Using a service like this is something I haven't considered before but could be the perfect option for larger pieces such as busts or terrain that don't quite fit on the build plate of my Mars 2 Pro. Thanks for this insight!

Grow tent setups are helpful, but indeed, they are moderately difficult to work around because of just how much space they take up. I have a 30x18x36" tent that barely fits my Mars 2 Pro and Mercury X wash and cure station, with a tiny work area, but it also provides filtration, storage of things, and most importantly, keeps the mess in one specific area. Four or especially five feet of room to work with for resin would be a godsend though, but sadly I don't have that kind of space because of two Voron printers (300 Trident, and 350 v2.4r2). The other cost many don't comment about with printing, especially FDM printers - electrical costs. The larger the printer gets, and the faster it prints, the more power it's going to consume due to heated beds and having to pour more energy into the hotend. A lot of that energy also winds up as waste heat in the room it's in too...

Yeh really good point, I didn’t cover power at all

I don't know, should I? I already have like 10 of them. Although only two are in what I would call "active use." A pair of Adventurer 5Ms. I also occasionally use my resin printer, but it has a pretty small build volume, and there's all the "resin issues" that go along with it. I have a few other FDM printers that are just collecting dust.

I honestly think a lot of people don't realise how toxic those resins actually are. I'm all for letting people do what they want, if they're educated about the risks and know what precautions they need to take; but I don't think 3d printer manufacturers do nearly a good enough job of broadcasting this information. I wonder how many people rinse their "water washable resin" under the sink, and don't realise that stuff shouldn't go into sanitary water treatment.
@RisingApe2 ай бұрын
I agree mate, it’s scary stuff and it’s really easy to be lax about it
@sylas97622 ай бұрын
so we can't drain the water after we clean the resin print into the sink as well?
@Evangelus62 ай бұрын
If you look at the actual material safety data sheets, you'll probably find that most water washable resins are SUPER LETHAL to wildlife in your waterways. Elegoo water washable's MSDS states it is "Aquatic Chronic 3 H412 - harmful to aquatic life with long lasting effects". And under its Environmental precautions section states "Do not allow product to reach sewage system or any water source. Inform respective authorities in case of seepage into water course or sewage system... ...Do not allow to enter sewers, surface or ground water" Another section states "Must not reach sewage water or drainage ditch undiluted or unnaturalised", but that section also declares it's self-assessed... In short they sell to end users something that should not be disposed of without specialist disposal or neutralising agents, knowing full well that almost none of their end users are going to read the Material Safety Data Sheet, and knowing they have not put anywhere near enough warnings on the bottles. It's super problematic, and I'd expect some regulator is going to come down on it all like a tonne of bricks some day soon...

You shouldn't its till toxic and wont cure. you should bottle it and dispose safely in best case

GW made me pick up 3d printing, I wanted some meganobz for an ork army and they want £45 for 3. For the amount I needed I could pick up a 3d printer instead and it seemed like a no brainer!

I hope 3d printer people are non-hypocritical enough to also make their own paints, glues, and paintbrushes rather than relying on the stores they’re kneecapping by not buying the actual minis from. Would be a shame to think that 3d print types are just selfish and want everything on their terms but still expect stores to cater to them with the products they can’t get rip off versions for cheap elsewhere.
@RisingApe2 ай бұрын
I do get your sentiment but there are now so many models that are 3d print only there is no excuse for ripping off model companies. There are pros and cons both ways but regards glues and hobby supplies, there are loads of place to buy these that aren’t model shops.
@Buggritt2 ай бұрын
Well no.... I buy my glue, brushes and paints from the shops you're talking about. The resin too. In fact branching away from GW and getting some much cheaper prints has led to me buying Infinity models from my flgs. It's not as black and white as you seem to think it is.

@@RisingApe instead of writing an essay about what was wrong with it, I'll ask - what was the point of this video? How did it improve viewers knowledge? because I heard a lot of meaningless subjective opinions, and guilt? or "disposal of liquid resin"? you know you can pour it in a dish and set out in the sun to cure, right? even the washed off stuff, you either let ipa or water evaporate, rest hardens make it safe, if you want to be responsible - send it off to be incinerated, that is about the cleanest method there is to dispose of it, and recoup some of the energy for heating your home in winter rest of it sounds like any other pcbway sponsored video, where the whole point is - if you want to make something, just send it to them, which is the bane of any industry today - everything gets sent over to be made "there", and then you complain about raising inflation, national debt, while "they" are getting to invade their neighbors by building up army, navy and air forces so - dumb, youtube toilet content this is, because at the end of it nobody is getting smarter, just you getting some $$ from sponsor
