For viewers in Asia: IF your laptop needs to be replaced like mine (MSI GE60, 7 or 8 years?) which is now struggling. You can either buy a new SSD for it to hold a little bit more OR (If you don't want to wait) update your laptop now. Yeah, Intel and AMD announced it in CES in January, but even then when will it release in your country? NOBODY KNOWS! Even in my country, new Legion5 just popped up around end of July Tight on money but need it now? Buy last gen. Tight on money but can wait? Wait for new one to be released then QUICKLY buy the last gen before the new one. The key is BUY AT THE RIGHT TIME, DO NOT HOPE FOR A BIGGER DISCOUNT WHEN YOU ALREADY HAVE ONE IN FRONT OF YOU. Especially if you live in Asia

Buying "current" gen right at the end of its shelf life as its gonna be replaced by next gen is the best time to buy. You're still getting the best of RIGHT NOW, and you wont be spending a fortune for next gen. Obviously if youre one of those people who need everything on the cutting age and money is no object, go for it. But yeah, tech will keep on advancing. I just bought a 3080ti less than a month ago (upgraded from a 2060) and reddit was calling me stupid cuz "ThE 4060 iS gOnNA bE sO mUcH bEtTeR". Lol okay? And its gonna be like $300 more and bots and scalpers are gonna make it all insane again. All the 3000 gpus are in stock right now, and the lowest price theyve ever been. A 3080ti will be able to comfortably run any game that comes out in 2023 on high settings and probably still will be fine for any 2024 game at medium settings.

If you can play games bow on high settings comfortable them you will play on high setting too the year afther just witness fps. But we need 60fps. Here's a piece of advice from me.. 2021: I saved up & waited to buy Legion 5i Pro which costs so much money back then. It was launched back in the early Half of the year and when I've finally gathered enough money by the Sept/Oct of 2021, rumors about 2022 Legion 5i Pro using the next gen of Intel circulated.. Therefore, I decided to stop myself from purchasing it and waited till 2022. 2022: After a long waiting for Legion 5i Pro launching, it finally came out right around April or May. But the problem is, their initial launching price is astronomical and totally outnumbered last year's model. Not to mention that the price for 2021 model significantly drops which enticed me yet again to just go for last year model but I don't.. And after sometime, I finally decided to buy few weeks ago after the price went down a bit. Moral of the story: I could go buy 2021 model with cheaper price but I will be very likely to feel regret because I will be using that 2yrs older model by the time we're in 2023.. Or I could also hold myself back and purchase 2023 model by around Sept/Oct only to be enticed yet again by 2024 model. Or just buy this year model and stop this cycle of regret.. Just stop wasting your time thinking of buying latest model.. A better version will always come out every year and you need to make amend with yourself.. It's useless to keep on waiting because by the time you buy it, next year model will be right around the corner 🤦🏻♂️

I have the G14 2020 and I was actually waiting for the new 2022 model but sadly the GPU performance is kind of lacking. The 6800S is barely better than the 3060 in the 2021 model and that's probably just because of TDP increase (105 vs 80W). Also I saw people flashing the VGA BIOS on the 3060 to higher TDP (90W from the M16 I think) and with a cooling pad and/or a lower TDP on the CPU they got a good bump in performance in games. I really like the G14 size since I can game decently on it while being pretty portable. Will probably wait now for the next model to come out (hopefully not at an inflated price like the 2022 model).

What people need to understand is for laptops, the uplift comes only thanks to a better performance per watt increase. You can't increase the cooling capacity on a small area like you could by building a 3 slot 3090. For example, for zen 4, AMD is stating a staggering 60% performance per watt at 65w and possibly even more at lower watts, it means these chips will be killers when they come to laptops. But nvidia didn't comment on any performance per watt increase yet. The 30 series was way faster than the 20/16 series, but on the laptops, it was not as simple as on the desktop. Also, nvidia is here to make money, they will produce and sell the top end first, unless demand is very low, the midrange and lowend will release in at least one year from now and the laptop entry level at least one year and a half.

@@doomscyte1087 I'm not super tight on budget and I bought this machine because it still plays every game completely maxed out at 1080p without an issue? Is it worth it to spend $1300 on a 3060 machine when you still get DLSS support on RTX 2000 series GPUs? In my opinion, not really. :P That's my point. I still get 3060-performance and all the features on the very machine I wanted to buy from two years prior at half the price *NEW.* Still more than capable AND any issues that existed have been ironed out. Go look up Jarrod's Tech and see all the videos regarding problems with software and glitches with new laptops. That shit tends to take 3-6 months to resolve in my experience, which kills any sense of value buying the new thing. Also $1300 was the entry point for a budget configuration with a 3060. $900 was the budget for a top-spec 2070 machine with double the RAM, twice the storage, way better build quality and a vastly superior cooling system and display.
