I feel like living in the USA fixes the cons about fuel and size but then creates a con of finding someone competent here to maintain it. Is a dream car, stared at car magazine stories about them when I was a kid. A guy who lived near me was a member of the North Texas Jaguar club and I’d ride my bike to his house to look at the cars in the driveway and garage (had something like 5-6 XJs 😂

My mechanic is ex Mercedes, and he never had problems maintaining my X308. Just make sure U know a decent garage, before buying it. The X308 Supercharged is even fitted with a MB 5G-Tronic transmission.. Also, the Supercharged have no Variable Valves, making them more dependable. The X300/X308 series is the Lowest XJ ever made, with a Height of just 1,31M. So not just unique among other Super Sedan brands, but also for XJ standards. And no other Super Sedan brand offers the option of manual gear, that Jaguar has with that J-Gate. Greetings!

@@skelejp9982 that gives me some more confidence since I’m a Mercedes loyalist. The X308 is probably new enough there’s someone near me who might be ok. Worst case is a 30mi tow to Dallas.

@@skelejp9982 How's your experience with the X308? It's such a rare car, but the few owners I have known were extremely satisfied with the reliability and found it more comfortable than modern luxury sedans.
@skelejp9982 Жыл бұрын
@@squre98 After owing an X308 Supercharged Daimler (called Vanden Plas in the US) for 4 years, I consider the X308 pretty reliable, specially the engine, but sensors wear out after 20+ years and so do other things like for example the Radiator. Stabilizers and ball bearings wear faster on these cars, because of roundabouts and speed bumps. Being at 290K (bought the car with 260K) 2 ignition coils/ all sparks were replaced Rear axle connection had to be replaced new battery replaced door lock Had the Transmission flushed, because I bought it without proper history, my mechanic recommended it. The Transmission needs maintenance every 60.000Km. The X300/X305 suffers less from electronic gremlins, that is fact. Because they don't have so many sensors. But I like how the X308 offers more modern luxury, and also being faster, while driving better with CATS suspension. All in all, I never regretted buying it. I started using the J-Gate after 2 years, and that really boosts the driving experience. Im a Hip Hop fan , but in my XJ, I can really enjoy listening to Chopin...that's the effect this car has. Very calming, while being able to accelerate faster than a standard 911. A psychotic mix of Luxury and Muscle car power... I often notice, most kids go wild when they see the car passing by, and most adults love it. Remember, when FORD took over Jaguar, they did everything they could, to make Jaguar super reliable. And that really shows in the X308, after all these years, the car has only a few issues. Like electronic Mirror setting not working anymore, due to open window & rain I guess, and a small backlight malfunction in my dashboard. Most stuff can be replaced with secondhand. I use a Nulaxy FM Radiotransmitter to pair Mobile/Media, works great for less than 20$. And U can also see the car's Voltage! Greetings!

I’ve always wanted an old jag, love that you went and grabbed one! Would be really interesting to hear how it compares to a 7 series of the same age…

We used to have an XJ6 (X350) N15BLR, it was a brilliant car, that made you feel special. Reason for getting rid of it was due to the German Diesel Particulate Filter being blocked again! And an AA recommended garage telling us that it wasn't worth fixing. Funny the gentleman who purchased the car fixed it and when I last looked, it was still on the road. Yes, it does cost a fair bit to run, but the Ford V6 diesel engine was superb, and the quality of the build, sublime. I recommend E & E of Milton Keynes, they know their Jaguars. Hope you get better. All the best.

@@MattsMotors15no worries you’re engaging to listen too which talking to a camera is a tough skill but an improvement for the production side you should try a multi camera set-up.. put a couple of cameras around the interior and even stick one on the outside. It would drastically improve the visuals and overall engagement. ❤️

Hmm had a wee laugh to myself when you said about not using it as a daily, due to the fuel economy and size. I have owned my Daimler version for almost 13 yrs, in that time I have daily driven it including delivering pizzas with it lol. I by no means have money, but the advantage is mine is LPG converted. Yes parking can be awkward in car parks, you park as far forward as possible and the back still sticks out 3 foot lol. Is yours the LWB? I hope you don't think I am being disrespectful about what you said,, I am not meaning too. I tend to agree on most of what you say, and certainly recommend them. This is the first video of yours I have seen, sorry to read you have had some not so good MRI results. Will pray for your health and my thoughts are with you.

I'm driving a Jag xj8 4.0 since a year now. Came from 24 years of older BMWs. The Jag is a great cool car, but I have to say, it's not a real competitor for a 7 series qualitywise. Still love it 😃

I don't think a Jaguar owner is in the position to make jokes about poor quality of interior parts inherited form Ford. (I have rather personal experience with both, and I love Jags.)
