I'm glad they decided to have a standard version of Puerto Rico. It's close enough to the price of 1897, which I've seen a fair amount of negative thoughts on, and SUPRISE! A friggin new skin on San Juan is a $15 add on! How is no one talking about that?

I'm almost sold on Puerto Rico. I need to see the standard edition + acrylic tiles + metal coins and I'd be happy to buy and pass on my 16 year old copy of Puerto Rico to my son. Having 2 player mode codified in the rule book will be nice, because we always have to look up the alternate rules when it is just my wife and I playing. I agree on the worker miniatures and boats possibly getting in the way more than actually improving gameplay which are the 2 things that push me away from the Special Edition. That plastic tray organizer and dual layered boards are definite improvements. I wish more standard games that have player boards would use dual layered boards.

I totally agree with you about Puerto Rico and it's why I decided to not back it. I own both the original game and the card game of it and like both. But I don't want a massive box, more setup time, longer play time and more complex rules with expansions. If I have the time and want a more complex game I can pick so many more interesting and, more importantly, different games. I like my Puerto Rico the way it is, and the time it takes to play. Don't change a winning team.

But in this new edition AR has claimed that game will be streamlined, less heavier, less rules and more friendly UI, setup/teardown faster. So really I don't see a clue to own any other Puerto Rico. I bet it will be the best edition. So that's why I've backed it,plus there will be solo mode and for me it's also important. And yes I don't own any Puerto Rico games, so it was easier for me to decide. All editions of Puerto Rico haven't got solo mode.

For me personally the old Castles of Burgundy and Puerto Rico look like a pile of dog .... and the new look makes me wanna buy them. Also I only buy games if they have a good solo mode and both these games didnt have that before , Castles now does and I assume they will do a good job with this aswell. Sure gameplay is important but the way it looks adds to the experience and immersion of the game.

@@marcinczyzewski5021 if solo, then makes sense. However, any box of sufficient size invariably at some point increases set up time regardless of how organized it ends up being so I’m not sure I totally can believe that knowing how big their previous content has been

I like your videos, and I appreciate you honest feedback and opinion. I wish you'd improve the lighting and/or camera quality. Videos always look so dark and dingy. Good content though!

I think the low light quality is an exception since all videos I've seen so far have been properly lit. However, I DO wish his videos were color corrected. There's always a bluish/greenish tint to the videos (almost like it was filmed on a camcorder from 1989), which make them look a little off. But that aside, I LOVE his videos!

They mentioned that there'll be a second Galyzr expansions down the line. Dont care enought to pay for shipping twice and do multiple campaigns, will just wait for when the other comes to crowdfunding. I appreciate when campaigns mention planned expansions to give consumers awareness.

Whoops backed the expansion, will check it out and maybe canx so to get 2. Least they kept shipping low to my country. I didn't back leviathan exp as shipping was crazy for just exp to my country . If they do another, then likewise may make sense. Seem a nice company anyway. It's great successful KS/GF are returning , plus lots of cheap games in games of the year list you can get direct, So that just leaves niche kickstarters that look fun hard to get and the big ones from Cmon etc . I think 80% of the best rated KS returned for second printings etc

Agree with Puerto Rico Special Edition review. All the new print is pretty, but there isn't enough new thing in the gameplay for me to invest in a game I already own.

Yup Castles of Burgundy Special Edition was so much more interesting! I will never play without the Vineyard expansion again!

I backed Puerto Rico deluxe yesterday. For me it is worth it if it´s a game you like. In my game group a game will get more plays if it looks nice on the table. I must say I have to disagree with some of your points: Big and hard to carry? Sure, but there are big bags. Are the buildings necessary? Maybe not, but the sure look nice and I think the are a little bit easier to distinguish compared to CoB deluxe which I own as well. Set-up? I think some of it will go faster with the inserts.

I’m backing puerto rico standard edition as it has that classic feel but with the awaken realms improvements like double layer and extra content. I’m hoping for metal coins as an add on but we’ll see. They also confirmed the standard box will be smaller than the special box so it should be easy to get it around. San Juan for $15 is also a great value

The basic A.R pledge are always good value , plus they have the best shipping prices to most places in the world. makes you wonder how they can send a huge box to NZ , yet cmon will be twice the price ( TBF common shipping going down ) . I looked at it , and decided i couldn't find 4 people to regularly play it. We prefer lighter and quicker social games

@@nimblegoat yeah $18 for shipping to US is great considering international shipping and such. Even $30 or less to rest of world is great value compared to other campaigns where it can cost more than the game itself

Another interesting game on Kickstarter right now is Grow Sky. It's from Japan which unfortunately means it will cost ~$83 to get it to the US, but I expect that Kickstarter will be the easiest way to get it. (It looks like a $40 game to me.) Aside from the high cost I'm a bit worried about the quality of translation of the rulebook, but it does seem to me to be a solid and unique game.

I saw it actually and was going to cover it but the lack of as much English on the page to get a great sense for the details and having a QR code for rulebook, I decided to pass on it.

Dc deckbuilder is balanced with each core box (with the exeption of the first, avoid) and it is recommended to only mix one core and one module at a time. I own almost all the serie and chosen to stop getting more. I don’t play it often enough for the amount of content i have. The main reason i own that game is that it is a nice entry level game to play with non gamers.

Agree. That would be my main reason as well from my kids standpoint
