A lot of you have asked for this, and as discussed in the video I held back on a review because I was hoping a snag would get sorted. Long story short I'd absolutely recommend a Miele, but they're not for everyone. I also feel there are things which could be improved to truly make this a perfect washer. I hope the review gives a useful insight into anyone curious or indeed considering buying a Miele washing machine.

Great review! Back in January, I bought my WCR870 WPS with a huge bundle with TwinDos inclusive at a great deal at a Miele Experience Center. Expensive yes, but definitely worth it in the long way, in my opinion. Greetings from Denmark! I am also a happy owner of a G7415XXL and Triflex HX2 (Cat & Dog)

Like you I’m very fussy. I agree a machine of this caliber should have no unusual noises. “The Miele tick” hmm it seems that they all do this. Spin, well yes I’ve gotten used to listening to the increasing sound of a good spin. But half the time it doesn’t like a little unbalanced load. So I have to spin it again. So grateful for your review. I watched your first review on this machine. ( Thank you ) I still love it and all the things it will do. Compared with other brands of the same level, Miele is still by far the best machine. Yes I would buy another. Hopefully this will last the 20 years as indicated.

My old Miele set has been sold. W1 washer 870 with twin dos leaking and sometimes it didn't make the final spin. The T1 dryer had a terrible tickling noise for the price paid. Miele assistant said it was normal due to a metallic sensor. Sold them both. Now I have much cheaper Beko (washer and heat pump dryer) and I'm satisfied. Just waiting my Miele dishwasher breaks down and then I'll be done with them. No more Miele appliances for me.

I recently purchased my first Miele W/D based on your videos and other online reviews. I was worried about buying a compact because they're not very common here in the States and I was worried it would be too small for my needs. Long story short, capacity isn't the issue- but everything else is! I've not had much luck with the TwinDos system. When she was first delivered, I followed the dosing instructions for soft water (3 tablespoons) and that was WAAAAAAAY too much. I'm now at 1½ tsps./1 tsp for Phase I and Phase 2 respectively, and some loads either finish without any scent of detergent on the clothes (without any suds in the rinse cycle) or there are tons of suds in the rinse cycle, like this morning, when I threw two pairs of jeans in. It's driving me crazy! I have five index cards full of notes stating dosages I've done for each load previously, but it shouldn't be this hard, especially not for how much I paid. I bought the top-of-the-line WXR860 and expected it to be effortless. Boy, was I wrong! There isn't any sudsing when I manually add powdered detergent, negating the purpose of the TwinDos, which was one of the reasons I bought this model to begin with. And don't get me started on the machine's options not matching what's in the manual and/or QuickStart Guide. US models also don't have a load indicator, even though the QuickStart Guide says it does, we don't have the EcoFeedback feature, even though the manual says it does. There are other issues, but I'll stop here. I really want to love her, but I'm at the point where I regret this decision and miss my old top loader.

Hey man, I bought the same model as you did back in July 2023, and I have artificially softened water. Here are my observations and tips for using TwinDos effectively: When you have naturally soft or especially artificially softened water, you need much less detergent for the same effectiveness. For softened water (0 hardness when tested), start with 50% of the recommended dosage. For TwinDos, that's 24/13 ml for Ultraphase 1 and 2, respectively. After several trials, I found that 17/9 ml works perfectly for me (or 11/9 ml when refilling the Ultraphase 1 container with Root and Splendor detergent and Ultraphase 2 with any chlorine free (peroxide) bleach). To gauge your dosing, base your results on how the clothes feel after the cycle completes. If you submerge an article of clothing in water post-wash, does it suds? Do the clothes feel slippery (too much soap) or have lingers odors and stains (too little)? Do not base it on the lingering detergent scent. *Some observations:* - Avoid using TwinDos for very small loads (e.g., two pairs of jeans). TwinDos tends to overdose very small loads, so manual dosing is better for these. - Ultraphase 2 is a peroxide-based bleach. When it reacts, it bubbles up and looks like a lot of suds, but it rinses clean if the dosage is correct. I hope this helps you dial in your TwinDos settings so you can enjoy your washer!
@LI_Ry83
@LI_Ry83 Ай бұрын
Hey, thanks@@latui7350. I'm currently at 7 mL/5mL for Phase I and Phase 2 respectively, because, like you, I have very soft water. I often suspect it's not enough detergent for larger loads, but too much for smaller loads, as evidenced by suds (not bubbles) in the rinse cycle, making me unsure what the right amount should be. I thought the benefit of the machine was that it could weigh the load and properly dose the detergent, but that doesn't seem to be the case for smaller loads. I can't tell you how many times I had to manually rinse my clothes after a cycle because the machine couldn't rinse all the suds out. I've also used more fabric softener than I care to admit when I don't have time to manually rinse, which is something I've never needed to do before. I'll dial up the TwinDos for normal loads while manually dosing for smaller loads to see if that has any effect. Thanks, man.
@apAvocado
@apAvocado 20 күн бұрын
Thank you for your honesty in telling us the issues with the detergent system. I suggest you use 1/2 tablespoon of powdered Tide detergent. No fabric softener. One lady in another youtube video on front loaders said that she has only ever used 1 tablespoon of powdered detergent along with a tablespoon of Ox-Clean when the load needed extra stain fighting help. Warm or hot water always. She never used liquids because she found they left residue. Take out the cartridges, flush out the system and stick to powdered detergent. Add an extra rinse, always.

@LI_Ry83 19 күн бұрын
Thanks@@latui7350. I thought I responded, so my apologies for just getting back to you now. Thank you for your observations. One of my lingering frustrations with this machine is that it doesn't autodose small loads correctly (like you said), which I find ironic, since the entire point of the TwinDos system is to perfectly dose each load. They never caveated that with "except for small loads." Many cycles, according to the manual, like jeans, delicates, handwash, dress shirts, darks, wool, silks and a few others, are specifically designed for small loads, so I'm not sure why the TwinDos system can't correctly determine how much detergent to dispense. We can put a man on the moon, but a Miele washer can't accurately weigh and dose small loads? Had I known then what I know now, I don't think I would have bought the machine. With the exception of coloreds (because coloreds are a full size load for me- and I'm still fiddling with the dosage on that), I manually dose everything now, and even that is trial and error. God forbid I add an extra grain of powdered detergent; it's unforgiving with the suds!
@LI_Ry83
@LI_Ry83 19 күн бұрын
Hey @@apAvocado, I only use the cartridges for coloreds at this point, everything else is manually dosed with a powdered detergent. The tricky thing is that the amount I need to use depends on the size of the load, so I have to keep a list next to my machine, so I don't add too much or too little. If I accidentally add too much detergent, I find that the rinses (even an extra rinse) don't do a good job of removing the suds. This is my first front loader, and I'm finding it to be more trouble than it's worth at this point. I never had this issue with my old top loader. Granted it was terribly water inefficient, using ~40 gallons of water per full size load, but I never had to titrate detergent, add extra rinses, or wonder if I added too much or too little detergent. I'd give my left arm to get that machine back.

We’ve had Miele washing machines in our family since 1965. Always brilliant. But the last one I had was dreadful. Such a waste of money. Noisy pump. Poor rinsing. Very noisy when spinning. It was perfectly levelled and would literally slip on the floor. Never had this happen before. Worst of all regardless of what I did it stunk!! I love Miele but wouldn’t buy another washing machine. The Bosch I have now is far superior and much cheaper. I suspect it won’t last as long and hasn’t got the build quality. But it is a much better machine. Thank you for a great review

@@michaeljemery Bosch have a gazillion of features and functions and things you can adjust in the newest models. It has with the app probably around 40 programmes and 20 individual customisations at max for a load. The washing times are insanely high as well. I've never had to think about a degree specifically or pre treatment nor adding active oxygen bleach for any type of stain as long as I select a puzzle of features for it to remove them lol. Also I've tested the temperature consistency... Every programme even the hygiene programme maintain a temperature above the selected degree +3 more above do it would be a 43, 53, 63,93 etc ... I also know they do everything in alignment with what Miele does it terms of hygiene from the same university given that I have bought studies ranging from 2010-2019 in which they both together with Electrolux fund studies for hygiene and aob treatments. So maybe this attention to detail which can be more assured given the lower cost and the possibility to experiment. I had a phone call some of the retailers in various parts of Europe and they all explained that Bosch cater to different populations and preferences... But I really want to test a Miele but I just caaaaaaaant which is unfortunate.... :(

My previous Miele was 6yrs old, unfortunately the TwinDos leaked, corroding the base plate. Miele condemned the machine and gave me a replacement free of charge. If it wasn’t for the TwinDos leaking, it would still be going, there wasn’t anything wrong with it. They replaced my machine with the WER865WPS, I don’t use the TwinDos in case it leaks again. Been happy with the replacement so far. Have an Miele dryer and it’s developed the annoying ticking sound. Other than the ticking noise it’s a good sturdy machine. The washer has a ticking noise, turned out it wasn’t perfectly balanced. It was coming from the back right hand side of the machine. I raised the back right foot a bit and it’s since stopped

Great review as always. I have the W1 9kg Twin Dos version. The ticking noise you mention, I experience too - sometimes even when the drum is rotating in wash mode. Miele engineer advised it’s normal part of the suspension system ( didn’t have this on my older Miele which I still have now 16 years old working perfectly. Hope I don’t experience dryer problems as purchased recently the Miele T1 8kg Eco/ green energy dryer- so far happy with it but has an annoying tick-tick sound as drum rotates. Had Engineer out to it, advised normal based on new drum design and how the carbon brushes run over drum to activate the sensor dry - didn’t have this same issue on my old Miele T294C dryer. Wish Miele would look at this design issue for future new T1 dryers. Overall happy with the machines. Great build qualify, reliable and do a great job.

I watch the WEG365 and it can balance the load perfectly on distribution but then stop to re-distribute and then it is always out of balance and takes forever to spin. Sometimes it has said 2 minutes left but stuck like that for 10 minutes still trying to spin. Absolutely ridiculous. I wouldn’t buy another now unless things improve drastically. Have it repaired. It will save you money. Our Bosch gear was unreliable and its rusted. We bought the Miele gear at the same time - it looks new and has been faultless. The Bosch has had 4 service calls. Probably as expensive as one of the machines cost. All the washer exposed screws are corroded too. There are chips in its paintwork - due to the repair person accessing the dryer, which sits on top. Below the Bosch (top model made in Germany Logixx 8) the machine is rusting. I have dealt with machinery for decades, and motherboards do fail. It is somewhat random. But the chances are by replacing yours, the machine will go on for a decade or more from the age of your machine. Another brand won't.

Learn one thing about TwinDos instead of complaining and criticizing how crappy it is! Miele does not recommend using detergents other than its own, i.e. filling reusable bottles into the trash! Other detergents are thick, have different compositions, behave differently and remain in the pipes for a long time, and they usually cause damage to TwinDos. Additionally, Twindos should be cleaned periodically (up to several months, maximum every 6) using a Miele cleaning agent to prevent clogging and leakage. And if someone does not want to use Miele detergents, then do not buy a washing machine with TwinDos, but a regular washing machine from another brand, or use liquids and powders for washing, using the upper drawer and turning off TwonDos. There are also Miele washing machines without the TwinDos system and you can buy one instead of whining and complaining that TwinDos is faulty, because it is most often the user's fault.

@@dariuszd1 have not encountered leaks in 2 years usage. I use the washing machine 3/5 times a day. You can put any detergent in and be sure no corrosion will occur. So it is more versatile. It's on the upper side of the washing machine, it is the detergent tray essentially. You can also switch the softener to detergent and have double liquid detergente or 2 softeners or Disinfectants etc. you don't have to clean it almost ever if you use the same type of detergent. Only when you change the detergent. Also softeners you can just pour them in the second Idos without having to wash the entire tray it doesn't have any problems with the different consistency of a different brand of softener It saves money due to the fact that you can buy oxygen bleach for colored garments and directly put powdered or liquid in the drum and you can use the stains features and a pre soaking feature that is 1 hour pre soak and then it drains that water. And it is easy to refill. These are a few that come to mind. I thought about getting Miele but Bosch just doesn't have any random noise that happens after a certain point with the machine, the drum is incredibly quiet and gradually increased spin speed and most of the time it never bounced around even in imbalanced loads. But I am talking about series 8 so the newest one. Don't know about the old ones.
