He's talented, no doubt. I find that high school sprinters rely on talent to achieve greatness, but as they move up to the next level, improvement requires not just hard work, a strong mind and determination, but also a dedicated team to support them. While his 20.04 and 10.03 are outstanding marks for a young sprinter to improve will require a lot of work over a long period of time. Knighton ran some remarkable times and was also hailed as the next Usain Bolt, and while he's great, he has not really approached Bolt's level, and I would say for now, that most likely the same thing will happen, at some point Gout, he will plateau.

If you run 20.04 at 16, you should be watched and someone should be interested in you fulfilling your potential. If that potential ends up being 19.7 and no further, so be it. But we should be excited by a 16 year old running 20.04 It comes across like because others have not done crazy things after being fast young, we shouldn’t be excited to see what the next young and fast person does… The only reason we shouldn’t call them the next Bolt for example is to not put pressure on them. The track world SHOULD be excited for every fast young athlete. Not being impressed because everyone else is, is not a flex. We lose nothing by being excited to see what these young athletes will do. Especially 20.04. Let’s gas it up and encourage the guy. We want to see him do great things. If he doesn’t.. we didn’t lose anything

The scary thing about Gout Gout is.....lets set his times aside because those are affected by location, altitude, wind etc. Look as his frame (calf, legs, height and potential to add to that frame) and also his running style and turnover (foot speed). Those things are eerily similar to Bolt. Now I'm not saying he's Bolt BUT.....he looks the part.

Rob seems to be missing the point on the Gout Gout excitement out of a sense of contrarianism. The reason Gout Gout is exciting is that he has a top speed that is elite, and his starts are likely to improve and his top speed is potentially going to be the highest we've ever seen, based on recent progress and current ability. 9.60 100m, Sub 19 200m, Sub 31 300m, Sub 43 400m are my predictions from him over the next 4 years.

A bit surprised y’all didn’t mention Gout’s mechanics and stride length. The Bolt comparison is silly, except for the fact that Gout does show much more promise from a technique standpoint compared to a lot of other recent youth athletes outside of Tebogo.
@pronatewithnateКүн бұрын
The Bolt thing makes sense. He’s being compared based on his times, not only setting records for his age but the 10m splits in the second half of his race are comparable (which is insane at any age let alone 16/17). It’s also based on his size, shapes and stride. If someone is gonna break Bolt’s records it’s likely they will need a similar length. No. He’s not Bolt but he’s not Joe Fahnbulleh either. If he continues to develop and is not ruined by an American “elite” coach he has the potential to become one of the greats. He’s also Australian born and raised, of South Sudanese descent. Just as Usain is Jamaican born and raised, of African descent.

Everyone is hyped about Gout Gout because of HIS FORM. Is form is rare, unconventional, and so comparable to Usain Bolt’s. When Usain Bolt was breaking world records, and gathering Gold’s left right & centre, his never seen before form (a jerky/rocking start, loose body, hugeeee stride lengths, and an untouchable top end speed) was the reason. We are now seeing this SAME FORM in Gout Gout, which is the reason most people are excited. We are seeing the Usain Bolt story unfold ALL OVER AGAIN! Go Gout Gout 🎉

Agreed , I think there is a few salty commentators here , they seem to avoid his finishing time is already on par at the top level, if he gets his starts going he will be straight up there with the best maybe even quicker. Rob keeps saying he didn't win in the juniors , his closing last 100 was insane and nearly got him there and had it been run 4 weeks later he would of won by 3-mts as he dropped from 20,69 to 20.04 and wasn't walasa winning time around 20.50? He is the world's fastest 16yo ever so Rob is incorrect saying that there are faster kids his age, no Rob no one has ran a 20.04 200mt ever at 16yo. And he will run under 20 in the 200 and under 10 in the 100 this year at 17. Guaranteed he does not need to improve his speed in either , only his starts will do it.

I've watched a lot of these videos dissecting Gout Gout and I've finally worked out how he is different to other junior sprinters. He's charismatic in a way most of the names mentioned in this video are not. Poor Yohan Blake didn't just suffer from the curse of being the perennial bridesmaid, he was also up against Bolt's charisma as a performer. You can be the best athlete in the field and the most boring person in the race (Cole Hocker, SML). All these other junior sprinters mentioned might be better than Gout Gout or someone else might come along and overshadow him, but he is always going to be someone people want to see perform because he doesn't just compete he also entertains. That's the difference.

Of course comparisons will be made! He broke the Age WR of the greatest sprinter ever!.... When Bolt was extraordinary for his age(hence why he held the ag record!) As you stated Bolt's trajectory wasn't linear, so Gout's doesn't need to be to emulate or surpass Bolt's! I agree that it's better for Gout that expectations are tempered, but it's obvious that Athletics fans are going to be interested and excited about an athlete with such potential, Rob is talking out his arse when he says his times are nothing special!, he is comparing with athletes 2 years older! and the kid just broke an AG WR! ...not just anyone's, but Bolt's!

He's super talented 👏 for sure & he has better mechanics than "Bolt" had for sure at that age, & yes its exciting to see 👀, but please 🙏 remember he is a kid & it's going to be a while before he grows up into his grown man body, but in my opinion & imagination if whoever coaches him doesn't develop him & strengthen him with wisdom like "Bolt's" coach did him, "O🤷♂️Well", for me one has to know what they are doing to develop this kind of talent, & in a ideal 👉 🌏 I personally would love to see 👀 coach "Mills" train this kid simply because of all his experience coaching "Bolt" & "Blake" & others which is probably not likely unfortunately for him in my imagination, cause I really feel he's a natural gifted developing talent, but what of his attitude, would he have the humble spirit of a "Bolt" or once he starts doing the "Bolt" work-outs could he go through all that hard ass grinding as his body changes into a full grown man, or if he gets his ass handed to him early on will it break his spirit like the other kids spirit got broken when he got ran 🏃♂️ down in the 2 💯 by the other world class sprinter remember, I knew then he would never be what he could be after that whipping, his mind was gone, but i can say he is still running 🏃♂️ & doing well, but his chances of actually winning the big ones is over in my opinion, anyway, that's how I see 👀 it at this time for our young speedster for now only time will tell the final tale!!!
