Resounding yes, what he has done for the game moulding and influencing young men in a very positive way. His name and legacy will be remembered more so than some immortals already.

Yes, he's been one of the most influential coaches of rugby league in its history. To Coach winning teams across all levels of the game including tests is second to none.
@Giveme1goodreason Жыл бұрын
Yes. Obviously. Him and jack Gibson. I’d argue everyone in the team of the century should immortal. They’ve already been declared the best in their position for an entire century. Jack Gibson and Wayne Bennett should be immortals too. I can’t think what more he would have to do.

Yes two decades ago. His stint at the 90s broncos the best any coach ever and he’s had a mountain of other achievements across all rep formats too
@clutch7548 Жыл бұрын
The 90s doesnt seal it, those teams were stacked to the brim of international level talent Getting the most out of underdog teams and players, thats his greatest legacy i think. He gets players to perform at their best.
@Giveme1goodreason Жыл бұрын
@@clutch7548 those teams were built by Wayne and became stars under Wayne. Don’t pretend it was handed to him. Those players all became stars under Wayne.
@MERCURYSUNSET Жыл бұрын
@@Giveme1goodreason Yep they were star studded teams rippling with Origin players and by 1990 they had 13 internationals at the Broncos .Bennett had a mountain of talent to work with from day 1 when the the Broncos hoovered up the best of the best from the Brisbane comp with a few Sydney siders in the club too. A capital city of 1.3 million people at the time with 1 club and a tonne of talent to burn , yeah Wayne Bennett had blokes who were already stars in their own right in the first place .
@avrahamgoyenstein5117 Жыл бұрын
Yup. Uninformed, sub par evaluators of the game will tell you that Bennett is over rated because of the star power in those 90s teams, however those in the know understand that those same players, in most cases, wouldn't have been stars if they weren't playing for Wayne.
@MERCURYSUNSET Жыл бұрын
@@avrahamgoyenstein5117 Sub par evaluators ? According to whose metric- yours ? 😂 Well constructed observation , mostly fluff of course , masquerading as coming from a higher level of Rugby League awareness. Those in "the know " understand the difference between reading simple facts, as opposed to finding some kind of backhanded criticism .

I grew up playing rugby league for Redcliffe Dolphins-great club. Dolphins kill sharks, but are killed by Orcas (which are not whales, but ironically a member of the dolphin family). A new N.R.L. club called The Orcas??

Oh yes that horrible time he took them within 1 game of the grand final, and the following year had the season smashed to pieces by garbage ownership and a player breaking his neck. All so very clearly Wayne’s fault. So much so that all the players still sing his praises.
