Good point about KZbin being a place to find community amidst isolation. Personally, I still want to see everyone's normal content. I expect that luxury unboxing videos will become more scarce in general but from you I hope to see content on jewelry, downsizing, whether the marimo moss balls survived the move, and the tour of your old house if you're still planning to do that. It's such a timely question you're asking here. I was just scrolling through Facebook and there was a post in one of the luxury groups from someone asking if anyone would be using their stimulus checks for luxury. OMG, people jumped down her throat! Some understood that she meant it in a lighthearted and inquisitive way but most comments were quite mean and judgmental. I don't think your audience would react that way to you continuing with your regularly scheduled videos, though.
@pinkandpink45774 жыл бұрын
That's awful about the lady on FB! People just can't stop being mean! I had wondered if the stimulus checks were going to open a whole new can of worms...I guess so. Ugh. But yes! We want to know how the moss balls are doing! I bought some based on her video about them. Mine are starting to grow long strands so I guess I need to re-watch her video :)
@JillMaurer4 жыл бұрын
There are some very differing opinions here Autumn but yours seems to strike the middle ground of what most people are feeling. Keep doing what we are doing to provide a sense of normalcy. There will be some obvious changes, like fewer unboxings, because our lives have changed along with everyone else's. Ugh people are so on edge. It isn't good that they jumped on the FB woman. After all they were scrolling on a luxury group so they must be focusing on it at some level. xoxo

Wow I'm sorry about the person who got such a harsh reception over her comment but the stimulus is for the person to decide how to spend it, as far as content please post it...people need it now more than ever we get online and turn on videos for entertainment and in some cases education I hope you both keep posting content I really enjoy it.

I still can’t wrap my head around the enormity of this virus. As a paramedic working the front lines, it has caused a great amount of stress, to say the least. I’m staying away from my parents, who are elderly. I talk to them daily and I shop for them so they don’t have to leave the house, leaving their items on their doorstep and waving to them from afar. My worse fear is bringing this home to my family. KZbin is an escape for me. I enjoy watching luxury videos, but at this time in the world, I find some of them irritating. Too blasé and carefree. I appreciate you and your videos, taking the time to address our current situation. A capsule wardrobe video, how to refresh some items in our closets, would be great. Love your jewelry videos as well. Maybe a video on tips for buying preloved handbags? My obsession is handbags and I’m not ashamed to say it. Praying for health and protection for us all. ❤️

Thank you for being on the front lines Heather. I can't imagine the stress you are feeling right now. It's wonderful that you are also helping your family and keeping your distance. I also understand your perspective on the attitudes of some KZbinrs seeming to be out of touch. It may be that they are deeply affected by this outbreak and are masking it. It can be hard to tell. That is the struggle. The balance between providing the diversion that some people seek without appearing callus. It's easy to get it wrong. I love your ideas for future videos! Thank you!! xoxo

Your move to the condo came at just the right time. Whew! Now you can go through your life’s collection of things & sort away. (My advice: be ruthless & see things for what they are). One drawing made by a child is worth keeping......not 10 years of drawings. As for videos, just knowing you are there makes all the difference. Cook something for us; organize a drawer with us; - we’re not fussy! XXOO

Oh my goodness! Yours is the third comment I know I responded to earlier and isn't showing up. I wonder what is going on!! My move did come just in time, and you are so right about being ruthless. I had a talk with my son about whether he would ever want any of his childhood drawings and photos and how he felt about me keeping the best and letting the rest go. He agreed that is the right thing to do. I'm just going to have to take a deep breath and do it! Thank you so much for being here Ann!! xoxo

I think it's nice for KZbinrs to carry on as usual. Here's my take on the situation...there are always terrible things going on in the world at any given moment. I personally know someone in dispatch and the stories of freak accidents, suicides, homicides, attacks on women and children, down to completely dysfunctional households grossly outweigh the death toll from covid. That said, I do recognize the difference as this pandemic is affecting all of us at once and the quarantine situation is taking a toll on those who live a more extroverted lifestyle. I've noticed a shift in the content of a few IGers I follow. At first they were gung ho over the isolation but I can see in the last day or two that it's actually hitting them. My two teens are beginning to feel crummy as well even though we're all homebodies. I suppose my point is this...if we truly looked around at what is going on in the "unseen" parts of the world (in the neighbor's backyard) the part that our first responders, officers, deputies, ER personnel live in....no one would be making luxury videos. I hope this comment isn't too much of a downer, just my probably unpopular opinion. As far as what I would like to see, I'd love to know the stories behind everything beautiful in your home such as the pieces in the background. I get the idea that you carefully curate most things in your home as I do to an extent. Some things mean more than others. I love hearing the stories of how certain pieces are obtained, same as luxury handbags! I say keep moving forward! OOOO! Just saw that Autumn just posted a video! Let's go watch!!!! PS, I enjoy the relationships I see between fellow KZbinrs! It's so refreshing! I remember back in the early YT days, it was more of a dog eat dog situation, lol!

I definitely understand your perspective Mandi. There are always people suffering. This does feel different because we are all focused on the same thing. I think it's also concern for how bad this could get and doing our part to make sure that doesn't happen. I do take your point about not letting this paralyze us and continuing on where we can. So far I have been comfortable staying at home, but I do understand how even introverted teenagers could start getting antsy. They have so much more energy than we have! I'll definitely try to talk more about the things in my home and show the progress that I am making. Now off to see Autumn's video!! xoxo

I am putting more money into my savings. I’d rather use my money to donate more to charities or people I know in need, and taking care of my family. I am asking this question myself. I have 2 luxury videos that I filmed in January that I haven't posted. However, I feel a bit hypocritical because I actively seek out luxury and fashion content as both a mood booster and a distraction. I have many other avenues to stay informed esp given the nature of my job so the last thing that I want from my favorite YTers is pandemic related content. I don't click on anything with the "C word" in the title. However, I do also enjoy hearing how people are spending their time, hobbies, cooking, organization etc.

Hmmm. Yours is another message that I know I responded to before. I'm not sure what is happening! I'd suggest rewatching your videos through the lens of our recent situation and see how they hold up. I also like to see what is really going on in people's lives but do shy away from some of the titles. xoxo

Hey Jill glad to see you are safe and well ! I am still watching luxury videos here and there , working in health care daily and witnessing what I am witnessing almost seems surreal , I wake up daily (when I can sleep) praying that it was all just a nightmare . While I did make a purchase a few weeks ago from FASHIONPHILE , I am still working , so is my son (who is also in health care , although much closer to what’s going on ) my purchase is now stuck there and I honestly haven’t seemed to care much , because I am worried about my family , my friends who have lost their jobs , don’t know how they are going to pay their rents , buy food , some were living pay check to pay check with no savings , just about making ends meet , so for me I won’t put up any posts of luxury items right now on any of my social media platforms , it just doesn’t feel right . I have been watching a lot more DIY videos , such as , “How to dip powder your own nails” , since I can’t go to the nail salon and love having my nails looking nice , I have been looking at alternative ways to do my own nails right now , I have watched a few luxury videos but I have to be honest I am not feeling the same way watching them as I did before , it’s like luxury is truly unimportant to me right now . I just want the world back the way it was before this epidemic hit us so hard . I am praying more than ever before , for friends And loved ones , I truly don’t think I have an answer for this question at the moment. I have no desire to watch “My $40,000 Handbag collection” type of videos if that makes sense , but then I can use the mental break from reality right now too... so I am back and fourth with it right now ! Good to see you , please stay well my friend xoxo 😘😘😘

Oh Lisa I have been thinking about you there on the front lines. I can't imagine how difficult this must be for you! The financial strain is going to affect a lot of people, and my heart goes out to them. I have gel nails and ordered everything I need to take them off and start doing my own manicures. I'm opting to go natural and just paint them. We'll see how that goes. I'm trying to tell myself that my nails probably needed the break anyway. I'll definitely be watching a few videos. I'm also going to be watching videos on how to cut Mitchell's hair. I noticed that Fashionphile isn't shipping. I'm putting together things to sell so I'm going to send them to The RealReal without even getting a quote from Fashionphile. TRR is operating but in a somewhat diminished capacity. I'm looking forward to the day we get back to normal or whatever our new normal is going to be. I'm just not holding my breath. I'd rather think it's going to take longer and be pleasantly surprised when things get better. xoxo

Jill I now live with my daughter, her hubby & 5 grandchildren. It’s been a blessing especially during this difficult time. Even my son is happy I’m here and they are not worried of me being alone. The purchasing people are doing is mainly online. I have direct knowledge since my daughter works for a luxury clothing line. I see my grands go I to their bedrooms and attend their schooling and do their studies. My son in law is now working from home. I hear him so I stay in my bedroom and he teases me each morning if I have logged in to my studies. I say yes Dad and get what I need and come back upstairs. Two of the younger girls put their school shirts on when it was time for their studies. That was super cute. It gets loud at lunch at loud when school ends. I’m glad they all follow a schedule and know when it’s school time and study time.

Hi Jill! Honestly, this is a wonderful question and I'm glad you're asking it! Personally, NO, I don't think it's a great time for people to be doing luxury hauls and talking about luxury handbags and other items when there are so many people suffering, dying, losing their jobs, etc etc etc. In my opinion, it's in poor taste. We all know there's nothing wrong with luxury or enjoying those things but at a time like this -- there's never been a better time to get our priorities straight! I would love to see videos from you talking about how you are coping with this situation, living a simpler life, like you said -- basically just anything human lol. There has never been a time like this in our history and it's changed everything. So yeah, when all this calms down and gets under control then I think it's time to start talking about luxury again. Until then, let's focus on what's really important. Just my opinion and thank you for asking! Take care and keep washing your hands lol.

Thank you Thalia! I'm with you on the huge luxury hauls. I'm not sure what is going on with those. Would they really buy all that stuff if they weren't making KZbin videos? Can anyone really appreciate that much stuff? Having to store and maintain it all would make me nervous! xoxo

I share the feelings of some of the people commenting below. I like the "normalcy" that these type of conversation brings to us but I can't watch any luxury hauls anymore, actually I've been deleting many of them. Reviewing an item, comparing etc as a conversation is fine for me but nothing more. The topic of downsizing interests a lot of us I think this is the perfect time to do this. Jill I enjoy your videos a lot and yes this is a very particular time in history I think that I can say that. You know here in Montréal lots of people are living in fear, the days have a feeling of lack of trust. I hope I don't get slap for saying this, but that's how I see it the few times that I do go out for something quick. For me this time is a blessing in disguise, I was very tired from work and I had been asking God a time to rest, other than vacation time, when I usually travel abroad to see the world out there and experience different things which make me soo rich and grateful of the life I have. I appreciate KZbin very much, always. But mostly now because it's like a secret garden of joy, is like a good friend full of stories and things to show and tell, it keeps me normal and encourage to go forward in life in spite of anything. This too shall pass, of course in time. Jill I enjoy KZbin a lot I already said it, I have lots of different interest, so I hardly get bored, but what about if you made a video about interesting things that you have learn through experience or if possible, about other people that you know and have made an impact in your life, how and why, that could be you (talking about yourself) or anybody else, this is just an idea. You seem to be very well educated and very down to earth it must come from somewhere, you can also do a tag about a subject. Big hug and big thanks for being so thoughfull!

Thank you so much Maria! That was such a beautiful way to describe KZbin!! I'm glad that you are getting the rest you need and that you are able to be grateful about it in the moment. That is a blessing. Thank you for the video idea!! xoxo

Hi Jill, well done on your well articulated and sensitive delivery, I’d love to know how and why you started you tube and tips for beginners, I’m thinking of starting a channel myself, have been for a while, I’m single too, divorced actually and I find great community in KZbin, I also love @Autumnbeckman 😘😘

I'm of the mindset that KZbin is a complete distraction right now. I'm not personally offended by talking about other things like luxury because KZbin is merely a way to pass the time. What are we going to do all day at home without KZbin?

Thank you Maria! I'm seeing it as a distraction too. It's a comfort seeing some of my favorite KZbinrs carry on. xoxo
