This was a requested video on what to look for when buying a Chanel classic flap bag!
After returning two new Chanel classic flaps to the boutiques recently (sadly, due to quality issues and poor craftsmanship) I have become quite meticulous in inspecting Chanel classics!!

I flushed toilets too and turned on faucets... when my husband and I went house hunting... This is such an informative video, really good info especially for newbies like me! Thanks for sharing. I dread dealing with Chanel SAs. Almost all of them are really rude and can’t be bothered 🙄. The worst customer service compared to other luxury brand SAs in my humble opinion... anyway love your vids!!

Hi!!! I wish I saw this before I purchased mine. The day I got mine it was brand new I saw my SA unboxing it... I didn't even inspect it thinking I thought cus it was brand new like that it would be perfect. Then when I got home and unboxed it my front flap is a little crooked and I also noticed 2 dimples on both front bottom edges of the bag... its not as puffy. I called my SA, she said its because these bags are handmade... but for $6200 what I paid with tax I need it to be as close to perfect. I am going to exchange mine next week hopefully they have better batch... maybe considering made in FRANCE not ITALY.

You did a great job with what to look for when purchasing a new Chanel flap. 👍🏻 You would think it would all be common sense, and I think some are; however when you are in the boutique and you feel you found your dream bag, you can get caught up in the moment and not pay attention to the details. The thought of cutting off the tag after you get home and THEN discovering what you missed is a nightmare. At that point you wont be able to return to get a refund, and to remedy the issue, you would have to turn it in for repair. Who wants to turn in their brand new bag for a repair!? 😱😭 I mentioned to you before I purchased a vintage Chanel small double flap (circa 1990s) that is about 30 yrs old. Wow, I'm taken back that I purchased a 30 yr old bag for $2,400. Lol. Is that too old?lol. You said I got a great price, which makes me feel better. 🥰🤓 Lol. I would like to hear your opinion if you feel I made good decision on investing in a 30 yr old bag vs a 20 yr old bag or maybe I should have looked for a younger vintage doubleflap bag? 🤔 Do you know what the going price is for a 30 yr old Chanel small quilted double flap that is in very good condition? The ONLY thing that bothers me about the bag I purchased is that the black lambskin is not jet black and there is no real sheen to it unless I keep coating it with the Kiwi Express Shine (silicone base). Is that bad for the bag if used long term? My bag looks better after using the Kiwi and it still feels soft. Is there anything that you can think of that I can put on the bag to make the black a deeper black other then dye? If I could get a nice sheen that STAYS on for a long time (vs putting something on it every other day) I would be satisfied with that. Is it common for lambskin to have black dye come off the leather? That is happening to mine. The leather still looks the same color. I just know the color is lifting because I see it on the polishing cloth. Looking forward to your input!♥️🥰😁

debbie h If I were you, I would not keep applying more product and instead see how the leather looks after some use. The natural oils from your hands may bring back the luster of the leather over time. (Also don’t forget the hair dryer trick I mentioned in my other video! 😉) Good luck dear!! 🍀

Another authenticity tip is to measure the distance between the CCs on the inside. The space between each CC and the empty should should be the exact same distance. Also should be 10 to 11 stitches between each diamond. If you have a older version (I have a "0" series 1984-1986, look for Flox buttons. "0" series bags do not come with quilting on the bottom or sides. Since mine is GHW, the Made in France is embossed on the opposite side of the inside pocket...another thing to look for in fakes.

I saw some on Fashionphile older series 2 or 3 the pic doesn’t show made in france in opposite pic. Maybe Fashionphile didn’t take the pic or it rubbed away with time?

thanks for the details! I just got one preloved and tried to authenticate myself as well. All matches but for yours, I thought lambskin bags have “made in” logo on the opposite side of the chanel logo. It should not be below the chanel. Only calf skin leathers have the made in france marked right below the chanel logo.

Hi! You should be able to tell by the series number - based on the first digit, or first two digits. If you want to tell me the numbers, I can tell you the years!

I would totally return that bag too. They’re lame for not giving you a credit to fix this. When they relist this online they better point out the alteration and the color difference of the strap, etc. if they don’t point it out we should all email Fashionphile and complain about hiding this information from customers.
