@tzxazrael4 жыл бұрын
yea. like he stated even at the start of the video... sometimes it's about the upgrade path, more than the current performance. $350 will get you up and running. the SMART option is choosing components that you can add to instead of replace, when your budget is that limited. if i have 8gb installed, and want to upgrade to 16.... -if i have 2x4gb to take advantage of dual channel, and it's a budget (or just an ITX) board with only 2 ram slots... i have to toss out the old ram to get better. -if i have 1x8 ... ok i lose out on the dual channel boost... FOR NOW... but all i need is to buy another 1x8 to go in beside it, and i'm not wasting any old components.
@Mike_Hogsheart4 жыл бұрын
@@tzxazrael honestly, that's just not a realistic scenarion. For one, an ITX build on a budget is an oxymoron. You are definitely paying a premium if you go with ITX, so any reasonable budget build will go with either mATX or ATX. Once you go mATX or ATX, you might as well get a 4 slot board. The 2 slot boards are the bottom of the barrel, which is the exact opposite of what you want if future upgradability is something you care about. TL;DR: you always go with dual channel memory, even if you are on a budget. Always.
@crunchbar7774 жыл бұрын
@@tzxazrael Have to say if you are going two memory slots you should still get dual channel, sell the 2x4 memory chips and use that money to help invest in 2x8, not like ddr4 is going out of style any time soon so you will get close to what you payed for it. Memory is one of those things that doesn't depreciate in value quickly since it is used on so many different generations of consumer hardware. Best advice for an AMD budget build is to buy the fastest memory you can at a set price point in dual channel. the price difference between corsair vengeance 3200mhz vs 2400 mhz is literally 2-5 dollars and sometimes they cost exactly the same. You will benefit from that way more than it's worth waiting to buy a second memory stick down the line, most people won't feel the need to upgrade for much longer since the performance will be so much better, and when they do just follow the advice in my first paragraph. Sure it's a tad bit more work but compared to having a much slower PC it's worth it.

There are a couple problems: 1. Even in a super budget build, if you go AMD, you MUST use dual channel memory 2. No one uses a 150 dollars graphics card with an Athlon
@paolocazzaniga87354 жыл бұрын
Yeah. I agree. By using just a twin stick of RAM instead of one, the built in graphic chip would have seen a massive performance increase due to doubling the data exchanged. Then overclocking the CPU and the memory would have add another boost. Instead adding an external GPU defeats the purpose of the whole budget PC.

This question was in fact answered in the video. It's 30% more money and it finished that test 3% faster. this whole video sucked. but totally ignoring intel sucked even more somehow. I would have been interested on differences between the 2 builds. good builds with amd and intel budget. you know: 2 sticks of ram, budget 64gb ssd, 60 usd motherboard and such. this video is useless, sry.

@@8lec_R I paid very good attention actually. On the other hand, you apparently can't read. He said "upgrade path". What he apparently doesn't realize is that any motherboard worth its salt, including his in the video, has four dimm slots (see where I already pointed that out), so you can very easily run dual channel 8 gigs and upgrade to 16 later by adding two more sticks. Yes, this means they can't upgrade to 32, but for a budget build that doesn't fucking matter does it. Feel free to pick up your clown costume at the door.
@8lec_R4 жыл бұрын
@@GeorgePerakis 1stly no. You are wrong. People in a sub 400 dollar category will never buy a 75 dollar mobo. Cuz that's stupid. I built a 400 dollar rig 3 years ago. I bought a mobo for 50 bucks (or less). It makes a lot more sense to invest in a better psu since that will go a long way. I also bought a single stick of ram and upgraded when I had the cash. Fyi buying 2 sticks of 8 gigs is a lot more economical that 4 of 4 gigs. And I'm frickin glad cuz I now have 16 gigs and Resolve works even better than it ever did or would have had I bought 2x4gigs 2ndly, no again. How much f***in' time does it take for one guy to collect 40 bucks to buy another stick of ram? 4 months max. Also upgrading Ram is literally the easiest task. Even my 5 year old cousin can do that. Feel free to take of that clown costume when you feel like it m8.
@tusux29494 жыл бұрын
@@8lec_R You simply do not run an APU on single chanel if you value your money. You do not run Resolve on a 50$ Athlon if you want to have anything done seriously. You do not "invest" in a better PSU if all you have is a 50$ Athlon, that thing runs on photosynthesis. There are A320 MBs with 4 DIMM slots if 75$ for a very decent B450 is too much for you. Do I need to continue ? The OP is right. This CPU is for Facebook, KZbin, Word/Excel, movies and music. Since 4GB is barely enough for Win10 these days (I've seen it live, it's a torture) AND since the Athlon will suck up to 2GB for VRAM, you should really get at least 8, which means there is no reason to not pick up a 2x4 kit. And 8GB will be plenty for what you would do with the CPU, like forever.
@GeorgePerakis4 жыл бұрын
@@8lec_R >who buys a 75 dollar motherboard for a cheap rig ....if you want an upgrade path, yes, that is what you will do. I assure you, being able to upgrade to a better CPU is much more valuable than a cheap RAM upgrade. And that's the kind of motherboard Linus was taking into account when he quoted 300 dollars for the build. For the PSU you need to pay 50 dollars for a decent namebrand unit. I can find 2x4 kits of ram going for 40 dollars. 3000Mhz kit by the way. Two of those is 80 dollars. That's about what you'd pay for a 2x8 kit that speed anyway. 50(CPU)+40(RAM)+50(psu)+75(mobo) is 215 dollars, leaving 30 dollars for a case and the 55 for storage, enough for a 500GB SSD. That's exactly 300 dollars for exactly the kind of build Linus quoted. And leaving you room for both a RAM upgrade and CPU upgrade down the line. Perfect entry level rig, and performs much significantly better than the single channel trident-z monstrosity Linus was using. You are so full of shit it hurts. Please stop blindly trusting youtubers.

@EUTube Kreuzberg too immersed in their bubble that they don't care about the rest of the world? I didn't realize somebody who lives in a third world country and has trouble getting food, would be worried about a cheap gaming rig, I apologize that most of us who don't have to deal with those issues have a tendency to assume that someone in that situation has better things to do than buy a gaming rig, sorry that we assume you are busy trying to survive instead, guess we are wrong, instead of being smart and doing what you can to save any money you have in order to survive and escape your impoverished conditions, you are wasting it on a cheap gaming rig to waste your life away. But tell me this, Is the man who has the money to waste on something unimportant and does a fool? Or is it the man who does not have the money to waste on something unimportant but still does and then suffers while blaming others for his own misfortune?

@@Herr.Mitternacht since you went to the length to enlighten me that your so offended by something so trivial and that you are the holy Knight defending those who might be in a situation to be offended by it as well. I'll remind you that those who are actually in that situation will most likely not come even close to getting offended by it. And even if they did, then they need to grow some thicker skin, or spend the $300 they were going to spend on a budget pc, instead on a safety bubble for them to hide in from the scary meanies of the world. And since you gave your life story to defend your reasoning then I suppose being fair is fair. I'm a 32 yr old male who lives in U.S.A, I am 5'11" and I weigh 68lbs if you don't realize what's wrong with that then not my problem. I work a job where I work 14 hours a day 7 days a week including holidays, for $8.00/hr all year round with no overtime pay, no holiday pay, and no vacation. I am considered an indentured servant as I grew up in foster care and when I turned 18 I did not have the money to pay the state the amount my schooling was worth. They choose the job I work, I have no say on the matter. And the interest rate they charge is more than my annual wage so I am permanently stuck with the debt until I die, which will likely be a few more years. After paying my rent of $350 to the apartment I'm forced to have, I am left with $35 every month to pay for my water bill, food, and any other expenses. As an indentured servant I do not qualify for any kind of assistance. Most of my meals come from a dumpster and most of my water comes from rain water which has many pollutants in it from the smog. Yet I still say my living conditions are better than most, because for one I have access to internet, I have a laptop assigned for my job, and I have a roof that doesn't leak very much, the walls do but that doesn't matter. Yet my fascination is technology, I have an IQ of 178 despite only receiving mediocre high school. And I often stay as up to date as I can on modern technology even knowing I won't be alive long enough to ever own anything special. And yet despite all that, I do not find anything about the video to be offensive, I am logical enough to be realistic and not get offended by something so silly and pointless as somebody laughing about a cheap ass $50 CPU because they believe it's not worth the money and don't see a reason to ever go that cheap, and I fully agree. Now you say I've never lived in a third world country, and your right, I haven't had that priveledge yet. I haven't had that freedom of possibility, knowing that my only limit to what I can achieve with my life, is what I do myself. I am instead forced to forever live a stagnant existence bound by laws that are designed to keep me bound. So you can boast all day long how bad your life is, so can I, so can anybody else. Because at the end of the day, nobody has it any worse than anybody else. To every single person that exists, their life is the worst and best life they know because it's the only life they know. Acting any differently is just ignorantly pretending your better or worse than another. And getting offended over something that doesn't matter is childish, getting offended over something that doesn't matter, on the behalf of people in a lifestyle you don't understand, is utter nonsense. And criticising those who offended you, simply makes you worse than the trash I sift through for food, and just like that trash, after today I very likely will forever forget about your existence. So before you go getting offended and spouting your beliefs while telling your life story to justify your arguments just for the sake of arguing, take into thought that the other person can as well, and sometimes make you look an utter fool and an ass. After all, all I did was ask you a question, about who the bigger fool was.

its because the mb market is full of spinster price gouging fancy gaming component name markup products. ltg did a 'budget' build for holiday last month and for the Ryzen build they picked a Zxxx board instead of a Bxxx series board. The B series Ryzen boards have the same performance as the Z minus the stupid gaming markups and lack of dual GPU which is so 5 years ago unsupported nowadays. You can even go if you never Overclock with an A series board to save even more money or just pay your extra $300 so you can have your RGB branded ROG.
