@@aurigold I've owned 2 of them! Great rides. Zero inherent issues. Research the state your car came from. I've had to replace my water pump on my current 2011 from Ohio state. That's because I live in Wisconsin and the weather here is hell on Any vehicles heating and cooling. Our cars are awesome! They have auxiliary oil return lines, auxiliary trans cooler, upgraded cooling system, heavy duty brakes and suspension(pursuit suspension makes the car sit higher than civilian RT, keep in mind if you upgrade wheels Low Profile tires look Dwarfed and retarded with WAY too much space in the wheel wells). I run 22" vipers wrapped in Nittos. I have the 18" Fumagalis(the black steel cop wheels) wrapped in Blizzaks on right now for the winter. If you upgrade wheels go with something Forged or Aluminum. No Chrome or Cast. Shit is too heavy. Unsprung weight is the enemy of horsepower. These cars are already Heavy fat girls, so keep as much weight off as possible. Get yourself a Tazer, it's the Best DIY tuning module on the market. ***ALSO, DO use your auto-stick transmission function!!*** I know its kinda funky as it's on the wheel mounted shift lever, BUT.. the Cylinder Deactivation feature they are equipped with can cause timing and valve issues in some cars. The cops that drove these cars before us Never used the Manual Shifting! Why Would they?!...But our cars Need to fire all 8 Cylinders Equally to remain healthy, you don't want 2 Cylinders getting gunked up with more carbon than normal from less use than the rest of the cylinders from being deactivated all the time, it's not Mandatory or a Necessity its just a good thing to do to keep the motor balanced and lessen the likelihood of valve seat failure, so USE that Manual shifting, it's Fun as hell Anyway. I paid 8k for my first one, with 98k miles it came from Michigan state, Gorgeous Duluth Blue. Sold it for $6800 with 127k miles to a very happy buyer. I paid $6700 for my current 2011, with 89k miles on it. Kickin Ass for less Cash! ✌ Have to expound a lil I know this a freakin BOOK, but the hemi drives as a normal v8 when you accelerate and then drops 4 cylinders when you release the pedal at cruising speed and drops down to 4 cylinders, I forget that sometimes it drops you down to a 4 banger to conserve fuel. That's when your little Eco "I" icon pops on to let you know your being economical. But if you're like me and want your engine balanced and happy, use that manual at least every blue moon and have a spirited cruise to keep that dope 345 Hemi nice and balanced. Thanks for your patience if you read all this!

Got you beat by a little though I have to say mine is only the V6 but OMG what a car! Full PD package from Miami. Purchased on January 17, 2020 at a PD auction and though it is only a 2007. It only has 98,000 on it and they left everything but the light bar and radios in it. My price out the door with sales tax, and auction fee was $1200. We have a volunteer Fire Department here in Saint Petersburg Florida and it is going to be a killer chiefs' (me) car. It was clearly an under cover car since it is all black and blacked out windows. Who ever had this car assigned to them clearly took care of it. We have only had to replace the rear tires this week because when I took it for a service we found that someone had put in enough nails into the tires that it should have NEVER made it down the road and home. By the way if you have not checked it out yet your speedometer says on it that it is certified and calibrated...it is. And the V6 goes up to 160 mph...it does. Lit it up over the weekend and made a trial Fire Department run down the freeway. Hang on though with that police package it hunkers down and loves to run flat out on the freeway. Good luck with it and enjoy

What is not always talked about is the subconscious aspect of why people purchase these cars. Some of it is a true love for the make and model, the reliability of the police package. Then there is the love of the impersonators who drive these and end up being arrested. These cars make you a potential target or even better, "Are you a cop?" In Texas you can buy these like your model so as long no emergency lights, and siren. People need to understand in my opinion, you buy one of these, expect some attention; good and bad. My two cents as an LEO in Texas. But who also loves for the make and model.

@DirtyDanMunicipalMan2 жыл бұрын
I have another Video that talks about that. A nearby city would have their cars running almost 24/7. They’d leave the cars running and just hand it off to the next cop on shift. Cars were only shut off for service.

Is there any way to put a stock center console in these? I notice they all have the rails for their equipment.
@DirtyDanMunicipalMan5 жыл бұрын
Depressed Sauce You can retrofit the civilian center console into these but you’ll have a hole where the console shift would be. Mopar actually makes a shifter delete plate for the civilian center console to fill the hole.
@davidvincent10934 жыл бұрын
My 2007 from Miami actually cam with the center console in the back seat so I could reinstall it if I wanted. What I love about mine is that the sifter IS ON THE COLUMN and not the floor so I have lots of room to work with for my conversion to a Fire Department cruiser for our Chief (oh yea me!)

I test drove several stock and police crown vic's, camero's, mustang's, then I got into a Charger R/T. IMHO the Charger R/T blows them all away in every aspect. I now own a 2012 R/T kevinspage.com/images/charger.jpg Yeah its heavy but its fast. Ride quality, braking, safety and handling far above the others. That's why law and government agency's choose it for their fleet cars.

Do the Dodge police units keep track of idle hours like the Ford ones? I know Ford equates every idle hour with 31 miles of driving.

@DirtyDanMunicipalMan3 жыл бұрын
I got them from ebay. Just make sure to measure the holes in the car. I had a few 3/8 size NMO holes and 2 big 1 1/8 holes to fill so I needed 2 different plug sizes. Had all the plugs since 2017 and have never had any issues with leaks.

No. You should not. Speaking from experience. These cars sit idle for more time than they are driving. A 78k mile car is ab 150-160k mile motor with idle hours. Ready to go any minute. Owner mine (77k when bought, 78k now 19 days later with a blown motor.)

I love my 2014 police charger it’s a old state trooper from Florida I bought it with 119,000 miles for 5800 had it for bout 3 years now when I bought it they had just started selling the state trooper chargers it has the 5.7 in it 16 spark plugs, since I’ve owned it I’ve had to change rack and pinion radiator and fans, I repainted it back black increase da tint windows to where it looks like the windows was painted black lol I call her dark knight or the punisher frank castle lol only thing is it’s expensive to maintain parts are not cheap everything really cost double to what’s da factory chargers cost but it’ll prolly last forever depending on how u take care of it, I’ve seen chargers have 1 million miles put on them so they were made to last #HemiLife

There is a michigan state trooper charger with the 5.7 hemi, 2013 and 96k miles for $5500 it has alot of plugs. There is ohio state trooper car 5.7 hemi, 2012 and 118k miles and no plugs and center council. Which would be a better buy?
@DirtyDanMunicipalMan5 жыл бұрын
Mark Herc that’s hard to say. I’d look into both cars closely. I know that Ohio State police cars are mostly take home cars and are well kept, not sure about the MSP cars, but worth looking into. Pool cars are beat on harder then a take home car assigned to a single officer. All I can say is check them both out very closely, see what one is best mechanically and make your decision then.

I hear from many dodge owners about engine knock, most of the time it needs engine re-build, do you have comment about this issue?
@DirtyDanMunicipalMan6 жыл бұрын
Ron Paker Perhaps you mean the famous Hemi tick? From what I’ve read the Hemi tick is more of an annoyance then an actual mechanical issue. For the most part the Hemis are good motors.

Hey question I have the same car what is the random button inside the glove box for? Been trying to look it up but haven't found anything lol
@DirtyDanMunicipalMan5 жыл бұрын
Bar Bank if it’s a cop car, there is a good chance that the switch is aftermarket. Which if it is it could literally be for anything. more than likely it could be a fuel pump shut off, so if the cops were parked the car they could hit the switch so somebody couldn’t steal it. That’s just a guess it could literally be anything. Mine does not have any kind of button there.

Living in Ohio I can tell you these cars are a dime a dozen. Very good. Very well built. They run between 6-8k dollars and are better taken care of than most individual owned or dealer used cars. Only downside is the holes all over and the fact that they are on and at idle for 8 hours a day. The miles don't touch how many hours the cars run. They are work horses and usually high miles. But imagine buying the same car at a dealership. 5.7L V8 hemi with upgraded suspension, higher output alternator, and larger radiator components,. You would pay 30-40k. If you have the same year charger and got it at a dealership, sorry but you're an idiot for not just buying a used police package

Oh and btw alot of them are AWD and have a flashed ECU.

GodSpeed Spot on sir. This one was purchased in Ohio and brought back to NY by the former owner and it’s been an exceptional car. Most of my cars have been former police cars just because they’re typically well built and rugged cars.
