The way the title question was phrased by the user makes me think some people think Microsoft literally don't sell their games because of Game Pass. When the reality is they sell every single one.

I'm not confident Microsoft will hit 100 million game pass subscribers or even 50 million game pass subscribers in the next 5 years. I just don't see the average mainstream consumer who's not sold on a big box console pivoting to a Firestick or Roku in order to play video games via the Cloud and Game Pass. There are real obstacles we can't just ignore with the cloud game pass business model as we've already seen with the failures of Google Stadia and Amazon Luna. We know the barrier to entry in setting up a Firestick wt a game controller, signing up to game pass, inputting your credit card, navigating the layout, etc. is often times seen as high and confusing for the average consumer. We already have studies showing that this issue was one of the major reasons why Google Stadia failed. Additionally majority of the games on Game Pass cater to a hardcore audience, and that hardcore audience would rather just buy a big box console so they can have more ownership over their games and get better performance than streaming the same game over the cloud. None of these issues have been solved to date and they continue to persist for the foreseeable future. I think the biggest fallacy we make with the cloud video game subscription model is assuming we can mainstreamify gaming in the same way we mainstreamified videos and music. There are tangible differences in how each medium operates and is consumed, and unless we recognize those differences and address them individually, we will never be able to commercialize hardcore gaming in the cloud the same way we do with music and videos.

they will roll it out to more TV's, I've played about 18 hours of Starfield, 30 of SoT, 32 of madden and 14 of MCC on my Samsung TV, as a person who loves their Playstation, I gotta say, its pretty impressive, they will up the resolution next console launch I'm assuming

@@RottieGuy1980- Unfortunately you’re the exception not the rule. If game pass was growing on these other platforms we’d know about it already. It’s just not growing on pc, tablets, smart tvs or anywhere else.

Feels like we're beating a dead horse constantly asking about Xbox console sales plummeting. They're well aware and they're all in on Game Pass. Their aim is not to lead in the console wars.

I think Microsoft had a very weak Xbox Series X Launch, but they have a lot in store now - they've won E3 with the most and biggest announcements and they should be in a much better position now: Indiana Jones, Gears of War E-Day, Fable, Doom: The Dark Ages, even new IPs like South of Midnight look really promising.

They did keep the GP price low and it didn’t grow for two years despite a release like Starfield hitting the platform. The reason you want lots of console players is so you have a massive install base to buy games on your store. Third party games. DLC. MTX. You can’t grow GP without growing console. Streaming is not something gamers are interested in and Steam dominates on PC. They are backing out of hardware and they are backing out of GP.

They're looking for millions of potential customers to be interested in Game Pass. Which is why we keep seeing these different partnerships even with a huge rival like Amazon. They need to get 100 million subscribers to keep the subscription going at least in the early 2030s. If they don't get anywhere close? It could be finished and they will just go back to selling games traditionally.

What I would do is make a couple of games exclusive to the console a year and nowhere else they have the studios to do that and I know that they have the damn money to do it too and you we see hardware sales go up you can have it all and eat your cake too and if they do make a held hand that to would help hardware sales too they will lose customers because they putting games on PlayStation and Nintendo that’s how it is people love exclusivity give them the reason to be in your ecosystem they are always going to be exclusives as long they are consoles case by case is not a good way to do it me personally don’t ever put your flagship games to PlayStation or Nintendo they will lose their fan base and it will damage the Xbox brand I promise you that I always said if they do put their flagship games over there then I would have to question them they would never get fable 😂

I think console gaming is its own thing that's not easily replicated on other devices. I've been disappointed by how few units Playstation's PC ports have sold, even though the PC is a console-adjacent platform. The smartphones and smart TVs that MS is aiming at with cloud gaming & GP are very different and distant platforms compared to consoles, so I doubt MS's console games will make much of a splash there.

I wont purchase a digital only console. I would go PC only. I already have a huge Steam library, and have alot of faith the steam store will never shut down. Consoles don't have such a great track record with keeping their digital stores open. And PC is an open system, so if a PC digital store shuts down then a cracked or drm free copy can likely be found.
