Sadly, the expensive replicas are often now of a higher quality than the real bags. As to ill mannered or eye rolling sales assistants, their behaviour is designed to intimidate, and embarass, with a view to dismissing your complaint. Do not stand for their nonsense. Challenge them immediately, look for the store manager, and the name and contact details of their general manager. Ensure you get the SA's full names, or identifying numbers. When you start making these demands, and object to their behaviour, they quickly realise the game is up, and change their attitude. Be firm, speak calmly, do NOT back down.

I have never dealt with any of this before, but if I were dropping $5000+ at a store, I would NOT accept eye rolling from the SA. I would call them out on it. If I’m paying that much, they better be treating me like a queen while I’m in their store.

I completely agree with the point you made about Chanel SA’s being snobby when you bring in a defected handbag. I was in this situation and they said it was “normal” or “there’s nothing wrong with it”. Its disappointing how the first initial buying of the handbag they are very kind to you, but once you make a return they treat you differently. I now purchase my Chanel handbags preloved. I’d rather not deal with their customer service 😐

Wow! I agree with every single point. Recently, I bought a chanel rectangular mini from 20c and it was my very first chanel purchase. I was thinking it was my dream bag but when I inspected it at home... saw 2 deflated quilts on the back towards the left bottom corner. When I sent pictures to my SA she said it’s normal, stuff the bag, they’re all like that. I still went in store and had to ask for the manager and they were trying to get me to send it to repair and it was a new unused bag! Then after going back n forth they offered an exchange. The manager however was like we have a strict 30 day return policy etc even though clearoy I had reached out to my SA earlier and they were not accepting the quality issue. So... you’re not alone in your experience. Thanks for sharing

I am glad I got to watch this morning... a great reminder ... I need to go exchange my flap... or go on a “hunt” for the perfect one for me. Do you know if Chanel is changing the gold tone hardware? I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a classic flap bag in small with gold hardware and the description says the hardware is “pale gold”. I love the yellow gold hardware look so I’m worried the pale gold hardware is not going to be the same. Have you seen a classic flap bag with the new gold tone hardware? If yes, that are your thoughts?

I haven’t heard about Chanel changing the gold hardware. There are typically two types of gold hardware - the bright yellow gold (although not as bright or yellow as the 24k plated hardware from years ago) and the lighter “champagne” gold hardware which many people like as it mixes well with both gold and silver jewelry. Perhaps they’re calling the lighter gold “pale” now?

I just got one at $6500 bc there's price increases but there's minor scratches inside and where the CC is... but it was the last one in the store and I expect the bag to get some scratches with use anyway... I think I will keep it bc the SA who helped us was really lovely

I’ve been a Chanel collector for years and I agree about the quality issues. My first caviar Jumbo with GHW was perfect. The Caviar was puffy and had a sheen. The leather was seamless through the chain straps. My newer bags have been disappointing and I’ve returned two. I’ve had better success with my purchases from Metiers collection (croc embossed) and with my Medium Vanity. I’m awaiting a medium black caviar. If it’s not perfect, it will be returned. I asked the SA to check for me in the shop as they hv more professional eyes! When I got home on closer inspection I found a problems with stitching v minor but still. The main point I want to thank u for is the air pocket inside the lining! I hv exact same problem, It looked creased on one side! So disappointed. I m taking it back tomorrow for an exchange! Well I bought one last week from Neiman Marcus which is an hour and half drive just one way. When I got home and inspected the bag, the quilting pattern did not align properly with the left flap when closed. So even the distance from the bottom of the bag to the bottom of the flap was higher on the left side than the right side which made the bag look crooked. Everything else about the bag was fine. However, I wanted to exchange for a better one since it is crazy amount of money that I am spending. So they called yesterday saying another bag had come to the store that is brand new in the box. So, I went in today driving again 3 more hours and this time there was a white scuff on the stitching on the right side of the bag. It was not a residue from plastic or glue or anything and something that looked permanent. It also had bubble inside the bag like yours in the video. When I asked if I can just see one more brand new bag out of the box, the SA just refused saying that’s the store policy to not let customers open more than one new bag from the box. I even joked around that I could return it and come back later as a new customer. It was so obvious that I was not satisfied with either bag and I just wanted to be happy with my huge purchase but the SA was not understanding at all. Then they said that I could look at one more bag that has already been opened and touched and possibly a return. When I saw that one, it looked older and it had 26 serial number compared to the others that were 29 serial number. I told her that I’ll just walk around the mall and think about it some more. Later, I decided to just return it. I was so unhappy about how unaccommodating they were about their customer’s satisfaction. :( I will have to travel to another state next month for a personal reason but they do have a Chanel boutique there. I hope that they have better quality ones and at least let me compare a few bags before I can purchase one that I am most happy with. I just want to purchase one that I love 100%! Why is it so difficult?! 😢

Chloe What!??? I never heard of a policy limiting customers from seeing more bags. Wow, I’m so disappointed to hear about your experience. You did the right thing returning it. Either wait till you find one with excellent craftsmanship or consider going vintage. I’m very happy with my vintage classic flap and still haven’t found a new one without issues. It’s such a shame. And my heart does sing thinking about owning my dream bag! I woke up super early and made my husband get up early too! I was so surprised about their policy since I compare bags all the time at Louis Vuitton or any other store before purchasing the best one. And I’ve always been treated extremely well as a customer. Yeah the bad quality with the amount one has to pay is really crazy. With that amount, i can buy a brand new local brand car here or a second hand entry level Honda Jazz. Is my dream bag but when i think of the price, i really can't stomach it with that type of quality and each time i have to baby it when i bring it out. I only had good service in one store and she couldn’t do enough for me, but unfortunately it was out of stock. Rue Cambon never bothered to check stock, this other store in Paris did. Anita Marie Returned it! The SA took one look at the loose lining and said, “Ooohhh okay” and immediately took it back. She asked if I’d like to see another one or take a break and think about it. I chose the latter, taking a break from the boutiques. I do kind of feel bad for the SAs bc it seems like a lot of ppl return the classics due to flaws and defects. She didn’t seem surprised at all. Nor did she offer an apology. I guess it’s a common problem these days. 🤷‍♀️ Thanks for sticking with me through my saga... hoping to share a happy ending to the story soon!! 😊

If only I saw this video 12 years ago 😂. Tbh, I really think I have to own it to know this is not for me bc it is such a popular bag and pushed by the lux community. My friend is the one who made me buy it. She told me if you are going to get into Chanel, you should buy the classic flap bc it never goes out of style and prices go up all the time. All very true but this bag never made my heart sing. At first I thought it was the color black and it's popularity even though I love black, but later I realized it's also the price, size, strap, and my lifestyle. I'm not the most trendy, but I walk the line where I want my bag to be in style but last me years to come and not go out of style quickly. The minis and coco handles work perfectly for me. Plus the top reason why I love Chanel so much is their marketing strategy and how unique and special they makes me feel. Most bags (except the black classic flap) in that particular style-color-leather-hardware are not available in the store unless they just came out that season. It creates an urge to grab it while you can if you love it. I waited for bags I missed in preloved mkt and it's a pain, plus popular ones can sell above retail. Sorry for the long comment. XO

Becky Panda The minis are great!! Especially as they work well crossbody! I think you just have to stick to the ones that really work for you. I still love the classic flap 💕 just not as an everyday bag. For me, it’s a special occasion bag when I want to feel a bit more dressy. I agree the minis are much more practical for daily use! I’ve sold and bought with them and they’re great. Very accurate photos and detailed descriptions, plus generous return policy. Also, I heard from a few different ppl that they quote the same as brick and mortar consignment stores. Hope this helps!! 😘

More Luxe Hmm, there is a dent where my thumb was? 🤨 Wow, Chanel quality really is declining if my thumb can dent it from handling. And no, they should not be reselling this bag to another person until it is repaired bc the lining is bubbled with air pockets as you can see in the video. I actually made the video to hopefully help others avoid buying a bag like this. If Chanel just puts this back in the stock room and sells it to another customer, that’s an even bigger problem in my mind. I just returned it this morning and the SA’s response was “Ohhh okay” as soon as she saw the lining. It’s not supposed to look like that, in case you didn’t know. I have to say, after starting this channel, you are the first, the one and only person, to leave a poor attitude, snarky comment. Everyone else has been so lovely!!! All the best to you ! 💋

On the other hand, whenI text my SA at Louis Vuitton, she responds right away, so huge difference in service. When the Chanel SA saw the bubbled lining in the bag, she responded with, "oohhh okay" and took it back immediately. She didn't seem surprised at all and there was no apology or explanation. I got the sense that she's used to clients returning bags with poor quality. I just hope she doesn't put the bag back in the stock room to sell to another person. That would be bad. As for my preloved lambskin- I'm smitten!!! Thanks again dear!

@@hellocatwalkcity That is terrible! Please complain about the service to a manager. That is unacceptable. So happy u returned the bag sweetie. Yes she will put it back on shelf. Sad to say..they resold my friend's warped Boy bag. Crazy huh..it's a shame to resell a defective bag. I will only purchase preloved from now on. Thanks dear for the follow-up.

Don’t forget the position of the sales agent - they are in commission and majority will kiss _ sS because when we buy we are helping them get commission ($$$) I know because I was a sales agent and believe me the women are so bad - they act and look sweet but they are after one thing, THEIR COMMISSION. When you think that your a customer and should get assistance because when we purchase we are helping the department store to continue with running the business. Sales agents for most of them, you and I are just a number and a bonus to their paycheck. When I shop FYI, I don’t care who it is but if I suspect one is after commission and kissing up to me, I will drop the purchase ....... I walk away into another area and this is WHAT many clients don’t know - once you walk in to a high end Department store you could have anyone assist you. For instance if you’re buying perfume and you are happy with that salesperson you could have them assist you ANYWHERE in any place of the store. I’m very sensitive of who’s up my a_ _ for a commission and are playing the nice game ...... I don’t need people like that!!! I want a person to assist me because they care of their job, they work it to be happy, a natural smile and giving to my needs! After all, we make money to spend it with no dramA!!!

People suck nowadays. So focused on being gay rather than making quality triple checked products. Customer service down the drain. No traditions no values. Everyone for themselves and tryna be famous for no reason. That’s why things aren’t as good quality anymore. Just sad. But charging ridiculous prices for mistakes. Smh

Over rated over priced and not worth the headache. Chanel really is laughing all the way to the bank by selling a piece of leather with many flaws at a horrendously high price with really poor customer service. ‘Here you go butch, roll your ugly ill mannered eyes at me and I am dumb enough to hand over $11,000 for a piece of leather cause I am dumb enough to let you intimidate me and insecure enough to need to buy this to prove myself’. Yes here where I am a medium Chanel flap is about $11,000.
