Here in Italy where I'm living under lock down, cycling is permitted for exercise but most sites and even GCN Italy have said it would be irresponsible to go out because as you point out, beds are required for dealing with the virus and there is always a risk of an accident with cycling. I still go out running, and have ordered a smart trainer. They are hard to come by at the moment. Most sites are sold out.

Cycling 4-5 times a week ( alone) is what keeps me sane right now. Don’t want to watch my retirement investments go down the drain😢. Lol. Besides, keeping in shape will help me fight off this crap, if I get it. I’m 66 and supposedly in that category of people who are gonna die if we get it...yeah right! I’m gonna fight on, and bike on! 🚴♂️. Omg...after sending this I keep getting messages from those poor souls that have given up, or don’t know what it is to fight something...seen or unseen, to the end. If some of you have given up..I’m sorry. For you that have raced, or served in the military...fight on until the end. For those of you that are on your couch..please disregard my comments. I will ride on..I do understand that 85% of the people who get this virus are asymptomatic...never know they had it, but pass it on to others that have problems or worse. If you’ve given up...don’t. The great majority of us will survive. It will end...we will see bike races again. It is NOT the end. Wow. 😊

@@jamesb.2064 It's a virus you stubborn fool, not a fistfight. It does not care if you keep a stiff lip. This virus is not the flu/regular viral infection, it is MUCH worse. People much younger than you in much better shape are dying and having their lungs permanently damaged by this in countries MUCH better prepared than yours is. Good luck.

OrangeCrusader Oh my god. In this country, we call people like you liberals or socialist. "Please come rescue me..I don’t know what to do". Lol. If that is your fate...so be it. You’re right, I can’t see or touch it, but I can do the best I can to make myself one hell of a target against it. I refuse to die without a fight. Idea for video - Cycling Collectibles, so mostly about people collecting team water-bottles and having hundreds of them. They are able to tell you what year given water-bottle is coming from or in some cases even from what race. And they know all pro-cycling teams in last 20 years in all divisions and countries (and their bottles)! ;) My brother is like that - pretty impressive (even if maybe useless) knowledge, but I think interesting topic itself. How they follow all races they can - not only watching them but following peloton to gather all bottles they can find on the side of the road. Then exchanging extra copies with people from around the world and things like that. Plus obviously other collectibles like team kits and so on. But I think water-bottles are most common.

I agree with the information in this video regarding group rides. I think cyclist should consider riding solo for the foreseeable future. Much safer until a vaccine comes out for the COVID-19. I was on a solo ride this morning here in Texas when I saw a group slowly approaching from behind. I slowed so they could pass and get away from me. They were back slapping each other completely oblivious to the possible health ramifications. I was concerned about them slinging sweat or something on me as they passed. It also irritated me because I felt they passed a little too close to my left. I am older cyclist and this virus could easily take me out. Great GCN video.

My chainring is 46 teeth, and road wheels run 11-34 so I get the closer gearing, and my gravel wheels are 11-42. Since I live in Chicago (possibly the flattest place I’m earth), I don’t need two chainrings for riding in the Midwest U.S.... so thank you for that tip! Video idea: how to organise a race. We are a club of a dozen active cyclists and another one or two dozen of less active members, and would like to give back to the local community by making an event. What's the easiest, cheapest way to make a race happen? I seem to remember from one of Ollie's pre-GCN videos that weekday evening time trials are a thing in the UK and consist essentially of two people with fold-up desks, protocol sheets and stopwatches.
