The kicking a tree is misleading because Thai boxers do practice on banana trees, however they're either dry or dying trees. Just from the structure of the banana tree, the more you kick it, the more it unravels, and it gets softer. The dry banana trees are probably not as hard as modern day kickboxing heavy bags

No. If you don’t live in this area you won’t come across a banana tree very often. The way you hrow banana is to harvest the fruit and cutting down the tree so thay it can regrow and produce more bananas. Banana trees aren’t hard or tough, they are super soft and you can chop ot down with a couple good swings with a machete if you’re strong

If you punch so heavy that even in wraps and gloves your knuckles get injured sometimes, you could do knuckle push ups, but don't do it daily if your new to it, cause when our bones rocked, it can have small cracks, but when those cracks heal, the bone becomes harder than before, healing times are important

So, I need to add that you shouldnmt be putting too much force against your shins. Bones can bend and when they do the compression is directed towards the front of the bone while the back of the tibia becomes stressed and elongated making it weaker and more susceptible to breaking. The goal of thay is to deaden nerves, but on doing so it feels strong while on fact you risk hairline fractures. The most effective way is conpression of the bone, so squats and falmers walks as well as sprints will allow even microfractures throughout your entire tibia which will distriubte calcium deposits to evenly replace lost calcium from the fractures. So deadening nerves and building bone density should be viewed as seperate things and it shouldn’t be interchangable. The goal of that is not only to strengthen it but also to prevent the loss of strength which starts to occur roughly around the age of 30. You can see this in many athletes, when they hit the threshold age where the calcium deposit doesnmt allow for optimal bone repair and strengthening, the back of the tibia will be unable to support the bend and it will break from the back of the bone, while the front of the tibia will remain fine, the fracture starts from the back

I understand what you are saying. But I did all the conditioning with the rolling pins and striking with the stick on the shins. So I could break someone’s leg when I fight them. I also did Iron Palm so I could break bricks with my bare hands. I don’t wear bag gloves when I train on the heavy bag. Some people have a higher threshold for pain. But you are right you don’t have to do all that stuff to get conditioned.

Just for the record, people: the "hardening"/conditioning is mostly due to the nervous system lessening the pain signal because it no longer perceives something as a threat. Same thing with flexibility. The muscle doesn't somehow become longer/looser per se. It's the nervous system (i.e. the brain) that gradually allows more range. One cannot become a T-800 or Luke Cage from smashing yourself with objects, lol. Mas Oyama was a mess with chronic aches and arthritis from hitting rocks and trees...

With the thighs, stomach, upper arm etc its muscle and skin taking the impact isnt it, so only gets sore due to bruising doesnt it. A day or two and the bruising is going or is gone. Shins and knuckles though, yes I guess heavy bag work does the job, it just takes time doesnt it. @joelrusk64123 жыл бұрын
So I used to do iron body training (basically body conditioning). It honestly does a lot, if you do it properly and safely you can make massive improvements over the years without injury. However, I whole heartedly agree. What really is the point. I have found no other point or benefit to it from that of showing kids that I can punch solid concrete walls at near max power and not hurt my hand. I have noticed some joint issues as well. Not in my hands but elbows and shoulders. I can’t say that it is directly a cause but I would not be surprised if that were the case. There is truly no need, even in street fighting. There is literally no point to it. The monks do it for a sense of discipline but you get that just from showing up to training class every night and putting in work. I personally wish I spent that time on my cardio. That’s my two cents added. It is nice to know such a talented champ thinks similar. However I wish I realized a lot earlier haha

The real question is how does one NOT end up like Anderson silva ?!
@emmycaty467011 ай бұрын
Is it really make the shin stronger by science? No study about this and I worry for Muay Thai fighters’ health.

How well do you think running helps condition the shins?
@GabrielVargaOfficial4 жыл бұрын
Probably doesn't help at all. I bet if you took an gold metal runner and banged him in the shins he would have lots of pain. I can't say for certain but the only thing I think helps is taking impact on the shins.
@jeeehad94754 жыл бұрын
I can only assume you also heard running creates micro fractures in the bone which apparently makes the bone more dense when it repairs. How true it is I'm not sure but in martial arts when its impact against the front of the shin where there are nerves

Great video bro...can I ask what your opinion on wolffs law is? It’s about the bones adapting due to the pressure that is placed on them. Also u mentioned Kyokushin karate...do u believe that all knuckle conditioning will cause arthritis in the future?
@X23-ak473 жыл бұрын
I like kicking trees 😂
@SagaciousEagle3 жыл бұрын
Ironically, Kyokushin fighters don't really condition the shin.
@GloryBlazer2 жыл бұрын
I see what you did there

A friend of mine once asked me why i don't condition my shins with a stick and i told him it would be like training your whole life for a bear fight while living in the city!i am not gonna bang a wall or a tree so why train for it!
@pablomaquiling92523 жыл бұрын
Straight down the pipe advice, Gabe... Just hit the bag, the pads, run/jog... It condenses the bones and numbs the nerves gradually with enough time to heal and be stronger.. And never over do it especially on fight week... otherwise, youd feel what Anderson felt

Oooooh. That still makes me cringe. Uhhhhh
