That’s ridiculous….. AI has no place when competing with art created by humans. I remember this same argument about digital in the traditional art show circle… & I understood those concerns, esp when you’d see people doing smudge paintings of photos & entering. I think AI is a much bigger stretch that that though…. When it’s purely AI there is no element of human art.
@Shayde2682 жыл бұрын
I still see LOT of people dissing Digital Art in general. But I'm hoping now AI is out that at least our digital art may get a better reputation as at least it involves genuine human input and painting skills. Also had a dabble with Midjourney and I did not get good results. Lot of smoke and mirrors but massive faults!
@Lawrence7412 жыл бұрын
You should be scared of AI, depending on the field you are working in. I have experienced that the AI is really bad at compositions which involve the full body of a character. Characters doing a specific pose in a specific perspective and environment is something no AI can handle properly. Midjourney is amazing with faces, but bad with putting it in perspective and most of the pictures seem pretty flat. If you are drawing images like cartoons/anime you have nothing to fear. I personally like it for timesaving reasons and I put it to good use without having the time or budget to do it myself or hiring other artists. Anyway if you have the knowledge and time, do it yourself. Never have I generated an image which was like I wanted it. Our imagination is still superior. I am more worried that people stop to commission artists because it's cheaper with an AI and I sadly have seen it already with certain youtubers.

Yeah, I had some weird anatomy come out of Midjourney too 😄
@Lawrence7412 жыл бұрын
@@Paintable In anatomy and composition I had the best results with Dall-E 2, but it's very bad in face generation. Most of them were deformed or just pieces of flesh patched together 😅 In style and faces midjourney takes the cake. Both have a long way to go and I am sure it requires an artist in the end to fix all the issues the AI generation has. I don't think this will change anytime soon.

And the most scary perspective is one day when Ai will be the majority part of the illustration online, artist hand will be obsolete. Anyone not at least concerned by AI art is incredibly naive. AI illustrations have already been used for editorial illustrations in major publications. That's a significant commission opportunity that has been taken form an artist with a technology that is only going to get MORE advanced. I've seen people say 'It's ok people will still want real art'. Will they? I really don't think enough non-art people care enough about where the art they want comes from, only what they get as a result, for this not to be considered a threat to developing artists opportunities.
@LionArtStudio2 жыл бұрын
At this point, AI is very one noted…. They all look the same…. It’s very obvious what’s AI. It can create a cool image…. But it’s not going to replace illustrators at this moment. AI combined with a greatly skilled artist is a different story, & im hoping it’s going to be a tool I can combine with my process when working on really tight deadlines. Concept art, & matte painting I think will benefit from it greatly, as your knocking out multiple images a day, character design, anatomy, illustration…. I can’t see Wizards of the coast hiring someone for their AI art, or the BBC to work on games or art from their iconic series. I really think people are freaking out for no reason. Artists will always have a place… just as hand made does over mass produced.

How much different is it when AI gathers other work and makes art out of it vs how we do it when we make our own "original" work, we take from what we have seen before. I don't mean directly claiming other peoples original work as your own cos that would be wrong, but all great artists steal to some degree, the lack of limiting oneself artistically or so called "morally" is what makes great artists so good at it.

@asdf301112 жыл бұрын
Your not, the AIs work by denoising a seeded noise. They don't store any images. You might be painting over a face shape, or face texture or face style but not an actual face someone drew that was modified.

@@asdf30111 Sure! 🤣Then explain how whole spaceships and signatures of real artists were copied and pasted into AI "art" results? It's all just lies and more lies from lazy thieves who didn't want to work hard so they stole whole databases with real artists' hard work.

@@sisi3565 It reminds me of an argument I had with one AI-lover who said that "Scarlett Johansson's face isn't really used because AI adds so much noise that it isn't really her face, it only looks like it" xDDD Ridiculous what people tell themselves (and others) to justify theft.
@asdf301112 жыл бұрын
@@sisi3565 You know you could test your own claim, or just be "lazy" and just write any claim you want. While it is called an AI all it is a denoiser it has no idea what the objects in the image are just how they connect to words. For it the difference between a tree and watermark is just the form it takes. Though the watermarks it makes are not copied as even that would take way too much storage space, but made on the spot from the noise.
@asdf301112 жыл бұрын
@@Lola_in_the_Black Well that is a silly thing to say, as the AI is trained on removing noise. In fact it is so good it can nearly restore images fully from 80% noise. Fun fact sense it is a denoiser you can also use the AI to get rid of noise in pictures you take. As the AIs are currently the best denoisers we have. But while her face is 100% used, no specific picture of her face is used during denoising. In fact currently the AI over does the traits and to get the best images for famous people you need to have the AI feed with a negative prompt. As the real Scarlett Johansson is "less" her self then what the AI spits out.
