Nice to get the perspective from someone who owns both at the same time as well as has the C6 Z06 modded. Gonna probably be on the minority here, I like the C6 z06 a lot and there is a particular cool factor to having it, lightweight, LS7, etc. But I love the removable roof and interior of the C7 and just some of the chassis improvements. Gotta have the 7M for me. The little things on the C7 make it a better daily IMO while I'd say C6 is better for straight line racing. Great review of the two man! Have had many LS applications over the years, with my current LS vehicles being a 08 Sierra Denali with a 427 on a F1A blower, a 16 CTS-V that's FBO "including a Interchiller as my primary cooling" and a 17 Yukon Denali with a LT4 blower on top of it. In debate myself between the C6 & C7 Z simply due to the fact that my wife wants to drive it as well, so the Automatic us in the lead so far. With that being said though, the LT platform is significantly higher than any of the LS platform to mod. One of the best mods I made to my V was upgrading the tires. Those Michelin Super Sports were horrible at putting the power down "692whp" on Pump 93, and staying straight. So, after upgrading to the Michelin Pilot Sport 4s, it became an entirely different car that can be enjoyed in conjunction with the power mods. Keep the VIDS coming!!

It is real easy. If you want a real brutal car, get the C6 Z07 with the Z07 option. Replace the heads and get a mild cam. 2011 and newer is best. Eff supercharges. C6 is lighter than C7 and better looking. RWP on my 2011 is 550.18. Sounds great.
@jrvettes81382 жыл бұрын
With the right amount of money both can be brutal; my C6Z has about 12k in the motor alone to support boost and at 7lbs makes 850rwp on E85. The car is raw and violent, it is significantly cheaper to mod the LS over the LT for sure. Thanks for the watch!

I started with a C6. But we’re comparing something designed around 2003 with something from around 2012 (talking about when they started designing them). That’s a lot. Go C7 if you can afford it.
@jrvettes81382 жыл бұрын
I would agree while disagreeing at the same time, yes the C7 has better technology behind it but that wasn’t the point of the video. If you can afford it but a Lamborghini or McLaren if you can afford it! This video is for the vette lovers, some are die hard C2 or C3 fans, some are C5, and so on. Just me personally, if I had to sell one tomorrow it would be the C7 with no hesitations. If I could have found a C6 ZR1 with similar milage and price of what my C7Z had, I would have bought that instead. Another huge point of the video is not to feel like your settling with the C6Z to the C7Z. Too many people by what the bank allows them too and then lives paycheck to paycheck, chasing the latest and greatest but don’t have 5k in savings. I’m guessing by your profile pic your military, so am I; everyone has a Hellcat on base but then can’t afford to eat. Both of these are depreciating assets and will never be worth what I paid for them. If it’s money that makes your decision for you, then it should be neither.

The thing with the C6Z is one you can only get a manual which turns some people off (lets face it the majority of Corvette owners) and you NEED to modify it. It's not crazy mods but you need to do the heads and then you get into the "While I'm at it" and that mean cam, headers and now you need a clutch. It's a rabbit hole. If you plan is to mod it, great but not a lot of Corvette owners want to mod a car short of adding chrome. Haha The C7Z you can just keep it 100% stock and never worry about it. Plus it comes in auto which most Corvette owners go for. You might want to take off the top and use some rubber restorer on your weather strips. Thats a common reason for creaking. My C7 doesn't ratther or creak like that.
@jrvettes8138 Жыл бұрын
I think it depends on the age demographics of who is turned of by an auto. Let’s face it, the vette regardless of model has a stereotype type as an old man car. I would say those vette owners are turned off by an manual. Then you have the newest generation of drivers that probably can’t drive a manual….. 505hp is plenty enough for most and yes your right with the rabbit whole of mods. I want a car that scares me when I think I have it figured out and that’s my C6Z. Thanks for the perspective and taking time to comment!

Looking at these at the end of the video, I just want the camera to stay on the C6 the entire time!!! Coming off the C5, it seems the Corvette styling reached it's pinnacle. As much as I like advances in technology and refinement, the C6 just has that timeless Vette look that they have carried for so many decades, harkens back to my favorite 68-72 C3. And I love the visceral feel of the N/A 427 torque (also a tip of the hat to the C3). C7 refinement aside, I just want my car to go fast, be fun to drive, and look bada$$. The C6Z is the apex. Not sure what the designers were doing (other than just being a younger generation and I'm closing in on 50), but I don't believe the C7 looks are going to age well... I don't like my car to be confused if it's an Autobot or Decepticon. It seems that GM was tasked with coming up with a look for a Camaro 15 years ago that complimented a Hasbro movie, and have stayed on that track ever since. Way too busy with unnecessary angles and accessories. The beauty is in the simplicity. And now with the C8, I can only hope that there is a return to what this car was for the first 60+ years. It's a Chevy, not a supercar.

I think a few more years need to go by for it to have the nostalgia look like the C2 and early stingrays. The C6Z by itself looks timeless than next to a C7 it shows it’s age. In another 5-10 years I think it will like a true timeless classic. I had a 98 Z51 M6 with a Magnuson SC, awesome. Then a 07 Ron Fellows. Liked having the 427. But driving it left a lot to be desired. C6 has less character of a Corvette than the 98. Health forced me to trade. Tried the SS Sedan, even with LSA SC it's a 4 Dr Sedan! Found a gem 2014 Z51, 3LT, A6, 5,000 miles. Not perfect, but beats the V6 Z06 for drivability. And regains some Corvette character. Mag Shocks like the SS are must have. A6 is slow but in Drive on WOT is a hoot. Did I wish my C7 Z51 was a C7 Z06? YES! But now the money gap is just too wide. I think even a C8 will remain unobtainable for me in retirement. Looking to get 600 HP from the LT1 and I would be fine. The C7 Z51 drives better than any Vette I have owned. It tends to take me back to 1966, i had a 64 Vert, white on white red dash and carpet, 327 365 HP, Muncie and a AM FM radio 3.73 gear no other options. The transition from torque to horsepower was so in your face. Whaaaaaa! This LT1 with mild tune now can hold its head up high! Just needs a tad more power and i would ready to it till I dead. I failed to mention the Valve guide issue on C6 Z07, I had extended warranty and took oil samples to Blackstone and they found high titanium at 22,000 miles. I had to pay to get the heads pulled to prove to GM the guides were shot and valves rattling loose. Then I had to pay to pull the pan and remove roller bearing from the Rocker Arms. Replaced the Rocker bearings my own money, GM paid for new heads and valves. Engine was not hurt, But Be aware, check the oil via Black stone every oil change.

Agree on visibility, you must be vigilant changing lanes in the C7, I wish it had BLIS like on my Wife's Volvo where sensors out in the corners of the bumper light up LEDs near the side mirror to ease that issue. On the creaks I found My 2014 to remain very tight, but when I test drove a pair of 2015 C7 I learned it was determined more the driver treatment. A white Z51 with 50,000 miles creaked and groaned just leaving the parking lot. Then then I drive a Silver Z51 Blue Leather and 36,000 miles, Not one creak or groan and the LT1 pulled hard, shifted fast and drove like a new car. The C7 I choose is a 2104 A6, sad, but 5,000 miles the car looks brand new. Now with 10,000 miles of smiles It still looks and drives like brand new. Best Vette Ever!

I’ve always heard the C4 is difficult to work on, specifically changing the spark plugs. I am also a far on the C4 but very specific about the combo I want, hoping to add the blue grand sport to the collection one day.

What about a C7 Z06 vs a C6 ZR1? Which one would you prefer and why?
@jrvettes81382 жыл бұрын
I’ve never driven or even rode in a C6ZR1, but of the two which I looked at both when I bought my C7Z, I bought the C7Z. I raced a modded C6 ZR1 in my C6Z and beat it pretty decently, but the ZR1 is obviously more rare.

But would you buy a c6 zr1 or a c7 zo6 and would you get the c7 in a manual if you could do it over again
@jrvettes81382 жыл бұрын
It was between the ZR1 and the C7Z when I bought it and I went with the C7. The only way I would get a C7Z in a manual is if it was low milage and came with some kind of warranty. I had to change the clutch in my C6Z twice (long story) and with labor, a McLeod RXT, slave, and speed bleeder it was just shy of 4k. I’m not trying to ever do that again!!! I bought the C7Z as a commuter on my way to and from work (about a 40min drive one way) and really enjoy the A8. These are just my reasons and probably don’t give too much insight over all but…. Thank for watching

Stock for stock I won’t argue with that, a modded C6Z will pull on a C7Z straight line or on a track. Just depends on what you want out of the car, if you just want to look at them at keep the miles as close to zero as possible C7Z. Thanks for watching

is the c7 comfortable 🤔
@jrvettes81382 жыл бұрын
That depends on your interpretation of comfortable; it is an extremely stiff ridged platform, so it’s as advertised. My C6Z is a smoother ride but also doesn’t have mag ride where as my C7Z does; I contribute a lot of the difference between the two to this. If you want luxury car smoothness don’t get a C7 for sure or if you do take off the run flats immediately! The rigidity of the C7 give you confidence over what I get in the C6; I hate to not give you a black or white answer but it all depends on what you define as comfortable and what you want to do with the car.
