Should You Buy A BMW G80 M3 or G82 M4 With Carbon Buckets Seats?

One of the biggest questions when ordering a G80 M3 or G82 M4 is, if should you get the carbon bucket seats. In this video, I discuss the buyers remorse of getting the carbon bucket seats. This video should give you a better understanding if you should or should avoid the carbon bucket seats.

100% no regret on the buckets. Getting in and out was difficult the first handful of times but zero issues anymore. I threw on the LCK bolster protectors for peace of mind.

Just my opinion as a first-time owner of a BMW 22 M4 Comp in southern California. My car is not a daily/nightly/or rain driven car. I watched all of your videos and this specific one is exactly what I did at the Dealership. Sit in the Carbon Buckets seats (M3 and M4) and exited the car. For me personally, it was not fun getting in and out of the car and deleted that option. The only mistake I made was not adding /buying the Carbon Ceramic brakes. I'm not a fan of brake dust! Excellent video!

Love the carbon bucket seats in mine. I'm 6'1 & weigh around 215 pounds & I find the seats to be incredibly comfortable once you're in them, been on a couple of 10+ hour road trips & had no issues either. It's also a no-brainer to option them from the factory once you consider the fact that they're very sought after second hand and sell at a minimum double what they cost to option. They also help your car retain more value in the used market, and they give the car's interior this *special* factor that you really only get with exotics. With all this considered, the upsides are just much greater than the downsides for me.

6ft and 210 and seats are comfortable for me. Also resale value is something to think about.

I was on the fence about the carbon seats. I just asked around the dealership, the people who worked there all pretty much said the same thing. They look really good, but it’s not very comfortable for long road trips compared to the comfort seats. I did have the AMG racing seats in my C63S, they aren’t as aggressive as the carbon seats. Although the carbon bucket seats do look really good, I’m happy with my comfort seats with the optional cooled seats. I’ve only had the car for 1000 km though 🇨🇦

Im OCD so bought the bolster covers straight away. The seats are very comfortable once in them, even on long trips and I have back trouble so was very surprised how comfortable they are. Wouldn’t have one without them.

one thing to consider also is resell value, Iv been looking for a good deal on a G80 with carbon buckets in my area (CA) and the price difference between non bucket seat cars and bucket seat G80s is pretty drastic, that's if you can even find one with carbon buckets for sale

Your car is INSANE!!! Holy ^&^%%$. How often do you get stopped and asked about the car, every day!? The buckets are comfortable. I've sat in them. I have the comfort seats and wish I got the carbon seats. Blown away by your car man and I have a G80 6MT. It's like I dont have a G80 compared to your car. Just started watching. I always wonder if people regret it later plus what it’s like to trade in or sell later. I’ll be back to update based on what you say Alright- Before I got my allocation I did sit in some buckets and they were more comfortable than most would think. I’m also 6’2” and about 220 lbs. they were a bit snug and if it was just me (no wife and kid) I might have stretched for them. 3 reasons I didn’t get the buckets: 1. Price. Of course you can sell but I’m not trying to go through that hassle. Adding $5k is a lot added to my budget as I was trying to stay below a number out the door. I optioned other things that I wanted more for sure plus ppf and ceramic coating. 2. I have a toddler. And the amount of times I have to tell her to stop putting her feet on the seats is driving me crazy. There’s room in the back but she can reach the back of the seats with her shoes. 3. My wife would not take the same precautions as me and if someone rides with me, I’d have to explain to everyone how to get in and out! Now, I still get out of my seats the same way. Yes they are comfort seats but the bolster is still stiff and can get worn. I hate the fingerprints I keep putting on my door area to get in and out lol. Overall the comfort seats are still more sporty than any seat I’ve ever had and don’t feel like I’m not being held tight when driving a bit more spirited. I personally think in my area buckets will hurt resale due to the population of folks that can afford this car. They’re older and def more conservative with their cars. Lastly, I’ve already put 10k miles on mine since March and it’s not even my daily 😅. So much fun to drive. I think you really can’t go wrong with the seat choice unless you are too big for the buckets. Great video, Ken and good perspective.

I opted to go with the sport seats in my G80 rather than the carbon bucket sets. The 3 long road trips I did in the car this year confirmed I made the right choice for myself and my passengers. While I agree that the Carbon Buckets look amazing, everyone who has seen my sport seats raved about them as well.

Sat as a passenger on ride alongs on my friend's M2, they weren't bad for the hour or so drive I rode in. Made me paranoid entering and exiting the seats lol. One thing to note if you do track on the carbon buckets, you need to remove the cushion piece behind your head via a torx bit or your driving position isn't going to be as comfortable. Friend had to run to the autoparts store during an event to get the torx bit and ratchet that he now keeps in the car for the events he does.

100% happy I went with the standard buckets. Given how far I have the seat back, and how far out the wheel is, it’s hard for me to get in and out without rubbing the pillar or both. And that’s when I can open the door wide. In my garage it’s so tight it’s even harder. Finally, the lower bolsters are not comfortable. I, 6’2”, 215 but my legs are thick and my hips splay open. My legs don’t stick straight out, they naturally point outward. Doing the seat back and the wheel up helps, but I’m not doing that every time with a manual wheel. Takes me too long to get it back where it’s supposed to be. And my aging father can barely get out of the seats as it is. Glad they are an option. Glad I didn’t check it. No regrets whatsoever.

I'm 6'3 and 230lbs and I fit just fine, but the lower part of the seat does become a pain to deal with for long periods. I have no regrets and I'd probably still do it again, but I do wish BMW made the buckets either without the hump or with a slightly wider seat bottom option like Porsche and MB.

Here's how I see things. How often are those family members in the car and if so there's always the backseat. When my wife was pregnant I had her in the back seat once lol. Also, buy the car for you. This ain't a cheap car and I'm sure you work hard. So you deserve the right spec 🤘🏻

They're more comfortable to sit in but getting in and out are gonna cost you a spinal disc. Thats how I feel about my f82 but the b is too beautiful to let go. Otherwise it be replaced with another b58 until the 2026 g80
