permanent population, a defined territory, a single administration. Somaliland by definition does not meet any of those conditions, it does not control Sool and Sanaag, have may undisputed territories. And let’s not start with Awdal state which pretty much governs itself.
