"Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not to be so. Does a spring send forth fresh water and bitter from the same opening? Can a fig tree, my brethren, bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Thus no spring yields both salt water and fresh." James 3:10-12 If the doctrine is bad, you can be assured the entertainment coming from the same well is bad too.

Regarding pastor’s comment about not having enough time to research every song your church sings, wouldn’t the leader of your music ministry do this? Assuming they’re a qualified elder, shouldn’t they be a leader trustworthy enough to vet every song your church sings? It doesn’t seem to me like that should overwhelm them.

listening again, i don't think his comment was about songs his church sings, but rather listening to every single Christian song out there today and discerning truth from error.

Our church plays rock songs with way to much base, they have pauses that make it hard to sing, if you look around my church nobody is singing. Many older folks have asked for hymns to sing and even they get changed. They say to us folks Who don’t like the music that the younger generations do. I guess us older folks are not part of the church.

Great question! Hillsong, Elevation, Bethel, etc... We all know who they are lol. I will definitely give your worship songs a listen. If we can combine both the passion of a good spiritual song with great truth real quick it would be awesome. How long is a song? 4 minutes and about 6-8 if you love singing the chorus over and over again? That's a good way to use real truth, real quick.. into a melody. Amen?

Maybe I’m missing something. Are we saying people who believe in the Pentecost should be cancelled. I’m not going to get excited. I’m sure I’m missing something. I have brothers who are Catholic, Baptist, Pentecostal, Lutheran, Methodist, and Charismatic. I think what we’re talking about is speaking in tongues. I’m not going to get in a debate but “tongues” hasn’t definitely been proven to have stopped. There’s room for debate. To marginalize other believers because they don’t believe like I do is not a sign of a mature believer. What did Apostle Paul say? 1 Corinthians 2:2 “For I determined not to know anything among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified.” My advice to you all is to love your brother. If you disagree, pray for him. We have to set the example for unity to the world and God knows they desperately need our example.

With all respect but being sincere is not enough to make it to God's kingdom. We have to make sure which Jesus we are worshipping. If a person truly wants to follow Jesus he or she will eventually come out of the Roman Catholic Church. How can we call them brothers when the very basis of the RCC is contrary to what God commands ?
@1917shooter4 жыл бұрын
Liz Cutajar I agree. The best way to show people the real Jesus is to build sincere relationships based on love and understanding.

@@1917shooter hi, I know this is 3yrs late, but I just found this channel. They're not just talking about differences in specific topics like speaking on tongues. More like certain churches that produce popular worship songs have gone off the deep end in theology (ie Bethel and grave soaking, the act in which you lay over a grave to soak up the departed's gift and "soak it up") or churches with leaders and worship composers that have come out with sex/money scandals or left the faith, etc. I think they did a good job covering the topic.

I love this and I totally agree. I also think that every single Christian is known to go wrong and therefore question everything. I have even been known not to say Amen to a prayer if I didn't agree with something in it at the time, falling silent then questioning my church leader appropriately in private so either I understood it, or they even showed humility about a mistake. That is what I see as respect and all being subject to God. I don't sing songs which use the name Jehovah instead of Hebrew Yahweh or Jesus and it makes me cringe as I am a linguist and I know many have been misled by that rendering of the divine name. God encourages our questions always.

If you're singing a worship song and it draws you closer to God and helps you worship Him then sing it. If this is what were picking at come on.. We're not gonna be standing there on judgment day and be talking about how we listened to the wrong worship music
@innovationhq82303 жыл бұрын
It's really simple just don't sing any song outside of God's inspired song book the book of Psalms. Exclusive Psalmody is such a great thing because then you don't have to waste any time checking if the song you are singing is biblical because they are all the perfect word of God.

In the title of this video it is implied that charismatic ministries are heretical, therefore we should have extra consideration for their expressions of worship. To segment off portions of the faithful like that is divisive and unhelpful. That doesn't match the content of this presentation. Todd lays out principles for examining all Christian worship, which are healthy and wise and devoid of division in the Church. If only the title matched the presentation.

So what you basically said in the start is that you don’t want a complicated song because you don’t want to have to teach the meaning behind it every time it’s sung?? I don’t see a problem with you explaining the meaning of things, if it means people get to understand and truly worship God without just saying lyrics
@mr.keokiliftee-kau78614 жыл бұрын
I agree with Daniel. Even the example given “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing.” You’re not going to sing it because of one word? You would only have to teach/explain its meaning a few times, not every time.

I agree with you. Also, this Pastor obviously doesn't know the full story behind the older beautiful hymns. Like the one he talked about "It is Well." He has the writer correct but not the story. Another thing about this Pastor is he uses the NIV Bible instead of the KJV. The NIV Bible removed several verses from the Bible and changed words and names. 🤷🏻♀️
@tabestorm53394 жыл бұрын
@@twinsof1965 In dutch we have the same Bibles that leave out those verses. It's a matter of choice, so it's obviously not very sure if they should be in there. I don't think they try to deceive us or anything.

You mentioned the old hymn writers who held heretical beliefs but we still sing some of their songs in corporate worship and I understand the point you’re trying to make, but those men don’t have existing ministries. How do you reconcile the fact that ministries like Bethel, Jesus Culture, Hillsong, and Elevation Church are current, prominent and extremely influential ministries they teach false doctrines and twist scripture to please itching ears? Their music is very popular and can easily be accessed online and linked back to their ministries. Wouldn’t it be better to just avoid them altogether for the sake of the body? As easy as it is to access their music, it’s just as easy to find and use music from artists like CityAlight, the Gettys, and Sovereign Grace Music who have theologically solid backgrounds. Why risk causing weaker believers to stumble because we want to indulge in music we like?
@Servant_of_Christ4 жыл бұрын
Turn the question around, why shouldn't we perform for them, why shouldn't we preach the whole word to them. Shouldn't Christian's go where the lost are? Instead of telling them what they are doing wrong, show them the right path. Mission: infiltrate, evangelise, gather souls.

I'm starting to wonder if Christians read the same bible? Aren't there different body parts that do different things? Don't you all believe in the salvation through Jesus? It seems these legalistic differences that create divisions are causing the house to be divided against itself. Yet again, another very confusing element in the Christian religion. :-()

You first said you should examine what we consume through the lens of God's word then you Said you don't have time to knmow about the songs your singing in your church.
@jlabate14 жыл бұрын
I belive you missed what he was saying. Listen to ALL of what he said. In context thebtwo were not related. He said "you should examine what you consume through the lense of God", as your listening to it or watching it. He means for you to use what you know of God to be conscious about what your ingesting at any given moment. In real time. The second part about him not having the time was in reference to him digging into the background of everything or "behind the scenes" of the music. He actually explained it very well and it's what the whole video was about. He gave several examples of songs that are great but whose writers lived less than Godly lives. In other words it's not important who wrote it as long as it follows the word of God. He was very clear in what he said.

Praying for you brother! Bill Johnson and Kris Valloten teach false doctrines. Bill has preached on stage and written in his books different gospels about who Jesus is. He says a gospel that doesn’t allow for everyone to always be healed is a false gospel. Look up Bethel and NAR, dominion theology, kenosis, and the seven mountain mandate.
