The only way they can make resin printers better is to take the toxicity out of resin.

Just so you're aware, there's a new motherboard for the Elegoo heater that will reduce that banding. Reach out to support.
@RisingApe2 күн бұрын
The Elegoo heater didn’t cause the banding it was the cheap space heater that did that. The Elegoo combined with the band heater was perfect. I appreciate the comment though
@Botanical40382 күн бұрын
@RisingApe ah, I misunderstood
@awildtomappeared59252 күн бұрын
'banding... and it still looks pretty good'..... noooooo the worst case scenario is a bad heater that causes banding. This is because they switch on and off with too much power or too big a differential, unfortunately there are few to no resin heating solutions that use PID heating like we have on FDM. The elegoo heater had very bad banding, there is now a v1.2 that is fixed.
@RisingApe2 күн бұрын
For sure, the print quality I would say was fine for a beginner but the banding was caused by the cheap space heater not the Elegoo. The Elegoo was perfect once paired with the band heater to boost temps. Thanks for the comment though
@awildtomappeared5925Күн бұрын
I've seen pleanty if noobs have lines and complain about it, it's not something that should be accepted on any printer, unlike fdm with dozens of primary factors we only need printers to move the plate straight up and cure a sharp image that isn't asking much. if you will notice it is less about if you are new to the hobby and more about what you are printing, detailed minis don't show it much but anything smooth like a space marine and or anything big and it shows easily.

I've got the same brewer's belt (in a ~18º room) but it's around the outside of the hood (at vat level) of my Mars 2 Pro rather than the vat. Turn that on a good while before the print and I've not had a failure since. Did try one of those mini-heaters (which worked fine) but there's no easy way to have one inside the Mars 2 Pro hood without shenanigans around cutting holes in the hood.

For sure, the absolute best way is to control the environment. When the temp is above freezing at night I don’t have issues. And yeh not way to avoid modding on older machines
@Nolidior3 күн бұрын
I bought Elegoo one three months ago, and been using it since with no issues with my prints. Temp of room my printer is in goes around 5-10C. Dunno mate, you might have wrong settings or resin for your own situation. Heating resin around 24C before printing helps too :/
@RisingApe3 күн бұрын
Appreciate the comment and for the views. On the settings front they are just optimised for the correct temperature , when it’s 25 or more the prints were perfect. If you are successful printing at lower temps then my guess is you upped your exposure which is fine but comes with a trade off.

I got my first 3D printer for Christmas, but I did a lot of research before getting one. I made sure to order a fermentation belt to go with it, as I knew I'd also be printing in the garage at around 2°C. I'm happy to say I've been printing several times a week since then and have not had a single failed print even sometimes printing at -1°C! I find that switching on the belt for about 30 mins before I start the print heats up the resin to somewhere between 22-25°C and the residual heat seems to also heat the rest of the chamber too so the build plate isn't super cold. I think I paid about £16 on ebay for the belt, for anyone wanting a solution I highly recommend starting there!
@erik_the_red-t5x3 күн бұрын
Do you wrap it round the machine or just around the vat??
@RisingApe3 күн бұрын

You wrap the belt around the vat, like in the video
@UriskOfTheFae3 күн бұрын
My brother & I actually just ordered a fermentation belt yesterday. Our printer's in the basement with a direct vent to the outside, but we keep the house (and therefore the corner of the basement in particular) fairly cold during the winter. Last year we got away with it just fine, but over the summer we changed from Siraya Tech Fast to Sunlu ABS-like, and the Sunlu definitely cares about the temperature drop. Since the temperature only needs to be raised a little, and most of my prints have managed to survive the partial de-lamination we're getting, I'm hoping the fermentation belt and pre-heating the resin will be enough.

No need for a belt and also a heater. Just lower the build plate to the vat for the duration of warming the resin up.

I could also heat it up with a hair dryer too, to be honest though I have several printers with inbuilt heaters so I just use them through winter. Like I said in the video, I would love a climate controlled garage best

Hands down, the best out of the box heater is the Chitu one. It’s cheapest on Amazon. I love mine. Temp control, I put mine at 21 degrees just to minimise fumes n keep it room temp, and the controls have a timer on too so you don’t have to leave it running all night if you’ve only got a 2-3 hour print going 😄

i notmaly use water washable / i set files to water washable abs like by photon, as it was a first time i used lyche settings, but ordered by accident was phon abs like normal resin, my printing area is in a cellar at around 10 degree or less - 3 outside with no heating, wrong setting wrong resin, for some reason ive had an entire bottle of perfect prints, go figure lol. oh and i put the normal resin directly into a vat that already had water washable resin in from elegoo for the first prints..... so the 2 resins mix it seems.
@RisingApe4 күн бұрын
Don’t complain, just stick to it! If you over expose you can often get prints regardless of temperature
@RocktCityTim4 күн бұрын
I use that same heater, but I use it inside of a grow tent with the lids from my printers removed. This allows me to keep my environment at a nice 28C. My 24"x24"x48" grow tent allows room for 2 AnyCubic Mono X 6Ks printers plus my print removal drip catching cookie sheet, tools, and extra resin. It was around 35 Quid on Amazon. What you ran into with your setup is due to the fact that the thermostat in the heater wasn't monitoring the temperature of the interior of the printer, but of the air in your garage around the printer, so you never reached 30C as far as the printer knew, and it just ran continuously driving up the temperature in the printer's enclosed section. By using the grow tent and removing your printer(s) lid, you heat the full environment - including both the air around the heater's thermostat and the temperature of all of the printer components. This allows the thermostat to turn the heating element off and on as needed and greatly reducing that energy cost.
@RisingApe4 күн бұрын
For sure, I mention grow tents as an option but they take up lots of space cost a fair bit too. It’s 💯 an option though and a really good one if you just have one or two printers

I bought the HeyGears actually mainly for the method of dealing with the resin with its simple resin cartridges that appealed to me and it's printing quality near that of the Saturn 4 Ultra. The only reason though that I really didn't pick the Saturn though was that I didn't want to deal with cleaning the resin off their their build plate. That's not to say that the HeyGears is perfect as you can't tweak the settings for other other resins and because of its price. That price blew my budget which totally sucked as I doubt I'll have enough money to buy another printer anytime soon if ever but it's a price I was willing to pay when I weighed the pros and cons for myself. In the end the pros and cons are what everyone need to weigh for when they purchase anything.

Re: KZbin pushing clickbait content: It's awful. Even if you enter the channel name and (almost) exactly the video title for the video you want to watch, KZbin will show you something else first and the video you're after a few videos down. Happened to me during the Female Custodes release/reveal last year (no, I am not discussing the for or against in this comment section). I heard a youtuber I was watching made a video about them - so I typed in the name of the channel and the topic/almost exactly the title. His video, sort of reasonable and calm, if snarky at the "How dare they retcon it so that Custodes can be female, Custodes can't be female because females are weak, GW - go woke, go broke" crowd, was the third I think. The other(s)? Exactly those cringe "WOOOKE!!!111!!" screeches. And just to make it clear - I watched enough of the videos and read the description to know what they were on. Which leads to the next problem: I "interacted" with the videos, so videos similar to that of course showed up in my recommendations and I could not block them. I could click on "do not show videos from this channel" but it wasn't a final block. Had to do that for ages again and again until KZbin got the message and stopped showing it to me. On a related note, bit sad that you and others essentially get peanuts for your work from KZbin itself. Sorry, got a bit off topic there. Looking forward to 2025's videos by you and other creators!

Hopefully, word of mouth and your authenticity can be the driving force behind your growth instead. You've got something special-trust that it'll resonate with the right audience.

The things I've been sent (mainly STLs) have all genuinely been amazing, but I find myself wanting to find things to moan about, partly to make it seem more "balanced" and partly I suppose, for that drama you mention. Staying true is the only way forward, but it's a tough biz!
