What I think is that the wolf needs to have a stat increase based on the number of shadows it has. Right now, it seems like the wolf is just used as a simple block for Vigil’s talent to trigger while being one of the weakest summons out of all of the Tacticians. (All at 175 total level) Beanstalk’s summon at E2Lv70 has 1895 HP, 404 ATK, and 408 DEF Blacknight’s summon at E2Lv55 has 2418 HP, 447 ATK, and 290 DEF Vigil’s summon at E2Lv45 has 989 HP, 337 ATK, and 288 DEF Sure with a 3x stack of shadows, Vigil’s summon would _technically_ have 2967 HP, but it could get overwhelmed by blocking 3x enemies. -Especially once Mumu comes out, Vigil be even more irrelevant.- All I’m hoping is that each shadow would increase the summon’s stats (HP, ATK, DEF) by +25%. As for his Skills; Skill 1 is good to leave as it is if his summon have better stats. Skill 2 should work like Flametail’s Skill 1, so it doesn't need the summon to block to trigger. (Maybe +1 or 2 to SP cost) Skill 3 would probably have a lower SP Cost so it can trigger more often.

The problem is his talents need the wolf to block enemies. If they don't, you can give them Brawler range and they would be far far FAR better at attacking enemies while someone like Noir Corne does the actual blocking. They won't even need a stat buff since their offense is already good.

Unless there is a comparison video of the 3 current Tactician Vanguards where Vigil outdps the others at the same "total" level, Vigil summon's stats (excluding its HP) are more comparable to a 4* summon like Beanstalk, meanwhile Blacknight is in a tier of her own strategy.

@@Zack_Zander this is Arknights. Stats is not the end all be all. If the wolf doesn't die, Vigil can quite easily out DPS Blacknight with his S3. The main point is that we need the wolf to not die. Sure more stats can help him tank, but in a strategy game there are more than one ways to keep something alive. And I much prefer other methods than just raw stats

@@straypaper For me, the problem is because of the summon's block increase for each shadow since the 3-block makes the summon fragile. Either they remove the block increase, since the summon and Vigil can only attack 1 target at a time so there's not really any point in the extra block; or that for *_every_* shadow it has, it gains more HP and DEF (I would also prefer ATK added) to negate that 3-block fragility.

To be honest I quite like Vigil, to me he is like Kal'tsit but cheaper and easy vanguard. When I first got Kal'tsit, I immediately put her in the "I don't trust you(r ability as a Medic), but I trust your pet" operator category. And Vigil with a great honor is in second place after Kal'tsit.

I don't think a module will fix much. I would like it if his summon would get an extra +25% stat increase based on the number of shadows it haves. As for the Skills; Skill 1 should be left as it is, as long as the Summons gets buffs Skill 2 should trigger like Flametail’s Skill 1 so that the summon won't be required to trigger it. (Maybe increase the SP cost by 1) Skill 3 should require less SP cost to trigger.

It regens one head every 25s and shield every 25s, so that means it gets an extra hit every 12.5s. You need to one shot the wolf every 12.5s or faster to kill it. That would be too broken

I did build vigil and sadly I use S1 all the way :) He's pretty useful for my defensive strategy. And yes, that's about it. If his S3 got buff like gain 1 wolf spirit per cast, will surely use him more.

Hard disagree, vigil has been a saving grace for me, i throw one other operator to support him, typically a sniper, and pretend that lane doesnt exist. If he has to go against heavy armor, his s3 is super useful, otherwise I prefer his s1.

i did build him. i think his wolf pack with 3 block ignore armor is really amazing and his role is vanguard so low tier enemy is no problem almost can carry lane easily. but if we talk about his skill 3 i really feel like its trash. wolf can't tank elite so no matter how much wolf damage its not really worth anything at all.

Dont know man, i`ve build him to use in IS3, and he`s doing a pretty neat job carrying me thru stages. He doesnt shine as ling or mlynar, but he`s very decent as utility-unit providing some dp regeneration, 3 block in case of emergency leaks, or some cheap damage to aerial enemies, which in new IS3 we have plenty. He`s not the star of the show, but very solid backgroud unit, cementing youre team. So i dissagree with you on that opinion. Ofc Mulseye is better, but she wont be around for half of the year, so to my opinion, its a little pointless to compare at this moment.

I have him at E2-60. No masteries, not sure will I go for that. He was already doing really well against enemies like defense crushers in ce-6 stage for example. Pretty good for a vanguard. Not as impactful as some other 6-star vanguards but with a good module upgrade he can be really powerful in the future.

really nice pulls you got 7 which is one over average, which is good i also got 7 but way worse: 1 texas alter (all her pots are great, sad i only got 1 of her) 2 penance (good unit but not really worth pots) 1 hellagur (ehh.. just after getting penance that fills his role too) 1 schwarz (ok) 1 fartooth (im happy with that i like that unit) 1 fiammetta dublicate (i only had 4 6 stars the chances were insane) i sparked nearl alter (wifu reasons) and have ehough certs for 2 more 6 stars. ill get skadi alter one day(most likly by sparking) but can get over support if i need her for now. ill be fine, but it wasnt a great banner over-all, i at least i got them both. the lack of texas pots is sad i can get 2 from IS and SS but that means you can max pot her with those 2. i would go with rosmantis as the blocking of melee unit from ranged is kinda rare and chould be inportant in some content and niches, along with her sniper range. but w easy acess to stuns is also usefull but texas is kinda the queen of stuns now, her afk knights is good though if thats a thing you do.

My idea for vigil skill set: Talent 1: since muelsyse clone also got skill, why not give the wolves a skill. The trait of the wolf is same as the original. (1 wolf shadow gain 1 block and additional hit). However, change the 25 sec to gain a wolf shadow into a skill with 25sp cost auto recovery to gain 1 wolf shadow. If the stacked is full, the skill will recover the wolf hp to max. Talent 2: When deployed, Vigil and his wolves ignore 200 def and 10 res for enemies blocked by wolves. Sircausa operator gain half of this effect on enemies block by themselves. A support talent to sircausa gang suits his sircausa theme. Cuz why not ? Skill 1: Give 8 dp, gain 1 wolf shadow and wolves gain 8 sp. Just a little buff to this skill, helps to improve vigil wolves survivability. Skill 2: Give 3 dp, wolves gain 1sp and buff the wolves next attack that can attack all blocked enemies, restore 25% hp and inflict bleed(-10aspd - 10%attack) for 5 seconds. If only 1 enemy blocked, deal additional arts damage equals to vigil 50%attack. Vigil and his wolves gain 1sp if this attacks defeats an enemy. A unique debuff that can increase wolves survivability. The original skill 2 only recover a little hp that doesn't help a lot in wolves survivability. Skill 3: During skill duration, gradually gain 12 dp and causes attack hit 3 times. Each hit from vigil and wolves grant the wolves 1 sp. When vigil or wolves deal damage to enemies block by the wolves, deal additional arts damage equals to vigils 50% attack. Vigil prioritise attacking enemies block by his wolves. The original skill 3 has decent damage, however the wolves is too fragile to support the whole duration. With this buff, it helps the wolf to recover the sp greatly, which means gain wolf shadow more often. Since vigil heavily rely on his wolves, this mechanic helps to improve the wolves survival. It also provide unique debuff bleed when the wolf attacks the enemies on skill 2. Advantages: Wolves survivability has greatly improve. Makes him a reliable laneholder for trash mob. Disadvantages: The wolf shadow was affected by sp recovery, means that it is vulnerable to sp recovery down or necrosis damage(cannot gain sp, reduce sp 1 per sec and deal 100 arts damage per sec)

Already built him, E2 60 M6. Did I regret that? No. Do I enjoy using him, despite the flaws? Yes. I'm not a try hard/big brained player who can see a spot to use S3 or make him shine as DPS all the time though, so S1 is usually my go to skill lol.

The problem with vigil is that his utility begins and ends with damage. He has good damage and 3 block count and thats it. His wolf is way too squishy to block slightly stronger unit.

whatever people talk about vigil I"ll still build him cuz he can block 3 enemies just like a defender operator with low cost dp that normally a operator who can block 3 enemy need high dp cost, and his wolf can automaticly revive and no need to spend any dp to bring it again on battle which its very f*ckngood. Yes his wolf gains not much damage and less defend ability but i think we are didn't really need a strong deffender cuz we're more often to spend preety much dp for a defender operator just for handling a big numbers of weak enemy wave and vigil is one of best operator who can handling it better plus he can attck flying enemy

In my case Vigil is actually quite important operator. Why? Sure, he isn't amazing but he is enough for my lupoknights squad. There are currently only 12 lupos available, and only two of them are vanguards. He can do a little bit of everything: Provide some blocking with his wolves, generate some DP, deal some arts damage... Yeah, he isn't great, and I wouldn't really recommend building him under most cases but in my case I took him to E2 Lv.60 on the day I got him. I didn't prioritize his masteries (Texalter, Penance, Lunacub and even Highmore were higher on my priority list) but just earlier today I started training his S3 after I finished Highmore's S1M3. Also, before anyone asks, yes, I also promoted Quartz (and max pot her) to E2 because she is also part of lupoknights squad. To be fair, a few not so good operators are very much needed in a squad with operators such as Texalter, Penance, Pozëmka and Horn.

honestly idgaf, i built Vigil. i’ve been using him for a while now and he’s very useful in a variety of stages granted yes he’s 14 DP to deploy. but so was saga pre-module, so i’ve gotten used to that rhythm of the early game, just kind of waiting and seeing what comes out and then dropping in a pioneer. so waiting for vigil to be first out isn’t a big deal to me. (and saga now can deploy at 10dp with module, which is siiiiiiiiiick) but anyway the big thing i figured out is that vigil’s niche is 3-blocking. he’s the only tactician that can really do that, which in turn makes him one of the only vanguards that can 3-block. so he doesn’t even have saga’s weakness of the combined 2-block / Preaching trait making you leak sometimes if you rely on her for holding down a lane in tough content. vigil just immediately locks it down. his summon has excellent survivability, and the combined damage of vigil and the wolf pack surpasses blacknight’s damage easily, especially with the def-ignoring talent at e2. is that damage on par with someone like mlynar or SA? no. but that's fine furthermore, he has a lot of flexibility in his skills. s1 is dp-printing and minion survival, s2 is pure minion survival, and s3 is damage. so if you don’t get too hung up on the fact that he prints less dp than flagpipe (literally everything prints less dp than flagpipe lol), and you don’t expect him to outdamage dreadnoughts or whatever, he’s literally fine he 3-blocks a lane, his minion never dies, and he can attack air units. he’s not there to print dp, but he has a bonus of giving you a trickle of it now and then in bursts (s3) or over time if he’s holding down a lane for you (s2). he’s fine! especially when viewed in the context of welfare units. he’s easily on par with a unit like Grani. i actually rate him a bit higher in some situations. also he's VERY handsome

Honestly, all of Vigil's problems are just his numbers being way too low. Low HP/attack minions, painfully low personal attack, terrible DP generation. I get that he's a free character, but it astounds me that he's so bad that Beanstalk, a unit TWO RARITIES LOWER THAN HIM, completely eclipses him. Unbelievable. 🤦‍♂
