Absolutely, we need to make a bold move for a WR. We currently have the worst WR room in the AFC South. Our WR corps doesn’t scare anyone. We have a good slot receiver and that’s it. Gabe Davis is a waste of cap money. I’ve talked to a few Bills fans and they were glad to be rid of him. He’s “just a guy” and so is Zay Jones. Every team in the division is two deep at WR, except us. Every team in the division has a #1 WR, except us. This team lacks firepower on offense. People expect Trevor Lawrence to be great, but we have failed to provide him with adequate weapons or protection so far. We made some good moves in free agency on the defensive side of the football, but the offensive line is pretty much status quo, with the exception of Mitch Morse. The WR group got worse, losing Ridley and replacing him with Davis. I am all in on trading up in the draft to get an elite WR, no matter what the cost. As far as Devontez Walker, I hate that guy. All Senior Bowl week, he dropped EVERYTHING. They even lofted up some easy throws for him to catch in order to boost his confidence and he dropped those too. He couldn’t catch a cold. I wouldn’t even consider him. I still want BTJ, if we don’t trade up. If he is gone, there is only 2 other WR’s I consider for immediate starter roles and that is Xavier Leggette or Javon Baker. To me, I don’t even care about the X, Z or Y positions. As far as I’m concerned, I don’t care what we are paying Gabe Davis. He is a non-factor who should have never been signed. If we find a WR that has the same role as Davis, he can move to the bench or be traded and I’d eat the dead cap.

9:20 That's a great point. What we've seen from the draft is that a good player in a great fit (like Dell or Nacua) looks loads better than a really good player in a bad fit. The Jags drafting the best slot receiver in the draft and then trying to force fit him into an outsider receiver role would be disasterous.

No one would do that. It’s a lopsided trade. The washing machine is too valuable.

I would love to get MHJ but seems unlikely. Nabers I think would fit best no doubt so would be worth the trade up. For some reason I dont see Odunze in our system but wouldnt hurt. Still think what might be best is stay and grab BTJ or move back a bit for AD Mitchell and move up to grab Kool-aid. Then best available OL (preferably) or DL in the 3rd (if we manage to keep one). Wouldnt hate it if we did get a kicker later on.

Non-rant comment: they’ve already met with Tez Walker twice. And Baalke LOVES a bargain. I’d like to push in our chips now, but these big moves made by Houston recently are for short-term success. Diggs and Hunter are reliant on speed and thus will likely drop off in the second year of their deals. So maybe you get Tex, build the defense, and go after Higgins or Jefferson next year.

I wouldn't hate it if we can make it work with the rest of the cap wrangling we need to do over the next few years.

This is the question that they need to ask does that team that they are fielding today? Have a chance at a Super Bowl, the answer is no if they trade the first round pick for Brandon Ayuk or T Higgins, does that at least give the team a shot? Unequivocally yes while the cornerback they are predicted to pick is good. He is not a player that will take them to the Super Bowl while cornerbacks are important this is hardly a shallow cornerback draft. You need a star wide receiver not a bunch of number twos you need a number one either trade up and pick a star or trade pick away for a proven player.

i remember arguing with a jags fan about the outrageous overpay for christian kirk, i tried to tell him Kirk is a WR2 (maybe even one of the best WR2s in the league) that overpay was one of the many reasons the cardinals couldnt retain their early 2021 form in 2022. But i guess i can thank the jags organization now because we are in prime position to get Marvin Harrison JR, best WR prospect since julio jones, maybe even farther back to calvin johnson.

That worked out really well for both teams then because he’s been a fantastic WR here and obviously you guys are about to get one of the great ones if you don’t move back. You guys have a bright future over there even if the league doesn’t know it yet, loved your draft last year!

Basically, you need to get lucky like KC. Draft a generational qb outside of the top 10, draft a generational te in the fifth, draft a low-character receiver that beats women, land a hof head coach, land a hof defensive coordinator that has no interest in being a head coach, draft a generational DT outside of the first round that’ll take less money to stay with the team, then draft the majority of your defense in a single draft and hit every seiection. Easy.

Trevor has to take the next step. But since the jags trust that he will I think getting a guy like Brock Bowers would be much better. Trevor is most accurate as an intermediate thrower and he would have two safety checkdown tightends when things go wrong. As for free agency, if its not a real good deal i wouldnt do it. This draft class is STACKED with WR talent in the first 3 rounds.

since it looks like JA41 is not gonna be signed, trade josh allen for a 1st and a 2nd round. 2 1st rounders draft brian thomas jr and chop robinson, then 2 2nd round picks, draft xavier worthy and best available cornerback

@mr.dolphin8345
@mr.dolphin8345 Ай бұрын
@@cardiacatsbrand yes. And more importantly trade up and get one of MHJ, Nabers, or Odunze, which is what I really want to happen. Let’s put it this way: the Bills are way more desperate for one of them than we are.
@cardiacatsbrand
@cardiacatsbrand Ай бұрын
I think both the Jaguars and Bills are desperate for a WR1, and even if the Bills outweight them on that scale, it can't be denied that the value of their picks is significantly less than ours. For example, the 28th pick is worth less than 70% of the 17th pick, so they're gonna have to trade significantly more to match us. I also think the Bills are just better off getting Mitchell or Thomas since they need an x-receiver.
@mr.dolphin8345
@mr.dolphin8345 Ай бұрын
@@cardiacatsbrand that’s a good point. I think they’d be really happy with Mitchell or BTJ. I really hope you’re right. Nothing would make me happier than trading up for Nabers, MHJ, and Odunze.
@cardiacatsbrand
@cardiacatsbrand Ай бұрын
It would be really exciting, and I don't care as much about the extra picks(aside from future firsts) because unfortunately they don't do much with them. You'd be giving up picks like Brenton Strange, Jay Tufele, and Chad Muma to go get an elite receiver.

What about Adonai Mitchell?
@cardiacatsbrand
@cardiacatsbrand Ай бұрын
I like Mitchell, but he's gonna be another x-receiver and I'm not sure he's the best player on the board at any point before he goes. What I mean by that is there will be players I have ranked higher than probably get picked after or when he does. That's why I threw out Walker as another option since he's gonna be cheaper than expected because of a bad Senior Bowl week.
@jayshupp5971
@jayshupp5971 Ай бұрын
@@cardiacatsbrand Walker is just gonna be a very hard sell for Jaguars' fans. Yes, he had a good season, but the entire Senior Bowl week, he was awful. It wasn't just a day or two either. It was all week. They were even tossing him easy throws to get his confidence up and he dropped those too. He knew the scouts were watching and this was the biggest week of his life and he folded like a house of cards. That was one of the worst performances I had ever seen during an All-Star game week. He lost his confidence and once that happens to a young prospect, it's hard to get it back. I want someone mentally tough, who steps up when the pressure is on. That's just not Walker. He reminds me too much of George Pickens. He has the raw talent, but mentally, he's just not there. I don't deal with headcases.
