I just got a Guild 12 string. I can’t put it down. The sound is totally captivating. This far my observations: 1. Invest in a good chromatic tuner. 2. Use a soft pick.

First time 12 string guitar owner and fell in love instantly! Tuning is not that bad, just need to get used to it. Now, it takes only a minute or two, no more than that to tune. Unlike some old dudes said “ 12 string guitar, you spend 1/2 the time tuning and half the time playing out of tune “. That’s absolutely untrue, totally worth it to own one.

Thx. You just saved me from buying one. Actually an octave pedal with space effects makes my acoustic sound really good! Re-stringing a 12 is not in my movie.

The problem is that they are much harder to finger and if it is not well calibrated or well built, this will only be a bag of dissatisfaction and if one is not very careful it can even end up with tendonitis. Some choose to lower the height of the strings or put on strings of a smaller gauge and that is when another problem can begin: the wound strings start to fret or present buzzing due to excess vibration... Then another problem arises: over time the top of the guitar starts to become convex due to excess tension and temperature changes and that begins to raise the strings. Regarding this last point, some prevent this by placing brick doctors, string pullers, storing the guitar in an artificially tempered environment, lowering it a tone or semitone... Finding a fret capo is another problem: they are either much more expensive and not all of them work well...

Cool video. I’m definitely looking for a decent twelve string that’s not expensive. The sound is just phenomenal!

there is two parts playing a 12 stringer the first half is tuning it the other half is playing out of tune and 12 strings is a strain on the neck and bridge you will get a bow in the neck easy

Lot of players tune down half or whole step. Less strain, plus actually sounds fuller that way.

The correct question is, what type of 12 string should I buy and how many? One that has a brighter, more articulate sound and is easier to play is really a good choice. Years ago I played a Takamine 12-string and a Yamaha 12-string and they sounded and played great. And then I found Taylor, and Taylor guitars sound amazing. I used to have a 12-string that I bought second hand, sight unseen, and didn't realize that it had a slight warp in the wood on top. It sounded okay, but if you really want to get a good one, just bypass the okay ones and go straight for the good ones. I tuned the 12-string a half step down since I was worried about the slightly warped top.

If you're buying a 12-string to play metal song you're a certified idiot.

“Jesus loves me, this I know. Look at this twelve string that I stole.” - Early Cuyler, Squidbillies Seriously, the Squidbillies episode “Greener Pastors” just inspired me to want to play a 12 string lol

Should I get a 12 string guitar??? 🤔🤔🤔🤔 I say f@$% yeah you should get one I love my Taylor 12 string acoustic/electric guitar!!! The Taylor 12 is my favorite guitar but I'd say my Gibson Les Paul is the funnest guitar out of the 2!!! If you ever decide to get one than you should get one cause you won't regret it and if it's an acoustic/electric that's even better

I'm total beginner and a mate gave me his 12 string (electric). Will this be impossible to learn?

I would start with 6 strings, build yourself a good knowledge of open chords, strumming patterns and some basic barre chords first. I would say play 6 string for about a year, get yourself really comfy with basics then try the 12 to add to your skills! Good luck 😊

Re-string? Just get a mug of coffee, some biscuits, put on a good album or a documentary on KZbin and realise how much more fun this is than being at work, sitting in the dentist's chair or being bummed by a baboon.

Most of the 12 string guitar sales are from mexicans lol
@ron883032 ай бұрын
Before buying, do your research to know where the guitar was made. Asking the salesperson is a start.
